In regards to the concentration, because I'll admit it was confusing at first, these are actually all edp concentrations. The "cologne" aspect comes from the traditional eau de cologne scent profile from hundreds of years ago which had a very vibrant and fresh opening. It's the same as Aventus Cologne by Creed, which is also an edp concentration. It's simply a fresher take on the original version.

This is why we can always trust Aaron. His taste is subjective but he doesn't let it affect his judgement so the review remains objective. I kinda go back and forth too in considering Elysium, even in discounters it's already quite pricey with the 200-300 range, now given the performance it gets times more expensive to my feel. Still, a fantastic summer magic potion that people would not dislike, by any means.
Dear Aaron, i think you should re-review Prada L’homme Intense. I do believe it deserve another one. It felt like your mood influenced the review. As always im very thankful for your reviews.
If I understand correctly the parfum cologne line is an EdP concentration but buffing up the top notes with slightly less base? So pop like cologne but EdP? Something like that. I see so many people saying longevity is bad. I usually get like 8-10 hrs from it. Skin chemistry must play a major part in it i guess?

At the price they want for the Parfum Cologne - it's just not interesting enough to excuse its short lifespan (despite the 3000 ingredients he uses!) I really like Burlington 1819's opening and something like Diaghilev is clearly masterful perfumery, but when he's wearable its often fleeting and where he's interesting and it lasts...it's because of old man musks and accords that smell of leather and furniture polish. This might sound mental but a decent number of his fragrances smell like old rich people's houses. I want to smell mid-30s, not mid-1930s.

@@AaronTerenceHughes Legend is a fabulous fragrance Aaron. The many hours spent perfecting it have paid off big time. Performance is great on both Legend & Maverick. I’ve always told people that this is a blue fragrance and targeting that audience, but no one ever believed me, due to the brand and expensive price. Glad to hear you say that. ☺️
The concentration is not Eau de Cologne but rather Cologne Parfum which is a new formulation concentration invented by Roja Dove. It has the same freshness as an EDC but it retains the same depth and longevity as an EDP.

I can watch ur magic hands all day lolol. Also appreciate ur input and free education on fragrance. I do wish u would review more affordable fragrances. :). Best wishes.
I think this is one of his more popular releases, according to a lot of the Facebook groups. I tried it for myself and I honestly wasn't that impressed. Also, no disrespect intended towards Roja and his work but I honestly feel that the amount of notes that he puts into many of his fragrances make the description of them very confusing, especially when you don't end up smelling a lot of them to begin with. For example, I don't know of any reviewer who has ever commented on the cardamon, rose, jasmine, neroli and geranium in Enigma.
ROJA line by far the best the niche I’ve ever experienced. I’ve been a collector of high end fragrances since 2012. ROJA Elysium cologne I wear it everyday. So addictive. It’s so good that I end up buying vetiver cologne. I’d like to collect them all but it’s so pricey. 😂
Hey, Aaron, what do you think are the best accords to make a fragrance smell sufficiently human, such that it can become your scent, or a part of you? I quite like barnyardy leather accords based upon isobutyl-quinoline and castoreum. Jasmine is phenomenal in this aspect too.
Aaron you're my only hope! Please tell me what is the material or note in this that gives off that pencil shavings smell? Is it amberwood? Cedar? Is it the type of vetiver he used? I'm dying to know because I don't like it, ruined this fragrance for me. I want to know what it is to avoid in the future. Btw got smoulder and just ordered Legend from Max Aroma :)
I'm not Aaron, but I know (and hate) the smell you're talking about lol. You're probably hypersensitive to the cedar note, which can come across smelling like pencil shavings, a wooden clothing chest, or even hamster cage bedding. I find that sandalwood heavy fragrances smell that way, too, particularly if the harsher Australian sandalwood is used rather than Mysore, the use of which is strictly controlled. Vetiver tends to smell more like dried-out grass or weeds to me and I can't stand it, either.
Great review as always! Love your take on fragrances. I would love to see your take on the fragrance Costume National Homme! Also I'm hoping to get one of you new signature scents soon, just trying to decide which one to get first!!
I just discovered a house called majda bekkali the fragrance I have is mudejar obscur. I’m curious what you would think about it. Very different than anything I’ve smelled before
I think Roja uses the natural Isolates of Ionones Musks and al other natural Isolates of acetates and Ketones to give it a lift. But how is he using than Lilly of the valley? There are no Natural Isolates, cause he said he only use natural stuff.
@@AaronTerenceHughes thats what I love on your work. And you are very honest. I love Boss btch very much the vanilla sandalwood and rose are beautiful in it😍
Aaron, I don’t understand the science behind sweet fragrances. Why wearing sweet fragrances during a high heating of summer makes the fragrances become even sweeter..??
You said bergamot is sweeten up the vetiver but I would say bergamot is more like green and herb then sweet 🤔 Orange and methyl pamplemousse is more sweet for me.
All Citrus are fresh, Due to the nature of Limonene, Linalool and some have geraniol, Citral in. But on a scale Lime is not sweet. Bergamot and Neroli are soft and etherial. Orange is sweet. Combining Orange and Bergamot leans the accord to sweetness. Methyl Pamplemousse. Is NOT sweet. It smells of sharp grapefruit. Vetiver is green and can be creamy or smoky. It comes from a grass so smells like grass/moss. Vert = Green.
Great Review Aaron Roja Dove Parfums Excellent House. Ok Idea im sure this could happen interview or Meet Roja Dove meets Aaron Terrance hughes. Fragcomm wld go nuts see this . Cmon ppl lets get this happening...................
I liked the fragrance from the first sniff, but I have to admit that it doesn't last very long. This is really sad. For middle ages people, for daily wearing, office would do very good. Overpriced.
Why do I feel that every time an English person saids that something is fantastic, I get the feeling that they do not really like it, Great review, by the way.
Always found it sounded nice, but at a price twice or thrice what I'd be willing to pay. The important lesson I learned today, if I ever get invited to Aaron's birthday, he's not getting anything with vetiver in it.
Sorry, have to share that I disagree with some of it: -First of all it smells nothing like Aventus. I own both and Aventus is all cedar+pineapple and this is certainly not. -Second being "cologne" doesn't mean weak performance compared to his parfums, it is actually quite ok. About 6-8hrs gets me through the day in office. For example I find it to be better performing than lets say Oligarch which is supposingly in a "Parfum" bottle. So don't be mislead by the name cologne. -and last, Vetiver heavy? Also disagree. I have the Roja Vetiver... THAT is vetiver heavy. And if you spray them back to back, then last thing you may think "oh Elysium feels vetivery". Its fresh n' minty+sweet n' fruity as it dries down. Cheers
Just to let you know some natural ingredients dissipate faster than other ingredients that’s why just doesnt mean itll last longer just because it says parfum. longevity depends on someone‘s skin not just about yours if they experience poor longevity then don’t try to justify with your own because everyone is different. Some people who has acidic skin tend to soak it all up faster than other people. some skin tend to pick up some notes better and project it differerently depending on what notes the skin picks up and changes every other time if the vetiver projected more on his skin what‘s wrong with that? he works on perfumes and he doesn‘t work the same genre as roja so what might be light with roja on some notes may be strong for him already, everyone is entitled to say their opinion.
@@lonewolf5969 you don´t need to let me know because I am fully aware of what you comment about skin differences, ingredient volatility, different reaction to types of skins, longevity, concentration, as well as olfactory perception etc etc etc. Just watch the video @6:30 and read my comment again. Im sticking to my guns - it is not vetiver heavy, it is "relatively" decent long lasting and it smells nothing like aventus. By the way , as you say "everyone is entitled to say their opinion", well then that is exactly what I did. Thanks . p.s. huge respect to Aaron and all he does.
ATH is right, the vetiver in Roja Vetiver is a way more smoother rounded out vetiver. The vetiver that sits in Elysium is almost oily, you can smell it up under everything else. It’s almost greasy smelling, but not in a disturbing way. It smells identical to Molecule 03 type vetiver accord
@@blankmandastankman it certainly is not "vetiver heavy", there are notes of juniper berry, mint, different fruits and many other notes that come before you can even notice the vetiver which I'm sure is in there but by far this is the leading note in order to describe it as "vetiver heavy".
@@janisfedorovskis8192 definitely not vetiver *heavy* , but as someone who’s been on a journey lately layering things with molecule 03, I’ve definitely came to notice what that greasy smell in Elysium was. It’s vetiver. Can’t say everyone pics it up, but I definitely did even before my molecule 03 journey. I just never knew what it was. It’s probably subjective anyways 🤷♂️

I've been wearing this stuff for 2 years now. If you like Aventis, you will like this. Absolutely FRESH... It's worth the $290 price tag, but it goes on sale at Neimans every year around Christmas.
Aventis rapes this.
@@wertpollwert I enjoy both...
I quite liked this one although it does smell like a very expensive shower gel, still pleasant and easy to wear - I do prefer your fragrances, though.
🦄❤️😍
Excellent review. Never smelled this myself!
Thank you
Review is spot on Aaron. Lovely scent with very mediocre performance. I’d wear many of your fresher fragrances before this and I do.
Been wearing both Legend and Maverick and love them both. Very different but both wonderful in their own way.
Amazing. Legend was really difficult for me to create. It was nearly Vetiver based.
@@AaronTerenceHughes Legend is a fabulous fragrance Aaron. The many hours spent perfecting it have paid off big time.
Performance is great on both Legend & Maverick. Have been wearing Maverick to the office today. Applied it at 0630 and could still smell it well into the afternoon. That’s proper performance at less than a third of the price of Elysium.
Which one do you like more? Do you think Maverick would be a date night fragrance? Do you think they're mass appealing, is it hard to not like these two?
@@IcarsisTV they are very different. Legend definitely fresher and Maverick sweeter. Maverick great for cooler weather. Legend whilst fresh, is versatile enough to wear all year round. Both are easy to wear and will be regular office scents for me.
The only ROJA Parfums that I have is a travel size 10 ML bottle of ROJA Parfums Scandal. Have you tried that one? Scandal is citrucy in the opening as well but it does it in a middle aged, classy, and sophisticated way.
For me, there's always a bit of a clash between what I like, how I want to smell, and what my significant other prefers.
For example, I like chanel antaeus but she likes bleu.
I guess this may come down to the Jungian psychology concept ot the differences between the ego and the persona.

Aaron I really want to try your creation Boss Bitch😏 it got an interesting sound to it. And especially the note breakdown is something special
I bought this today. Something about it that I like. It reminds me of Miami Beach. 😎
I’ve always told people that this is a blue fragrance and targeting that audience, but no one ever believed me, due to the brand and expensive price. Glad to hear you say that. ☺️
Yes! And there are so many better blue options out there…
This gets slightly better performance in warm weather but still not great for the price. It’s smells divine while you can smell it
The concentration is not Eau de Cologne but rather Cologne Parfum which is a new formulation concentration invented by Roja Dove. It has the same freshness as an EDC but it retains the same depth and longevity as an EDP.
Can you please review the YSL la nuit de l'homme bleu electrique
hey aaron
hope youre well
I'd love to see you do something w Roja Dove
A collab or something
do you think thats something you'd be up for
would be intesesting to see how 2 strong perfumers work together
First, compelled to make a comment for the algorithm (brand ambassador unicorn? 😂), to give a shout out, ordered my bottle of Legend, can’t wait….and, am I the only one that sometimes gets nervous with these reviews, specifically something liked?
I’m a fan of this, and was like uh oh…thought “is Aaron going to Jo Malone Oud and Bergamot this?”
Oud and Bergamot is one of my casual favs, like my favorite dumb reach. Don’t typically wear it out, but enjoy wearing working from home and around the house. That review….oh boy lol
Mad respect and love Aaron, keep rocking it
I can watch ur magic hands all day lolol. Also appreciate ur input and free education on fragrance. I do wish u would review more affordable fragrances. :). Best wishes.
Another great review Aaron . I would not buy this because I don’t like creed aventus or vetiver also like you .
I agree with the note breakdown. Its super confusing and makes trying to understand it before you spray it almost impossible.
@@AaronTerenceHughes Exactly. Just give us only the notes that actually stand out so that we can get an idea of what the scent profile would be like.
Interestingly Roja said if you smell this and Creed Aventus side by side they smell nothing alike, he said his Scandal does smell closer to Aventus
Hey, Aaron, what do you think are the best accords to make a fragrance smell sufficiently human, such that it can become your scent, or a part of you? I quite like barnyardy leather accords based upon isobutyl-quinoline and castoreum. Jasmine is phenomenal in this aspect too.
Definitely needs iso e super.
Watch the movie Perfume; I think you’ll get the answer there
@@JD1992i and what is the exact name so I can find it?
To my nose it smells something between bleu de chanel and creed aventos ,, it's great for the hot days
Very different than anything I’ve smelled before
Hi Aaron. Please say something about roja diaghilev and danger
I think Roja uses the natural Isolates of Ionones Musks and al other natural Isolates of acetates and Ketones to give it a lift. But how is he using than Lilly of the valley?
There are no Natural Isolates, cause he said he only use natural stuff.
100% natural wouldn’t work! He is similar to me. 70% aromachemicls 30% naturals
@@AaronTerenceHughes thats what I love on your work. And you are very honest.
I love Boss btch very much the vanilla sandalwood and rose are beautiful in it😍
it didnt last long on my skin.. with the price point, you have to overspray to get the desired effect..
Aaron, I don’t understand the science behind sweet fragrances. Why wearing sweet fragrances during a high heating of summer makes the fragrances become even sweeter..??
You said bergamot is sweeten up the vetiver but I would say bergamot is more like green and herb then sweet 🤔
Orange and methyl pamplemousse is more sweet for me.
Are a professional perfumer by any chance and what perfumes have you created?!
@@Mrfpsara I am a Hobby Perfumer and still learning thats why i asked him :)
Great Review Aaron
Roja Dove Parfums Excellent House.
Ok
Idea im sure this could happen interview or Meet
Roja Dove meets Aaron Terrance hughes.
Fragcomm wld go nuts see this . Cmon ppl lets get this happening...................
I am very shy and introverted. I could do that and I doubt I could do any frag events either.
WOOOOOOOO!! Always a great pleasure my friend!! BLESSINGS
I got grapefruit in the opening
PURE WOOD! Its stunning!
Blue market ? Can anyone please explain. Great video as always 😊
Thank you. You saved me more money once again. I was going to buy this next week.
Thank you for the review, kind sir
My pleasure
Pink pepper is very expensive! Especially the IFF CO2 extraction. A lot, for essentially a topnote!
Thank you for the review! :)
Compliance above all! We must all comply! Comply! Comply! Don’t think. Just comply! It’s very artistic that way
Like your video. Just wondering if there’s any good videos out there for people that want to learn what you know
Elsyum Roja or Nishane Hacivat ? And why ?
I liked the fragrance from the first sniff, but I have to admit that it doesn't last very long. This is really sad.
For middle ages people, for daily wearing, office would do very good.
Overpriced.
My name's Aaron welcome back to my channel, how are you?
Stunning frag smells amazing but doesnt last for what it is! If it lasted 8+hrs or more then I’d recommend otherwise steer away and save your $
Why do I feel that every time an English person saids that something is fantastic, I get the feeling that they do not really like it, Great review, by the way.
I wonder if the review would have went differently if it was known that it's actually an EDP co concentration.
Fast Forward a year later....
Elysium Eau Intense 🎉
Hi Aaron, I'm sorry but I can't find how the wood compound you talked about in Baraonda is spelled, could you please tell me ? love xx
which is the zestier of these two ?
the cologne or the original ?
I’m great …just finished binge watching 30 of your videos thanks for asking 😁😂
But how are you????….. I’m fine. 🤣
Hi Aaron is there a way to get better longevity out this thnks
It’s weird I get 10 hours on this one and get compliments sometimes 7-8 hours later.
Is there any other fragrances that smells like this Roja cologne?
Aaron would carbon work with this ?
Where do you purchase the fragrances you review
Always found it sounded nice, but at a price twice or thrice what I'd be willing to pay. The important lesson I learned today, if I ever get invited to Aaron's birthday, he's not getting anything with vetiver in it.
Legend was nearly Vetiver. So I actually have a kg of it.
Have you tried different kinds of vetiver? It can vary a lot.
Sorry, have to share that I disagree with some of it:
-First of all it smells nothing like Aventus.
Are your fragrances available in the USA?
Hey exited for this one 😊
id give this a 2 out of 10, its one to forget for me
Gracias por compartir. Como siempre, una excelente revisión.
I love aaron terence hughe
Hi Aaron, do you have anything from your own work that Aventus lovers like myself would appreciate? Looking for something strong with that Aventus/Sauvage feel to it.
My citrus work are quite strong! Lots of attitude and bite. You also need to allow them to settle. I would try. Neon, haze, blood orange, Zeus
@@AaronTerenceHughes Thanks for the suggestions, will check them out 👍
If I buy maverick or legend should I let them macerate or do you already do that yourself?
My work is ready to go.
