Ya your explanation that a dropper post is for getting off an on the bike. Yes it can help but if you do actual single track MTB trails it's to get your seat out of the way for descending down a hill.

Yes, that is true also and good point, but you’re getting too techical for this video it’s a beginner video on how to choose a mountain bike for women, meaning if your here, you’re not that advanced to be going downhill and worrying about how to handle the seat, I don't want to get into that, here. It's a struggle to get the majority of the women on a bike like this to trail ride let alone worry about the seat height going downhill. I'll save that for a more advanced video on my Trek Remedy 8.

The purpose of the dropper seatpost is to get the seat out the way when you're going downhill, especially down rough terrain in order to move your body weight around the bike to get better control (riding off saddle). Raise the seatpost back to get to your optimal pedaling seat height (especially on climbs). The fuel ex 8 is actually quite a capable trail bike. If she ever decides to get more seriously into mountain biking then it was definitely worth the investment. But, the dropper is actually quite convenient in all situations where you would need to get the seat out the way for bike control purposes.

Nice bike, but I don't think I want to spend that much for one. I'm just a casual trail, 5 foot tall grandma riding for fun and exercise. No stump jumping for me 🤭.

Lol I hear you, they can get expensive, but it does make a World of a difference on the trail, try to test drive one if you can and you’ll see what I mean.
