UPDATE: Google just changed how GA4 tags are managed in Google Tag Manager. GA4 configuration tag is no longer available. Learn more about the update here th-cam.com/video/1POi1BZxXwg/w-d-xo.html
Thank you!! With your help, I was able to set this up myself for my site! Nothing is intuitive about setting up GTM, but now I know a bit more about the tool.
I feel like such a n00b. I've watched multiple of your videos, but the biggest stumbling block I have is that my Tag Assistant doesn't have a "Variables" tab when I view one of the actions. I only see "Hits Sent", "Data Layer", "Consent", and "Errors". How did you show the "Variables" tab? Thanks for the vids, you've taught me more in 10 minutes than I did in a week on my own!
Hi, That was a Great video. Can you Please HELP and show how to build a tracking system on GTM & GA4 for Affiliate links? Especially if you have a lot of affiliate links on different pages and you want to make sure you track each one. Thank you for your amazing videos.
Hello your videos are really helpful but how can I track the menu links if I don't have variables like "click classes" or "click id", even though I created a custom css class for each menu item? The only variable useful that it's tracking my Tag Manager is "Click Text"
@@AnalyticsManiaThanks for your answer. I do know about css selectors and already added a css class for each menu element but even so the tag manager does not track the click classes.
Having followed your tutorial completely, I don't see the click link events in debug view. How come? I do see "user engagement" with the referrer from the page I'm testing with, but I don't see the click itself.
any tips on how to track images with external links? It's possible to track with have to create 10 tags? i want to deploy the attribute of the image automatically on GA, but no success :(
What if I want to track a link click from a subdomain to the root domain on the same GA4 property? Each site has its own GTM container, and I can't get a click event to fire.
@@AnalyticsMania Sorry, I meant 60 days. There's no way to track further than that? As it is, I'm saving Excel reports ever month to get a full yearly report :-/

Very helpful, thanks. Google isn’t intuitive and has terrible or non existent tutorials.

It means that probably GTM is not properly installed on your site

Hi, thank you for the very helpfull video. Will I be able to debug my event outside the preview of tag manger before the 24 hour period is done?
If I use other name in GTM-Event Parmeters,, like "menu_url" instead of "link_url". What will happens in my GA4 ?
You will need to register a custom dimension

You would have to learn CSS selectors to create advanced click triggers

How to create a click report for a specific page?
Having followed your tutorial completely, I don't see the click link events in debug view. How come? I do see "user engagement" with the referrer from the page I'm testing with, but I don't see the click itself.
Nevermind - had the trigger set to contains instead of equals to the css ID. Works now

how do I track a link if im not using my own website to promote my affiliate products, through social media,
How come in GA4, my "explore" reports can only track 30 days?
No, they are tracking 2 months. You need to change the retention settings in GA4

@@plastique45 You can change retention to 14 months in your Analytics settings under Admin
