      Thanks for watching Steven, sorry for the late reply for some reason your comment was held for review by youtube. The TGV is an iconic train isn't it. My wallet got off surprisingly lightly considering what was for sale! All the best Rick

    Wow! First table in, all continental stuff that was quite a bit of eye-candy for any train or toy enthusiast, but especially those of us who model European stock. Thank you for another grand walk-through of beautiful layouts, overwhelming amounts of stock for sale, and some cool stories as you look at some of them. Great fun! Cheers!

      Hi Anthony, yes that stall is full of fascinating continental models. Always nice to see models we know very little about and to find out more about them. Cheers Rick

    Hi Rick & Pauline, while you where looking at a lot of continental stuf, we specially came over to look at British stuf at the York model show…
    We saw quite a few layouts you filmed, always better to see them live of course, had a great time there, seen some lovely stuf there.
    Had my Christmas at easter, taking a nice bunch of goodies back this week.
    And the thing with these shows is you never know what you're coming home with.
    Did hope to buy some OO steam tractors or rollers from Oxford models, but didn't find any, for next time.
    Funny your where looking at cats in the video, I bought some from Langley models, It's that extra touch of detail on your layout, isn't it?
    Perhaps a smal tip, if you got a "Works" shop in your neighborhood where they sell stationary stuff, they give you a good prise on quality paint brushes an other stuff that is very handy for model building.
    Whenever I come to the UK, I always stock up with them.
    Anyway love your video as alwijs…
    cheers, Danny

      @wellchuffedrailways  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Danny, I'm glad you had a nice time in York it is a stunning city to visit. We have never been to the show but we may consider it in the future. From what I have seen posted it sounds like a really good event. We didn't purchase any cats but I'm sure we will somewhere down the line. We have a craft shop not far from us and we do intend to pick up some of the paint you mentioned and it would be a good idea to stock up on paint brushes. All the best Rick

    What a great show. There was a good selection of European layouts, and various gauges. Superb video Rick and Pauline, and great banter with all. I think all the layouts were super, and all had great care taken in representing all life. The European layouts are great and having worked in a few countries, they have captured the railway well. Great video, and thoroughly enjoyed the time watching. Have a great Easter. 🎉 Especially when you cannot resist a Coleman wagon. Looking forward to seeing your next video. 🤪

    Another great video guys. This week picked up two Hornby Restaurant OO coaches for £19 each from Hattons. Original price £43 each! Good quality too. They still might have some at that price.

    • @wellchuffedrailways
      @wellchuffedrailways  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Graham, that's a good purchase. The price of these super detail coaches can go a bit crazy can't it! All the best Rick.

    I got myself 3D scanned by Modelu at Ally Pally so now there is a OO gauge figure of me. You should both totally do it if you get the opportunity!

      @wellchuffedrailways  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Steve, before we filmed a loco came off the track just before the bridge, that would have been one hell of an accident. But yes it is an amazing bit of modeling. Cheers Rick

    3:45 The Waldviertel railway still operates as a museum railway, with both steam and diesel locomotives, using the vehicles displayed here
    4:29 The standard Austrian narrow gauge diesel locomotive, used on most of their narrow gauge network except the Mariazell railway main line which was electified
    4:57 The standard 4 axle narrow gauge cars used in Austria, with modern windows (metal frames)
    6:05 Switzerland has a very interesting history regarding electric locomotives, they were one of the first nations to convert almost their complete network to electric traction in Europe so you can find all types of drivetrain design imaginable. This one is in the later green livery (they started out in brown)
    6:56 Looks like someone decided to fight the curse of the box there (some manufacturers make vehicles that only fit in the box without the extra parts fitted)
    7:07 Thats a double decker on modern platform height (doors over the bogies), compare that with the Polish ones later in the video
    7:14 Nice to see an original Permot Skoda 706 instead of the Brekina re-release
    8:28 Czech railbus, construction wise it can be compared To a Pacerr DMU
    8:50 Lima DB Class 80 steam locomotive with branchline coaches. The coaches are from the period that Lima copied some Fleischmann and Marklin vehicles, so they do have better detail compared to their usual stuff from that era.
    9:47 Thats a nice layout for those classic Rivarossi locomotives
    12:19 TGV running on 'Voie Classique' as they call it in France. You won't get 300 kmh on that
    12:28 Mixed gauge track
    12:52 Shame they didn't fit sound in that one. That is one of the loudest rail vehicles around with a gas turbine engine in each power car. (th-cam.com/video/Ss2sQKEstNs/w-d-xo.html for the sounds)
    16:07 Piko-DDR V180 in N scale. They solved the cornering issue (and with that the permission of actually releasing the model) by fixing the skirts on the bogies
    16:36 French DMUs,. The DeDion ones were sold all over the world so they might have ended up in Ireland somehow
    23:16 Inspection which has buffers for moving around standard gauge vehicles on 'rollbock' conversion cars
    23:50 Continental Era 1/ Era 2 with a lot of modified Preiser kits. Rolling stock is the usual European bunch (prominentely featuring Trix and Brawa). A similar ferry with both cars and a train loaded can be found on the following page: www.reisecenter-fehmarn.de/fehmarn-inselgeschichte-die-fehmarnsund-einweihung-des-dampftrajekts-234-2.html
    27:57 Even without the sign you could have guessed that it has Faller car system installed, by the wear marks on the road suface (these are not painted on but created by the cars themselves)
    44:07 Did someone get less than 1 pound for each cat for removing the supports and painting these? The custom painted ones sold over here are 14 euros (and 12 pounds in the UK, at tencommandmentsmodels.co.uk/product-category/oo/hand-painted-animals/ )

    There were a series of trestle-style viaducts, notably at Staithes and Sandsend, on the line from Redcar to Whitby. Sadly, it closed in 1958. Had it not, I think it and the continuation line to Scarborough which closed in 1965 would together be one of the top scenic rail journeys in Britain.

    • @wellchuffedrailways
      @wellchuffedrailways  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Will, yes that would have been one of the best heritage railways in the country and very popular being in a tourist area. Cheers for watching Rick

      Hi Mark, yes I did but it will be in next week's video. We filmed a separate bargain hunt as otherwise the video would be too long. We didn't get Easter eggs this year but we might be able to pick some up on a bargain hunt now they are discounted. 😂😂 I think diets are allowed a pass at Easter. All the best Rick, P, and 🐕🐈

    there was a scene in this video where your wife was turning a huge knob on a train controller . id love to have that. u all show great restraint with all those lovelys. friend of mine at one time had 3 sheds of trains . along comes an earthquake and a shelf is damaged and he got rid of all the trains except a hand full. yep , i live somewhere on the west coast of the usa that has earthquakes now and then.

    • @wellchuffedrailways
      @wellchuffedrailways  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Allan, we do resist a lot of buys, unless it is something very rare there will always be another one for sale somewhere. I'm amazed any locos survived an earthquake! All the best Rick

    I didn't bother going this year, the last few years have gradually got smaller and less impressive. Like yourselves I like a bargain but never found one here.

      Hi Wayne, I managed to find a nice Wrenn coach as well as the wagon. It was a quiet show but I was impressed with the variety of layouts on display. It was my first time at their exhibition so I couldn't compare it to previous years. Thanks for watching Rick
