Dolly has written thousands of songs in her lifetime but this is one of her standards and a favorite cover of many other artists and bands in all different genres. Dolly wrote this song the same night she wrote I Will Always Love You, which many people think was Whitney Houston's song, but it is Dolly's song that she took to the top of the country charts herself 3 times and Whitney did her own cover that became so famous. Dolly actually was the one who presented Whitney with the Grammy she won for her version.
Just to let you know. Dolly loves to joke around. Dollys husband didn't cheat on her & no fighting took place. The bank teller was flurting with him. A pretty little girl wanted an autograph. Her name was Jolene. Dolly loved her name. So she took the two events & wrote "Jolene" Dolly is a great singer/song writer. Other songs by Dolly that she wrote: "9 to 5" "I will always love you" "Coat of many colors" "Down from Dover" "Me & little Andy" This will get you started if you want more of Dolly.
I'm so happy I've found you. Saw your Elvis, suspicious minds video. Love seeing your FIRST experiences with these songs. I think you're gonna LOVE this!
I just found your channel & I love your energy & personality. I really love seeing young people discovering some of the best music from my youth. We Boomers really messed up the world for your future, but damn we had the best music in ever. Enjoy it as the world burns.
Probably said it already but the slap backhander slap after Freedies opening, genius. I'met a girl called Jolene at a junior disco, long time ago. PLEASE CONSIDER WATCHING THE MOVIE IN BRUGES. It will open ur eyes to a classic Irish movie and a classic Irish soundtrack. The Irish have ur back.
My girl. She's always so bubbly and happy. She had the smallest waist. I used to love watching her show. I especially loved her song at the end: "I Will Always Love You." 🤗💖 She wrote and recorded that song in 1973. Girl he really did love her because they've been together now for 56 years. Now if that isn't in love then I don't know what is. You missed 1 more Jolene. 😂🤣😅
I’m glad to see a new vid. I watched your Virtual Insanity reaction and subbed the other day wishing you’d upload again because I really like your style and personality and my wish came true lol. Keep up the great work!
You need to check out Stevie Ray Vaughn the songs "Texas flood" "Voodoo child" "look at little sister" "Life without you" "Tin pan Alley" "Pride & Joy" ... make sure they are the LIVE performances. SRV is the absolute GOAT of blues rock guitarist, you'll love him hes absolutely amazing.
Try a different “Jolene.” Ray LaMontagne sings his own “Jolene” and it’s beautiful. And since you like different sounds, try My Morning Jacket. Pick any live show-scores of songs on TH-cam-and fall in love.
Please also play another song by Dolly Parton called, "Me and Little Andy". Thank you so very much Sweetheart. I mean that very much Darling. Have a Blessed Evening. Adios.
Always enjoy your reactions ❤️ I wonder if you would enjoy some Pink Floyd live from the PULSE concert, either "Comfortably Numb", "On the Turning Away", or the grand finale, "Run Like Hell". Hint: David Gilmour is a master at making a guitar wail like a tortured soul, but that grand finale, Gilmour manages to break all 10 Commandments at the same time! Great to see your sassy self back, keep them coming 🤣😇🌹😁
What I am about to write is completely fictional that I made up myself and should not be considered the truth by anyone. Now when Dolly was on the road and Jolene was getting real friendly with her husband, Jolene was not the least bit interested in the husband. You have to understand that working at the bank Jolene could see that this man was coming to the bank just about every single day the bank was open. This was of course in the days of online banking and even before ATMs (Automatic Teller Machines). Every time this man came to the bank it was always to make a deposit. At this time in history most people’s monthly deposits were between $200 and $450. Out of that money they paid for their mortgage or rent, utilities, transportation, groceries, etc and could still save up for their children’s education as well as their retirement. Every time Dolly’s husband went to the bank it to deposit several thousand dollars every day. Jolene saw this man as someone who extremely wealthy which meant for her that she could live the rest of her life in luxury. Of course when Jolene was about to steal Dolly’s husband away she learned that he only made about $180 a month. Jolene quickly left town in a hurry and was seen or contacted anyone again.
