You should check out IPD USA and Vparts for replacement parts for your Volvo. Keep up the good work! We have all started with little to no experience with cars.
I always check out IPD USA for parts on my 740, but usually end up getting the required parts from a Volvo dealer, Rock Auto or FCP Euro. IPD is usually much more expensive than those three or don't have the part(s) available. The Volvo dealer offers the same genuine part(s) at a lower price and has more of the parts available than IPD. About the only parts I have ever purchased from them has been valve shims and a neutral safety switch.
When I looked at some of the methods use to secure a Cat? I was thinking? Why not just buy some Airbags ? Problem SOLVED! the only good thing with high shipping prices is hopefully someone local will start manufacturing these parts at a really good price.
Id keep the bonnet cover if I were you as its purpose is to keep the heat of the engine - the engine runs better and more economically when it is warm, and most engine wear is caused from heating up from cold. I usually use wheel ramps for working under the car, if you have wheel ramp extensions you can also use them on the back axel.
I also use wheel ramps for working under my Volvo. I just don't trust my life to jacks or jack stands. I have used log stands and feel pretty safe with those. 😄
Logs are NOT a silly idea to support a jacked up car. The logs will absolutely NOT break and let the car down. This is exactly what you want before you climb under the car. 100% safe. I used some random blocks of concrete in my early years. Not cinder blocks, solid concrete. Cheers
Haha, i still have these logs laying around, although its been wet so i'm unsure of how water rotted they are now! Can always find some fresh ones when a tree falls later!
Have you checked your brakes yet. Should be high on your priority list. ;) You are doing good progress. Keep up your spirit! It´s fun to follow this project. :)
Unless you are a Volvo mechanic and have been fixing them for years there are many things which the amateur can't possibly know until the amateur has to fix that specific problem. And the way the amateur learns is to research on the net and ask others who might have solutions to problems.
Thanks man, i've had some really clever and supportive friends in some of my local volvo communities lend me their knowledge to assist me more on that to come when i get around to posting another video!
In the plans to replace the whole unit, Looking to make a big parts order, when that comes in i'll take off the intake at the sametime and clean it out as its filthy
logs are absolute unit in safety
Great car man ! - Looks in great shape for it's age and in really good nick underneath - Cool project bro ! 👍👍👍
Yes, Australia seems to be a much better climate for keeping the underneath "in really good nick" than Canada! 🙂
I have a 1988 760 Turbo black with tan interior 👌 😍 leather that I am working on check the brakes, there are two types, Gillingham and ATE, good luck.

Breaks are good, I do want to replace the break lines though as they look worn!
@@pez_projects Be sure to replace the brake lines, too! 😉
