I can't actually believe that I have found this after all the times me and my sons have hunted for it. My sons and I were on this episode at Euro Disney 2001 they are now 26 and 29 years old. Amazing memories and Cilla has got to be one of the nicest down to earth caring woman I've ever met, along with the researcher Simon, and director Derek and producer/ researcher Lee. They truly spoilt my sons and me over the 3 and half days we were there. Cilla you were and are and will always be a Legend a woman with a heart of GOLD ❤❤❤❤❤
I love to watch all the past surprise surprise episodes. Cilla was a fantastic host and made the show her own. She will be forever remembered as the best down to earth personality on TV. God bless you cill black you was great. Stephen.
What a lovely post to read! Memories are a wonderful thing, and it's lovely that you have yours immortalised in television! Your lads will be able to show their kids now too 😊
Oh my heaven I loved watching this and reading your post. How beautiful. Three days….what a lovely memory. So thrilled to watch this and know you found such a fabulous memory.
I loved this show. The wonderful public really made it what it was. Plucking obscure people from every day life and bringing them to the attention of the masses and giving them something they'll remember for the rest of their lives is what made this show special. I often wondered what happened to some of these people after the show. Good to see someone cherish an episode featuring their loved one.
Crazy to believe this was in 2001. I'm Matthew the son of Sam and brother of Jordan who went to Disney land with Cilla. So glad this has been recorded and uploaded to TH-cam. 😁🤭
What a great show and Cilla was superb. The guests from the audience must have had an inkling that something special was about to happen when they were called from the audience to sit beside Cilla
@@graceygal2664 Following up all the letters, booking the celebrity guests, going to meet the members of the public who would be 'hit' on in the show undercover (with the help of the family) to make sure that their favourite band was Blue or whatever. I remember it took about 6 months to put this episode together. Today it would be done with a much bigger team in a fraction of the time.
@@graceygal2664 That wouldn't make it any easier. You had access to the 'hits (the members of the public who were going to be surprised) through the person who nominated them. The time consuming thing was orchestrating those hits. The logistics of organising a big surprise which had to be plausible and based on the availability of the celebrity who was surprising them. Then of course the fact that many of the 'hits' would be in the audience meant there needed to be a reason for them to attend a TV recording. Basically, it's a highly complex show but very rewarding when it all works out.
I always wondered how the show located some of the missing relatives when the family couldn't find them despite using the Internet and in some cases like on this episode, resorting to a private detective. What extra tools did ITV have?
I'd imagine it was just a matter of money, resources, private investigators, charity assistance, and also they likely contacted many hundreds of people and only managed about 20 an episode
