This song isn't sad at all. It's inspirational and hopeful, and makes me appreciate life and all it has to offer me in the future. "I said, I'm ready for what I'm about to see, YUP!" Cloud cult is so amazing.
I love this song so much. Years ago as a kid i went to see them. We drove hours i was so excited. By the time we got there the show already ended. We were so upset but he played us a song. I never forgot about that day.
I learned about this song from my music teacher as well. He played it in class a few times and it’s been in the back of my mind since. Probably the best thing I learned from him.
I heard grandpa on my transistor radio, Though he turned in his bones twenty years ago, And he said, "Kid, theres something that I'd like to show you, Get your things, its time for us to go" So I grabbed my backpack, my flashlight, and a bag of caramel corn, I got my bicycle, and the radio, and I had it on the road, I said "I'm ready for what I'm about to see, Yup" I headed north to rain that turned to snow Through rusty towns and dusty gravel roads And I said, "Grandpa, where is this thing you wanted to show me?" He said, "Kid, you got a long way to go" So I went through canyons, caves and catacombs, I sailed on bicycle boats I slept in chapels and brothels, I met the nicest folks I said, "I'm ready for what I'm about to see, Yup" I heard grandpa on my transistor radio He said, "Kid, its time for me to go, And I know that there was something that I wanted to show you, But its time for you to find it on your own." "Let me tell you about rage when a signal died that day, Theres nothing out there and I don't care; Its to take my life away I'm not ready and I don't want to see, Nope" Its been years since I heard my transistor radio Yet I keep going to where it seems I'm meant to go And I finally realized what he wanted to show me Where I've been, where I am, its the show Where I've been, where I am, its the show Where I've been, where I am, its the show
ok , ive had enough , im out ! im going to itunes and down loading every song this band has to offer. it reminds me of back in the 80s finding that hot new underground band not played on the radio. just for us not for them.

I heard grandpa on my transistor radio,
Though he turned in his bones twenty years ago,
And he said, "Kid, theres something that I'd like to show you,

So I grabbed my backpack, my flashlight, and a bag of caramel corn,

"I'm ready for what I'm about to see, Yup"
I headed north to rain that turned to snow
Through rusty towns and dusty gravel roads
And I said, "Grandpa, where is this thing you wanted to show me?"
He said, "Kid, you got a long way to go"
So I went through canyons, caves and catacombs, I sailed on bicycle boats
I slept in chapels and brothels, I met the nicest folks

Yet I keep going to where it seems I'm meant to go
And I finally realized what he wanted to show me
Where I've been, where I am, its the show
Where I've been, where I am, its the show
Where I've been, where I am, its the show

5 years later, and you still only have 1 thumbs up, lol.

There is no best band ever, but man Cloud Cult is one that will always be on deck for a rotation.

My uncle knows one of them, I got a signed copy of their music.
gives me tingles everytime I hear it.
I've always loved this song but it's only now after the death of my father that I realise the whole thing is about coping with death
I'd love this song, if there was a love button instead of a like button.
I like the slideshow :)
