What a powerful episode this was. I hated that Scotty was thinking of striking Laura. I wonder how hard that scene must have been to tape for both of them. Genie and Kin were great in their peformance in this episode.
I felt so badly for Scotty during this scene. I remember watching back in the 80s, and even then, I could just imagine how "played" he felt. That helped me have a bit of compassion for him even though he became an angry and bitter man. The writers were so awesome back then! They sent our emotions on a roller coaster ride...lol. We were all over the place--didn't know who to love or hate because each character had so much depth! Boy, I miss that today!
I can remember me and some of my friends either staying home or leaving school early just so we would not miss this episode. When Scotty found that letter....it was like "Holy Cow Batman!"
Whoa, Scotty's world crashing down on him. What a horrible realization. His sniffling as he reads the letter...oh, poor guy. I can understand how he thinks it reads like a love letter, because it was really written with love. I'm almost relieved for Laura...she's kept this bottled up too long. It was too much for her to bear. His almost hitting her and saying, "I hate you" Scotty really hit a new low here. Great job, Kin and Genie. Luke showing off that boat...like it's any substitute for Laura.
Its so funny because on today's show 9/23/20, Bobbie was telling Scotty that she wasn't going to be with him anymore and remind him of who he is now. It was quite an interesting conversation.
Contrary to what some people believe, I don't believe that Luke "did a number on Laura" on the sailboat. He made her face own her true feelings, made her actually face something head on for once instead of continuing to hide.
Just because someone is attracted to a person doesn't mean they should marry them. Luke was determined that Laura was the "one" but, as things turned out, life and priorities tore them apart. Not that Scotty and Laura were the right couple. Laura was too young and immature for marriage and should have waited.
@@ellyreginald6546 Yes I would agree with both of you. In my option Laura had to face her fears and go on with her life. Come what may she should have stuck it out. Also sorry but Laura should have also seemed help with her emotions and try to get the guidance she needed to help make better decisions. After the sailboat scene, I would tell Luke that I don't believe his talk of love. It's all a game & he's a player that wants a conquest of her, then drop her. If he really wanted her, he wouldn't give her the keys & tell her to go. He could be saying the same thing to Jennifer. I think that would've been a good scene to act out.

This is one of my all-time favorite scenes of the Luke & Laura storyline. Talk about intense! The scene where Scotty confronts Laura. I usually don't repeatedly watch the more unpleasant scenes, but this one is an exception. The depth of the acting & the depth of FEELING these actors put into their characters really made them real for so many people. she was falling for Luke before the rape......that's why she was confused, and hurt. It WAS rape, but she didnt know how to feel about it. Perfectly written...
Yeah. Laura telling Scott that she wouldn't lie to him wasn't the best choice of words. I also think that those of us who watched these scenes in real time as it happened saw the build up of the connection between Luke and Laura was more intense than is available on video here on YT. Even I have been surprised at how fast the sl has moved in the beginning because there are missing episodes. There is a different feeling about it all if people saw all that transpired between L&L during the time BEFORE the rape. Whether you want Luke and Laura together or not the plot was much more involved than you are seeing in the videos that are available now. Not just on this channel but all of YT.
When he raised his hand to her, and held it there for a few seconds (6:21) this is wrong, however, he reminds me of a pageant queen the way he holds his hand up together perfectly. I've watched this scene 1000x so now I can joke that & not feel bad. Though, a 'man' should never raise his hand to a woman. Understanding the anger is a no-brainer, and the thought of wanting to hit her, well, thoughts do happen. THE SCENE is OUTSTANDING acting by KS and GF, this alone deserved an award for each of them.

What a scene between Laura and Scottie! The acting by both of them was fantastic! I got sick of all the rake accusations and it appeared that Laura really wanted the intimacy with Luke but didn’t want to cheat on Scottie. However years later when L and L are married with grown children they are accusing their father or raking their mother, so the rake story continued.
The thing is it was rape. Laura even said as much in her letter to Luke. It is like Scotty only comprehended the stuff about the bond. Instead of shoving her down on the floor and calling her a tramp, maybe he should have remembered his words about understanding. She did try to tell him before, but he slept through the whole thing. At this point, Scotty pushed Laura right into Luke's waiting arms and Luke took off with it.
This is so sad. She fought it the entire time was planning ways to be with a very young Laura. He was obsessed, she loved Scott but the kindness and caring of a friendship on her part was violated.
The residents of PC must have been morons to not think it was probably Luke who raped Laura/to not notice ALL THE TIME they spent together. Especially those closest to Laura: Claudia, Bryan, Lesley, Rick, etc., NOT TO MENTION SCOTTY! It was so obvious. Also, Scotty sniffing while wiping his nose was loud and gross!

Elvis dated 14 year olds as an adult. Im glad that doesnt fly today.
Did Beverly or Claudia ever have their own storylines?
Claudia sort of did, w/ her parents, w/ Bryans Dad. Her wedding was a thing. She made pivotal comments/advice etc to Laura through the years.
@scottjunkie Oh I don't remember that part. I probably seen it but blocked it out for some reason ROFL! I'm sure if I see it again I'll remember. Well if Scotty is helping her get better, then he better cus he owes her a lot! But it will be very odd if they get back together.
Absolutely
It's gonna happen. I been waiting 4 Scottie 2 find out. HOLY CRAPPERS!!!!
What was the back story with Mitch & Susan? Were they a couple at one time?
Sleeping together behind his wife's back
This is so sad. She fought it the entire time was planning ways to be with a very young Laura. He was obsessed, she loved Scott but the kindness and caring of a friendship on her part was violated.
Wrong name again for this post Junkie!!!... and no, you're not a little bit biased! LOL... but we undertand!!
❤. I thought. Scottie was going to kill. Luke really.
Uh oh
@jeandoodles I skimmed the episode just now. OH YEAH! :) I remember now! Scott better be taking care of her in France! He owes her that much!
People did notice, roy mentioned it to bobbi. Amy discussed it with laura and so did claudia
The man’s world has just been pulled out from under him. Give him a break
❤never saw this first. Time. I know scottie is upset but he just should have turned around and walked. Out the door. Easier not worth it. 3 20 24
