You don't have to live in the country to minimize the worldy/possessions mindset; the mall where I live is my Post Office🤣. All we need to do is submit our minds/hearts to God wherever you are.
A great chapter to read is in the book The Ministry of Healing titled: The Helpless Poor. It's a treasury of practical counsel on helping the poor effectively and in a God-pleasing manner. Much of the giving to the poor is counterproductive or at least could be of greater good if done in a different way or at a different time. It's about character development both for the receiver and the giver. The best way to help the poor is to introduce them to Jesus and to walk alongside them in growing up in Christ.
In many cultures, there exists business practices which are legal but immoral. Many professed Christians do business according to these customs claiming that they've not done wrong because the law permits it. Is this true? No. No. God's rules for relating to our fellowmen are preeminent since He is a a good, merciful, kind, just God, whereas human laws often reflect greed, selfishness, covetousness and the desire to be better than others. There are many ways to take advantage of the poor. For instance, if the poor gets in a financial jam and we, like Jacob to Esau say: I can help you out but you must give me that choice piece of furniture for way below its valued price, then what am I doing? Or, because the minimum wage is ---, I'm going to pay that only and treat my employees as slaves, working them under the worst conditions allowable. Would these be pleasing to God? Let's pray for Holy Spirit's anointing that we will know how to treat others as we would have them treat us.
Christ Jesus did not destroy the Laws but to fulfill... It was God who replaced/changed the Law of Moses when Messiah/Christ Jesus (the SEED) arrived and fulfilled the Laws... How and Why?. Galatian 3:18-20/paraphrased... (18) "For if the Inheretance depends on the LAW, then it is no longer depends on the PROMISE, but God in His grace gave it to Abraham through a Promise... (19) "Wherefore then serveth the law (why then given the law)?... It was added because of the TRANSGESSIONS until/till the SEED (Christ Jesus) should come to whom the Promise was made. The Law was given/ordained through/by Angels enthrusted in the hand of a MEDIATOR (Christ Jesus)... (20) "Now a Mediator, however, implies more than one party (3 God in 1 = Father, Son & Holy Spirit), but God is one."... Amen.
