Catching the ball that a player is trying to catch is one thing, grabbing a players wrist in an attempt to rip the ball out their glove is a completely different thing.

Accidental contact with a player is one thing. Like if a foul ball is coming and the fan is looking up to watch the ball. But to grab the players mit and then pry it open with his hand inside is totally different. But the second fan who grabbed Mookie's wrist who intentionally kept him from trying to protect or defend himself, or to even escape the situation was the worst of the two idiots. I know the entire incident only took a few seconds, but our brains and thoughts move so much faster. Like when we think something bad is going to happen, like if we think we are going to get in a car accident, or going to fall or something. It always feels like time is standing still or slows down in those moments because the amount of thoughts we can have in those few seconds are way more than we realize. So I can imagine the thoughts that went through Mookie's head in those few seconds were endless. They should of been banned permanently from every MLB field. The entitlement and ego of those fans is shocking, but not surprising. They don't "protect" that wall, it's not their wall, it's not their stadium. They didn't pay the $2.3 billion to build Yankee Stadium, they were a guest to the stadium.

Steve Bartman was shunned away in Chicago for something that's not his fault and this goofball is being glorified in the Bronx. I don't get it.

How about we put some fans on the sidelines of NFL games so they can trip folks from time to time? I am pretty sure they'd have a much different reaction. Fans getting involved in a game by putting hands on a player should just be a no in any sport, and making light of it just makes it more dangerous in the future.

They do not understand replay and fan interference and the ump would have called it an out. It was the rule in the past for obvious reasons, includes fare balls touched as they roll along a wall in foul territory, the up gets to decide what base to put the runner on and who scores. It differs from a ball being thrown out of play by a player where the bases awarded are fixed. Probably because a down the line hit no player has touched the ball, the base runners with a guy on 1st may not have reached 1st and 2nd base when the touching occurs and may have been over half way to 3rd and 2nd when the fielder get to the ball without the touching.
