Yeah, I've seen videos where cops repeatedly strike people in the face or about the head while screaming at them to put their hands behind their back and stop resisting which is absolutely absurd. The natural urge to react to such attacks by trying to shield one's self from the blows with your hands and arms is overwhelming.
People have suffered severe and sometimes permanent injuries or even death because of being struck in the head repeatedly while being ordered to put their hands behind the back.
But even less severe actions by officers such as grabbing can cause an instinctive reaction to recoil or try to shield one's self. I'm not saying it's okay to fight the cops but instances where someone just recoiled or jerked away for a second shouldn't always be grounds for charges of resisting arrest.

No one is saying that it's okay for cops to act like that. Now if it's a physical altercation where the cop is defending their life or someone else's then that is where it is okay.
The reason they say wait for justice in the courtroom and just comply is so you don't get any unnecessary charges added on or risk your life with an officer that is doing wrong. You can resist a false arrest for something that isn't illegal and you can still go to jail for resisting arrest. Whereas if you were just arrested and didn't fight the cops and it was deemed and unnecessary or unconstitutional detention you would be able to sue but you may lose that right if you fight the police or resist arrest hence fight it in the courtroom not the street.

The officer stopped him for speeding whether valid or not we do not know, I will not take claims from either side as facts. But a fact is the officer IS within his authority to ask the driver to step out. Why he would do that, what went down prior... we don't know. But it is his right, and the driver is the one disobeying a lawful order here, there is only one way that can go, which is an arrest and use of force. So, terrible communication skills? Yes. Police work is not even one of the Top 10 most dangerous jobs. Because of these stupid Supreme Court decisions, cops routinely use "officer safety" as a flimsy pretext to harass citizens and escalate situations. The deputy threatened to use their pepper spray since the driver refused to get out and the deputy suspected them of being a threat (they could hide a weapon, drive off, attack the deputy, etc). In case you don't know, it does happen quite a lot that officers are getting ambushed on traffic stops and the deputy had every right to order them out of the vehicle. Thus, the driver refusing to get out is acting suspicious by not getting out, adding to the deputy's perception of threat.
