as an afghan girl with many family members that fled to iran, the line ''for afghan kids'' hits really different. Are there still people that care about us afghan kids? I had to cry when i heard this song. Afghan girls are banned from school and university in Afghanistan and the iranian government treats afghans like dogs. I’m Iranian descent but I don’t speak Farsi much. I grew up hearing Iranian music at home Hayedeh, Morteza, Googoosh, Sattar and my grandparents only spoke Farsi. I listen to Iran Top 2022 pop on Spotify every day now and Baroye is one of the songs on the list. It’s hard to keep emotions together when I hear each word of this song. Shervin jan even cared to mention mistreated dogs by this evil regime and didn’t forget our Afghan brothers and sisters. If you live in Europe or anywhere else don’t be indifferent, pressure your governments to stop collaborating with this regime. European diplomats continue to do photo-ops with our oppressors and have double standards in how they react to mass repressions in Iran. Let’s make effort for Grammy’s to award Shervin for this powerful song that has touched the hearts across the world.

that made me cry heartily 💔 All the support. I do not understand the Persian language. But I felt the pain of the people dreaming of freedom. I remembered my comrades who were killed during the Jasmine Revolution in my Tunisia. I spent a sadly night because I learned about mobility too late, after watching a coldplay's party in Argentina. I spent the whole time watching the horrific clips coming from a corner of the world we don't know much about. For my part, I shared with all my friends, my community and my family what I learned about the tragedies of the Islamic State.

Freedom is taken for granted by many in my country and few are willing to risk dying to defend the right simply to sing a beautiful, heartfelt song like Baraye. You have written this song doe for all of us, Sharvin. Never stop singing it.
He was arrested for making it. So everyone started singing it and asking for his release. Then they forced him to falsely confess in an interview that people have misunderstood his song and that he is not in favor of protests. And then not a peep from him on any social media or anywhere else, because he has been put on watch. So now others outside of Iran are making versions and posting, and people in Iran continuing to sing it on the streets to show the Iranian government that they can remove the song from the internet and silence the original singer, but they cannot silence the masses, and that the world is watching. And as long as the world is watching, it is harder for them to kill people in mass, the way that have done in the past. So thank you for watching. You are helping more than you know.

For me, this is the anthem of our generation. Not just in Iran. It's about everyone who is fighting for freedom. Too many places all over the world are yet to pass that stage. I'm in Bulgaria, an EU country, but as far as freedom is concerned, there is still so much to be desired. And still we are more free than most of the world. It's no surprise, however, that a song like this - a song that defines a generation - should come from Iran, where the struggle for freedom is among the hardest.
