They make an amazing piece of equipment that's called a water pump. Good thing that the basement was not finished.
How did you fill the upper corners of the tank with stone?
    Compaction?
Could you have left the tank alone and still make the patio above it?

Hope that 3” stone totally filled the cisterns. If both openings were connected to one large cistern chance are it did not fill totally. Just a suggestion as I’ve done in the past use CDF ( control density fill as it will self level and completely fill the void. I also used to decommission underground home oil tanks. Your crew always does great work

Know that feeling Tom. We were excavating for a customer's patio with our 8,000lb skid steer. Hit something smooth and flat, then a rebar loop. Turns out it was an abandoned septic tank the customer was not aware of. Jack hammered the top and filled with #3 stone. Could have turned out much worse!

2 1/2 days just turned into 3 days. Unforseen, but handled nicely. Yes, the picture window looks nice on the steps. What about making a TSH pattern to go in the center of the window? After it's cured, paint the TSH black. Owner probably wouldn't like it, but i would!! Maybe they'd like their last name in the window. A flat pour w no obstacles is an easy pour, huh? Glad you got one. Breathe easy for a day. It sure is staying hot here in NC. In the 90s. Hope you guys are staying hydrated and will have a shady spot on each project to take a water break in. Stay cool guys. Thanks for today's video. 👍❤️🙏🇺🇲🇺🇲

I remember back years ago where I worked they had they thought there were small tanks in the ground to hold different oils at the oil house. It turned out to be railroad tankers buried with out the wheels. It costed big money to remove them.

Nice Job Tom, well if you’re missing a member of the crew I know where you could start looking. The milestones of the base build are looking good, on the path towards another wonderful completion. 😀👍👍👍

I’ve run into underground tanks like that. Uncovered the top and jackhammered it open so I could completely fill it without pockets that could collapse later. 😊

That's what I was thinking; more than those access holes should be opened up to fill those up.

There had to be a good reason for that huge holding tank. Hope decision to fill it doesn't come back to bite you.
Seems like setting level of new pad to keep manhole access flush should have been used. (if a concrete truck didn't cave it in nothing would)
    Good vid !

You had the perfect chance to get rid of any trouble makers in your life...lol I'm surprised with the weight that truck had it didn't cave that hole in so there must have been some great support built into that hole. So far it is another great looking job being done by the Hauses and crew.

If you have an air compressor with a blow nozzle, you might be able to puff some air behind it and make the edges come out easier when the suction is broken.

Hi Tom, I am not a structural engineer. But I am curious why you did not involve the town to inspect and decide how to remedies the tank. If the inspector fails this job, and makes you tear out the concrete. How much of a loss will you have to endure. Especially if the home owner wants to sell the property and house. In a situation like that there has to be full disclosure. To me not worth the risk. There tanks should have been inspected, and condemned. Just a thought, the decisions that you made, could or will be a major loss to you, and your company.
