    The important thing that doesn't seem to be mentioned here is that how the edge gets distressed depends on the image you're working with! If you try this method on blank image, it won't do anything except feathering the edge. On the other hand, you can use this to create the edge the way you want.

      Hi Fred, sorry for the very slow response. The refine edge options weren't available for CS3 but there is a couple of different ways I can think of instantly. To get you up and running asap I've added a couple of links below that might be helpful. Best of luck Fred and thanks for watching!

      @@Hebhansen hey, you'll need to use a reference image that contains lots of high frequency details. I often use aerial images of stormy oceans, which produce a distressed edge effect, hope that helps!

    why is your background white rather than the gray square [no data] image I see? Don't you need a layer? [using 2022]

    • @shaped-by-design
      @shaped-by-design  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jamie, it could be that if you start with just a background layer all that will be left once the mask is applied will be transparency.

  • @StephanieLarsen123
    @StephanieLarsen123 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    CS6. Didn't work. No crackle edge came up, all I got was a feathered edge.
    For future reference it might help others if you made your image smaller so we could actually see the things you're clicking on... And if you kept the chit chat down a little.
    Update: juggling the controls made it work plus lots of layers.z
    OK why are you creating a whole new fill layer with a mask? Why don't you just make a white background? Why make another mask?
