Sorry if this is too heavy but-- But i wanted to let you know that I had a suicide attempt earlier this year in January, and the weeks following were probably the most difficult times of my life so far. But even the night I had my attempt, i was able to watch your animal crossing play throughs to help me sleep and keep me sane. Your videos have been such a positive thing for me to look forward to in this hard time. So please never quit what you're doing, it helps so many of us!

I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your commentary on veganism! I’m someone who’s have trouble going fully vegetarian/vegan due to my food allergies. I’m literally allergic to all of the main vegan alternatives (soy products, potatoes, tree nuts). I’ve been thinking for a while that I’d like to start having some meatless/vegan days, but I felt like it had to be “all or nothing”. Hearing you say otherwise was reassuring! At the very least, I try to be as ethical as I can be with animal products.

Thank you for describing your experience, the experience of coughing so hard I lose my ability to cough is something that has happened with my asthma, and I was beginning to consider going back to school because they're doing cool shit in my oceanography class like hands-on lab studies of plankton. Now I think I'll stay online, getting the cool experience of looking at plankton under a microscope is not as important as my own health and life, especially when dealing with such a thing as asthma.
I'm glad you reconsidered because getting you back to as healthy as possible needs to be one of your main focuses; I'm sure the last thing you'd wish for would to be a "covid long-hauler," where some to many of the symptoms never go away! I hope you recover well and completely... And do well in your classes

I share your thoughts Electric, I’ve been in my house with my 93 yo gramma since last January- I also have the “cough til I can’t breathe” thing going on normally since I almost died about 3 years ago from a terrifying bout of pneumonia that lasted more than a month- I too, if I got it would most likely not survive it... Sorry you’re stuck inside as well but it’s just too dangerous for us... 😔

Hey! I don't know if you know this, but when you're moving furniture around in your house, if for example you want to move a table but it has something on it, you can place the cursor on the table and then press L, and you'll be able to move the table with the thing that's on top of it at the same time. This also works for other furniture.
Also, you can change the camera perspective up and down with the right joystick (if you stay still, you can change the perspective down and see the sky better).
And, why do you sell objects outside Nook's Crany? I know they're annoying but if you sell them stuff directly they'll give you more bells (and won't bother you the next day on the phone).
Just some tips in case you didn't know them. Also, I love listening to you, I learn a lot of things! Keep it up :)

I had Covid back in November and still have fatigue, and muscle soreness and develop heart issue. Fatigue and muscle soreness can last up to 6 months after so make sure to take care of yourself and take it easy :)

When you said sensory problems with vegan foods, I felt so validated. I have a terrible texture issue with a lot of vegan foods, and I felt so bad for a really long time. I’m neurodivergent and have wanted to eat less meat, but I can’t and it made me so happy feeling validated by someone who I look up to. 😊

Just got to the roses part and it reminded me about a funny story to do with my father. My mother LOVED roses and used to try grow them in her garden but for some reason never could, they would always die and we couldn't figure out why. UNTIL one day mum caught my father spraying weed killer on the roses, turns out he hated them, no explanation (I thought maybe it was to do with the spikes). Mum and dad had a long chat and a laugh about it, we haven't had any roses in our garden to this day though.

sorry for leaving so many comments but I TOTALLY get the aztec paintings making you feel weird and uncomfortable but also so fascinated. I saw these super super old paintings on a rock and I can't remember where I was but there were kids drawings, and like funny drawings, and writing... all from thousands of years ago. it was so insane it made my brain hurt
I got so unreasonably excited about Amanda talking about art history, I'm gonna go on my own mini rant in the hopes that someone learns something. Like she started talking about Aztecs, and when we were learning about Tenochtitlan, we talked about this stone disc in the ground at the bottom of the city's central pyramid, called the Coyolxauhqui Stone. It depicts this goddess, like the sister of the Sun God or some shit, I don't remember, and she was dismembered, and there was a whole big festival celebrating the story of this lady being thrown off the pyramid, and they'd throw someone off the pyramid to celebrate. Just the most out of pocket stuff and it's so wild how much we've changed culturally, and leaned toward the arts and humanitarian stuff. BUT BUT it's so cool to think that really, old civilizations did the same thing, like historians or archaeologists or whoever does it like excavated the pyramid and found an OLMEC artifact in the Aztec temple, so they knew about a civilization that came before them, and saw the artifact and they were like "oh this is neat, let's put it in this sacred place we built" and it's just--ugh. I love thinking about how there's just some human quirks that haven't really changed at all. Rant over, thanks for making me squee and type this Amanda.

I have an incredible interest with history and culture and I just get that tingly feeling whenever I learn something new, I want to let you know that I felt sort of creeped out by those paintings. The detail and the characters... everything comes together to make our modern brain feel as though something is off. I’ll be back in a couple weeks after going into a deep dive of Aztec paintings.

I'm not really a big fan of things like almond milk but I have been really trying to cut down on how much I snack and have been slowly getting getting back into a exercise routine not just because it's healthy but because I really do like exercising. Fun fact about ancient greek/roman statues - Most of the statues at the time were actually painted, rather than being all white. The Liebieghaus has/had an exhiibition that can be seen online called "Gods in Color" that shows a general idea of how some statues looked prior to the paint coming off.
Hey Amanda, I've been subscribed to your channel for a while now, and first of all I wanted to say thank you for starting this YT channel, I don't think my life would be the same without your videos, I love listening to you, I love watching you play videogames and being so passionate about things in life, and that has helped me out so many times now, you're a really safe place for me right now and once again, thank you for that. I hope that you find in your audience the same safe place.
I loved really all of the themes you touched up on this video, but since I'm mexican the ancient cultures caught up my attention a little more, I really love how do you talk about it, your feelings, how do you express the emotions and everything is really amazing, but I just wanted to let you know a little more about the Aztecs, since of course is impossible to know everything about a foreigner culture and even more when this has been gone for so long. And this is specifically about the human sacrifice, when we are talking abut the Aztecs they were more of a dictatorship than anything, they usually send their warriors to fight with other villages and cultures, they captured their people to then sell them as slaves and some were reserved for the sacrifices, that were of course offered to Huitzilopochtli, so no, they weren't that happy and into being sacrificed, specially since they really didn´t sacrificed their own people but others cultures that they even considered inferior. And about the Juego de pelota "Ball game" it was really different for every culture that played the game, and even with the information we've got it is really unsure if they sacrificed the winners or the losers, even tho the common knowledge is that it was the winners, that they really played to have the honor of being sacrificed, I kind of believe this since (of what I can rembember) this game wasn't a thing of everyday, instead it was a religious ceremony that even represented the fight between Huitzilopochtli and his sister Coyolxauhqui, whom is believed was the moon godess, and how the sun wins for the morning to come, so it kinda makes sense in my head that in the end the winners of the game represented the victory of the sun and they were sacrificed just to be near him or something like that.
Of course this is only what I know, what I've been teached in school and learned through years, and for what we know, everything could be just wrong, right? But anyways, thank u for speaking of this cultures and thanks to you I've been drawn into mesoamerican paintings once again, and since I'm planning on starting a little stationery shop soon, maybe I can include designs inspired by these paintings someday.

I am so sorry about your Aunt. I am so sorry you caught Covid. I hope you are on the mend soon. I also love history and Pompeii buying books over my lifetime. Recently I watched a TH-cam video about Herculaneum - that also suffered the fate that Pompeii did when Mt. Vesuvius blew. It was really worth watching and was done by Absolute History. (Titled The towns that suffered a worse fate than Pompeii). Feel better and give us an update on your recovery!

I love your answer to the time traveller question. I also feel like I was born at exactly the right time because I was born with a condition that had no treatment and my parents were told I was going to die in a few months. However, a hospital in my city was doing this trial treatment that involved a kidney transplant and asked if my parents wanted me to take part. If I was born a year or so before I would have died, and I’ve lived to 27 and I’m pretty healthy.
Already, the treatment that was such a big deal and long process when I was a kid is now a very quick and routine thing!
That is SO incredible, I’m so glad you’re here! A similar thing happened with Matt where he was born so premature that he would’ve for sure died if it hadn’t been for like literally brand new technology that came out just before his birth. He did a trial too that was basically like we don’t really know how this is gonna go but it’s either try this or he dies. And obviously he’s good and totally healthy now, no impact to his health or development at all! It’s crazy (and so amazing) how y’all both got the timing just right. Badasses right out the gate!

As a kid, I was fascinated by books about natural disasters - earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornados, and volcanos, etc. Instead of being scared of the boogey-man, or other typical childhood fears, I was terrified that a volcano would form under my bed at night while I was sleeping. (The story about Paricutin and the farmer that found it probably fueled that nightmare). Pompei riveted me then and still does today - so I totally get it! I love your videos, your brain, your social consciousness, and your perfectly imperfect humaness! I hope you have fully recovered from the nasty Covid!

I actually have a Bachelor of Fine Arts and had to take SO much art history. To hear you speak up and defend art like this makes me feel so happy. Art history tells much more in images than what can be conveyed with words. You'd be really interested to see Panamanian Mola artwork. It's a specific style that's been preserved and continued for so long and it's such a big part of my culture.

Hey Amanda - I really appreciate you talking about vegetarianism and veganism and putting it out there that it takes time and so long as you're trying (even if you can't go fully) that it's okay and you're still doing great. I am not vegetarian or vegan, but I do enjoy having more plant-based foods on a regular basis versus meat-based, and it is a lifestyle that takes more effort than I am used to, but really want to learn more about - though admittedly there are some foods that are hard to give up lol (having been raised on predominantly Korean dishes, we have plenty of plant-based foods, but being a peninsula, seafood is so hard to give up lol). I have run into people who I have called friends who have been quite mean about putting people down for not being vegetarian or vegan, and then I have met others like yourself who are supportive and kind. I just wanted to say thanks for the support and kindness. It makes me want to try to make more healthy habits and changes in my life that I am working toward. :)

i've always felt like that the fascinated / uncomfortable feeling that some people get when looking at old artwork means that you were a part of that era in a past life. so put me in drama jail too

@@theamandafiles i feel that weird feeling about the chernobyl meltdown and i always bet i was one of the people who was right there and just died immediately. there are lists of names and people from that disaster too but i'm too scared to look. it's such a weird creepy feeling

I don’t feel that way at all when I hyperfixate on Chernobyl like it’s sad but it doesn’t make me wanna crawl out my skin like ancient mesoamerican art does I’m just like “cool I mean not cool people died but cool” guess I didn’t die in Pompeii either 🙃🙃
@@theamandafiles it literally gives me chills when i think about it, it's so scary. i've watched a bunch of stuff about it and it's like a horror movie for me. but i'm never bothered by wars or anything like that so i can tell i'm not just squeamish. aztec art and such is really interesting and i find it fascinating, but idk it just doesn't make my skin crawl. i've had friends that got that weird squeamish feeling about stuff like the civil war too that wasn't seen as like a mysterious tragedy. i always wondered why that is biologically that we feel that way, like a really scary vague deja vu
