FAMOUS BINSAR MAHADEV AND GOLU DEVTA TEMPLE, RANIKHET UTTARAKHAND

Hello Guys I am Praveen kothari. This is day 3 and i am visiting and exploring some beautiful temples on my way towards Kasar devi temple in Uttarakhand. As you guys already know Uttarakhand has been called Devbhoomi in Rigveda. A land where gods and goddesses reside. In this video i am trying to explore two very famous and well known tempes in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand that is Binsar Mahadev temple and Golu devta temple.

The holy temple of Binsar Mahadev is situated amidst the thick cedar trees. With its divinity and spiritual ambiance nature1 beauty. Binsar Mahadev is said to be built in the 9th/10th century and hence has been an important religious site in Uttarakhand for centuries. With idols of Ganesha, Hara Gauri and Maheshmardini, this temple is known for its architectural excellence. . The idol of Maheshmardini is inscribed with texts in ‘Nagarilipi’ dated to the 9th century. This temple is believed to be built by King Pitha in the memory of his father Bindu and is also known as Bindeshwar Temple.

One of the temples is also of Golu Devta. Golu Devta is called the God of Justice in local beliefs. Although, there are many temples of Golu Devta in Uttarakhand, but the most popular among them and the center of faith is the temple of Chitai Golu Devta located in Almora district. The popularity of Golu Devta can be gauged from the crowd of devotees in this temple complex and the continuous sound of the bells. He is considered as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. A bell is offered in the temple when the wish is fulfilled.

Golu devta & Binsar Mahadev Temple is located at a distance of about 400 kilometers from Delhi. If you want to visit this temple then you will get a direct bus to Almora from Anand Vihar. Apart from this, you can also go to Haldwani or Ramnagar from Delhi and then take a train from here to Almora.
