MY BROTHER: Pete and Bas can flow like that because they are a couple of East London old-school "Cockneys." This type of lingo comes EASY to them! Pete would have been a great rapper in his younger days, and Bas is a professional musician, and can play a wide variety of instruments, including the piano, trumpet, and sax. In an interview, he said that he played jazz piano aboard a cruise ship for several years. You know that had to expose him to many different types of styles of music. The first rap song on vinyl was called "Rapper's Delight", by the Sugar Hill Gang, back in 1979. It was a hit here, but it was a HUGE HIT in the UK. (Pete and Bas would have been in their early 30s in 1979). The 1970s was a decade long musical kaleidoscope. Many genres today owe their roots to the 70s music. Punk Rock was growing in the UK. Pete and Bas would have seen it all, and especially Bas, being a professional musician.
Spot on. I read one comment that said pete had been in a ska band at one time. I'm in my 60s, and I know with my grandparents generation, you knew someone with a piano and people got round it to sing and have a laugh. I went out with an older boyfriend (who'd be about Bas's age now (!) and he was in a ska band - I think it was quite common. let's face it - they grew up at a time when more people could play an instrument than had a TV!!! It was my age group that grew up with a single TV in the house and 3 channels - and not 24 hour viewing!!!! And I am very thankful for that!!!!!!! Yeah Cockney rhyming slang in their DNA. All the best. Cheers!!
News Flash: Pete does need some time with his rapping because he just got over some health issues. Bas, on the other hand, has LUNGS for days. I have heard him play the trumpet and the saxophone! When you are a PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN, your lung capacity and breath control greatly surpass the average person. Go watch a rock drummer in his senior age. He still has his chops. They say the LAST thing to leave a boxer is his PUNCH. Look at Foreman. At 75, he could still knock someone out.
Yeah. Everyone wants to say rap is music, but none of them want to call themselves musicians. I don't entirely blame them, being a musician is hard. A professional musician is on another level entirely.
Quick 1 - 2 is worth it even just for the last set of bars from Bas, one of their older vids. That Hyperbolic Time Chamber comment had me laughing real good, keep up the good work and welcome to the P&B family.
Only seen one reaction vid catch call me pete-a-cho the way I poke-a-man this sadly isn't one 😂 still loved this reaction the wonderment in your eyes on how these old dudes can spit
“He’s got keys of the white on a major scale and I’m a nick em up sharp like an ebony note”. …I’ve been listening to hiphop since Paid in Full and these guys are up there with the greats. The writing has to be a collab, there are too many old and new references, whoever they come up with it, hats off to em.
The lore (so believe as much or as little as you want) is that their grandsons (91 Shots and Handsome Dexter, who also produce for P&B, and release their own stuff as Nine and Dex) keep them up to date with modern slang, but the older references are all them
You gotta check out Quick 1-2! It's probably their second fastest song after this one. And Bas drops the craziest rhyme scheme I've ever heard on his last verse!
Bas plays brass instruments so he's got to have great breath control, and a man of his size will have big lungs, so he might actually be doing his bits continuously.
This is pure genius, the cadence is rapid like the name of the song, they just are so refreshing. Nursery ryhme schemes while keeping to their old school boss story telling.
Here is a collab Pete and Bas did with M24 ,, I think you would like it ,, the beat is really dope/ Pete & Bas ft. M24 - The Old Estate [Music Video] | GRM Daily
#etg if I can get one reactor to react to Jehst, I’ll be happy. Check out Bodybag, The Illest (self produced), and / or DLo Takeover. So many more, but can only put people on so much game at once.
Don't apologise for pausing dude. Reaction videos should have pauses to break down the content as much as possible. I hate these 'reactors' who just sit there, watch the video and then be like "well, thanks for watching"

Pete & bas- Browns, the old estate, sindhu sesh
Quick 1 - 2 is worth it even just for the last set of bars from Bas, one of their older vids. That Hyperbolic Time Chamber comment had me laughing real good, keep up the good work and welcome to the P&B family.
I love Quick 1-2: the glitchy, skippy rhythms in the first half and then that last set from Bas is just silly.
I knew you were going to have to give up on this one! Even the mighty Pete and Bas could not possibly rap faster than this. It was glorious.
I think they've done every rap flow at this point lol
#NORMANPAIN - IN GOLF -- and his own hits are fire

I honestly thought it was call me Peter Jew the way I broke a man😂
This is my favorite of the new songs they let out, maybe my favorite of all
This song is why songs have choruses.....jesus christ even boxers take a break from slapping you upside the head.
Bas piano scheme is fire.

That said, the entire piano scheme is probably 100% Bas, due to his career as a music teacher
You gotta check out Quick 1-2! It's probably their second fastest song after this one. And Bas drops the craziest rhyme scheme I've ever heard on his last verse!
Goodfellas,Mr Worldwide, Brown's, Gentleman next please

Iv subscribed for the pete and bas reactions! They are fire! Get on their grandsons too Nine and Dex
Not sure they could pull this one off at this tempo live but I am willing to suspend my disbelief because it’s 🔥
whirlybird is a helicopter {matches the song's cadence}
I think you needed to go for a lie down after this😂,a joy to watch
Do pete and bas good fellas next new one of the album
Breathing techniques 👍
First song to chatting with "rap" I'd Rapture by Blondie
I believe your right ..lol

Pete & Bas ft. M24 - The Old Estate [Music Video] | GRM Daily
You think it is not possible and then you hear them live acapella.
Pete and Bas are older than than Grandmaster Flash and Coco La Rock,
and better than 90% of the rappers since then.
My vote for "first" ever rap is DJ Spanish Fly-Cement Shoes. Feel free to let me know yours!
I would respectfully disagree it was more Sugar Hill - rappers delight.
#etg if I can get one reactor to react to Jehst, I’ll be happy.
Check out Bodybag, The Illest (self produced), and / or DLo Takeover.
So many more, but can only put people on so much game at once.
If you enjoyed this, then checkout Quick 1-2 and Sindu Sesh.
Check out sindhu sesh it's a banger! Love your p and b and xg reaction!
Yeah my only reaction to this song is "Holy Shit".
Nine & Dex- pecan pie, Jesus piece, ignorant shit (Their grandkids)
Pete and Bas Fans, we don't have a name, but we prolly more loyal than Ren fans!
