I think it’s a couple reasons. Like you said oden was already dead so they’d be fighting a war for nothing but revenge. Ace was still alive and not sure if this was whitebeards actual intent but sengoku did say whitebeard planed to make ace pirate king and so saving ace would mean a lot more as it he would be a new hope for the age of pirates, ontop of that a victory against the marines would mean a lot more than just a pirate crew defeating another pirate crew and then you could also see whitebeard going after ace be attributed to regret he had for not being able to save oden. Also whitebeard was old and dying of illness at the time ace was captured, he new his era would soon be over and so he didn’t want to die to illness he wanted to go out in a grand way so with a more suicidal mentality was more willing to go into a war now. Another thing that probably contributed to them not avenging oden could of been oden’s strong samurai code and his own honour not wanting help of the whitebeard or Roger pirates even before he died. He knew alot about what would happen in the future and didn’t want help from anyone so that things could play out how they did with luffy.

Odens wife, Toki had devil fruit powers that allowed her to send herself and others into the future. The whole thing involving Oden, Orochi, and Kaido, took place 20 years prior to the current story. Toki sent them all 20 years into the future which is the current time line.

Oden was a member of Roger's crew while Ace was his crew that's why it makes sense he's no coward
Whitebeard didn't avenge Oden because they heard the news years after it had actually happened and most Importantly, because wano is closed unless you use their official port controlled by Kaido, you need to go through dangerous route and his defenses will cause extreme damages to your ships before you actually reach there and It won't be good overall.

Ace was a rescue mission. You blow past this point but there is a huge difference between trying to save your own son, as WB thought of him (who was actually the son of his rival and in some ways friend), and trying to get vengeance for someone who even became a member of a different crew

To be fair while Oden was already dead, Kaido being extremely strong, and the damage they could/would totally do to Wano, perhaps whitebeard just didn't see any reason to. Plus Oden while being a good friend did sail off with a certain someone else.

I think Oden being already dead is what patches that up. Whitebeard isn't the type to get revenge, especially if it puts his family at risk. It's much more in character for him to risk his family for members that are still alive than to avenge dead ones.
Or maybe it's because they didn't know what went on in wano. Heck, not even the Roger pirates went to wano to stop them, but that doesn't make Roger nor his crew frauds.

Remember Oden left Whitebeard’s crew by the time everything was going down in Wano. That’s why he wouldn’t start in all-out war. However, Ace was apart of Whitebeard’s crew and he was a high-ranking member. That’s why there was the storm on Marineford, but no storm on Wano.

I think it’s a couple reasons.
Like you said oden was already dead so they’d be fighting a war for nothing but revenge. Ace was still alive and not sure if this was whitebeards actual intent but sengoku did say whitebeard planed to make ace pirate king and so saving ace would mean a lot more as it he would be a new hope for the age of pirates, ontop of that a victory against the marines would mean a lot more than just a pirate crew defeating another pirate crew and then you could also see whitebeard going after ace be attributed to regret he had for not being able to save oden.
Also whitebeard was old and dying of illness at the time ace was captured, he new his era would soon be over and so he didn’t want to die to illness he wanted to go out in a grand way so with a more suicidal mentality was more willing to go into a war now.
Another thing that probably contributed to them not avenging oden could of been oden’s strong samurai code and his own honour not wanting help of the whitebeard or Roger pirates even before he died. He knew alot about what would happen in the future and didn’t want help from anyone so that things could play out how they did with luffy.

Cuz Wano will get wrecked and Oden didn't ask for help and you forgot that Oden became Roger crew and didn't come back to WB pirates and just straight up returned to Wano after Roger disbanded the crew. The very fact that the 2nd division captain was vacant for a very long time until Ace filled it shows that WB waited for Oden.
