You guys do great work preserving these moments which would otherwise be lost

I really like seeing all that American soldiers standing back, watching with their arms crossed. How interesting it was for them to see officers up close.

General Botho Henning Elster surrenders himself and 20,000 troops to Maj. Gen. Robert C. Macon of the U.S. Ninth Army and to Maj. Gen. O. P. Weyland, Commanding General of the XIX Tactical Air Command, on September 16, 1944 at Beaugency on the River Loire France. German POW’s also filmed crossing a damaged bridge over the Loire into Orleans.

The ones on horseback passing in front of saluting US troops are giving the Nazi salute? Am I wrong?

I think these Germans felt great relief knowing they would be fed and not shot! They mostly looked like kids in uniform!

ONCE AN ENEMY SOLDIER SUR RENDERS IN THE BATTLEFIELD, THEN IT BECOMES THE ONEROUS HUMBLE DUTY OF THE RIVAL MILITART OUTFIT TO TAKE AN UTMOST CARE OF HIM. THE ELEMENT OF FEEDING DOES NOT COME INTO EXISTENCE AT ALL. THANKS.

Es ist keine Schande, sich zu ergeben.

These Krauts surrendered with horror and dignity.

If the roles had been reversed don't think it would have been as civil.

US pows would have gone to the „Rheinwiesen“ and treated there like you treated the German pows and your own black guards there, no doubt. 😂

American's industry victory. Not a military victory

Victory is still victory. I am happy that the Allies won and not the German and I do not care how the Germans lost it. Their own stupidity, Allied superior industry, combination of it. From the start of the war till their defeat the Germans used horses as main transport for the bulk of their armies. They impounded in every occupied country huge amount of horses otherwise most of their armies would almost come to a stand still. They dependend on captured transport of the conquered, In the footage you will see many French trucks and civilian French vehicles.
