Retsu having a walking vortex default makes her worse than the other two. You HAVE to stay out with Retsu for the duration of the vortex when building combo, meaning you can't swap/double plant (if it's another moving/walking vortex), move ahead to nuke, etc. She is by far the worst one. Also, GQs commonly have Fire/Poison pools on vortex spawns, which make it so you can't stand there with Retsu unless you have the resist accs (something the other units don't even have to worry about).
Also, did you forget TT Ichigo has Havoc? His SA2 AoE is 510 and his SA3 AoE is 960.
Taking into account the above about Retsu being the worst and that TT Ichigo has the best kit + Havoc, the order from best to worst is simply: TT Ichigo > Rangiku > Retsu.

For the fact that with TT Retsu you have to stay there for the duration of the vortex, it's true, but then since most of the time you'll be using your SA3 + some NAD to build combo, you'd still lose 2-3s there out of 5. Which is why in the table I counted moving vs fixed as double points. For the fact that you can't double plant, well you can always plant your other vortex first then finish off with Retsu ^^
In terms of the Fire/Poison pits, I've thought about it too but most of the time it's only for the second plant in 5-3 but still a valid point which is why on the final table on discord, I'll actually count this criteria x3 instead of x2.
For TT Ichigo, I forgot to factor in Havoc indeed as I compared the naked radiuses of units at lv 1 😂 But that's also fixed in the final table, thanks 🤗
So based on all this the final scores are TT Ichigo (8) >> Rangiku (4.25) >> TT Retsu (3.75) 😊 The table has been updated on Discord 😊
The double plant thing can work like you said but it depends on the round/bonus as well. For example, if your second vortex is someone like Bond Yukio, Past Love, White Zangetsu, etc. you can't have both out at the same time. Also in other scenarios like using Frenzy Renji/Frenzy Byak, their vortex is so small that it's difficult to catch the entire wave immediately from casting it (especially if the wave is spread out) which is why people usually don't start with them. That's where standing vortexes have the advantage as it groups all the enemies into a small spot in the middle, allowing the smaller Renji/Byak vortexes to catch the entire wave as well, maximizing combo.
The main issue I have with the Fire/Poison resist Accs is that you can't run a Ryukotsujyo if you're using Chappy/Double Resist Accs. Yourself, me and pretty much every other knowledgeable GQ player has a Ryukotsujyo equipped on our vortex units. The movement speed boost is a noticeable difference and shaves off a few seconds entering and exiting rooms, leading to getting that tiny bit of time maybe saving you 100-200 points.
All in all, just some things I wanted to mention. I've been asked this same thing in the past and explained it more times than I can remember lol

and if I had a (real) choice I would appreciate this even more. I do have TTIchigo and Rangiku - both at 200 though. Only Rangiku I have a lowLevel-lowSoultree dupe (which could be so much lower [51], had I not a notion of making my profiles combo score sth ridiculous - 18.9k~, doing DZ 3x with her :( )

However, even if he had frenzy, how would parasol Jushiro's black hole vortex fare against the others, considering it's a 32 cooldown 3rd sa? Would those extra seconds be detrimental?

Having all 3 at level 1 and having used them all I can say imo it’s tt ichi>rang>tt retsu. tt ichi with his lunge and havoc on his vortex makes him the best without a doubt and walking vortex on tt retsu makes her the worst out the 3.
I still don't think retsu is better than rangiku simply because you cannot change character in order to have the vortex keept on and there are also some movement and strong attacks penalties while using retsu, you gotta stay close to them and if they get out of the zone you end up losing combo, her range is indeed wider but since is a radial one, if you cannot step in the center of the mobs group, since it doesn't have the gather up effect, it might just make thing worst, especially if there are status traps. Also you cannot leave vortex on, run towards the spot where you have to activate the special and get the extra combo you would get meanwhile while also gaining movement advantage.
Also like already mentioned before tt ichigo has a wider range because of his havoc. Of course there are situations where tt retsu does better than rangiku and even ichigo but generally i would personally consider her the last choice.

Rehan yes, since most of the time you wouldn’t want to waste 3S to charge it up since you lose time, end up with the exact same amount of hits but deal more damage 😅

I would have to say ichigo does more dmg than others
I use tt retsu and she isnt good because if you have to use your votex with enemys on top of a burn or poison puddle you have to stand on the side and so you either have to miss some enemy or risk the chance of burn or poison
You can use 5*star and 4*star accs to be totally immune to burn or poison. ( you only need 90% resist to be totally immune)

I have TT Ichigo and TT Retsu, both are very useful in thier own respects, but Ichigo seems faster and has a wider radius. Sooo, IG he's better. :3
