In the press conference right after she said that "I am singing about celebrating and accepting the sadness but during this performance I realized I might not have really accepted mine" to a quesiton stating she got emotional in the end.
The emotions at the end makes this such a memorabele performance. Those last notes cut right to the bone. Still haven't made up my mind to vote for the Netherlands or Serbia, but those 2 really stand out to me this year.
This is what music is about : feelings. I don't speak Dutch but I understood what she was singing. She definitely will get my 12 points on Saturday. Good luck from France!

@@johntheexpert8718 Dear John, I didn't know the language nor the lyrics, I didn't read the translations, but I didn't needed it at all to feel the emotion of the song. I always care more about the melody and analyze the character of the singer behind all the vocal lines. I liked the song before the live show, when I heard the studio recording, but her live performance was so powerful. The meaning of the lyrics later just explained why I had that feeling from her.

@@DieterKoert I lived in the Netherlands for 6 years, and while I was the one making jokes of the Dutch language before moving to the NDL, I ended up loving it so much while living there that I continued learning it after I left the country. Maybe it is just me being subjective because I love the country, but I so adore how Dutch sounds (except when I need to make a sentence in Dutch...it is so bloody difficult to learn it). :) It is interesting to me how you Dutchies more often than not critique some things about your country (the nature, the rails, the language) that we foreigners love about NDL. :) Anyway, I love this single, even though I think that this year ukraine will win, becaause of all that is happening and also their single is catchy. I know the Netherlands don't sing in Dutch often at ESC bc it is considered a harsh and rather unmusical language (like German and the Scandinavian languages) but they should do it more often.. it sounds absolutely beautiful, strong and fragile all in one 😍

One of *the* moments of the night, for me. She sang so gently, so deeply, you felt her emotion... You can understand zero of what she says, but every word hits your soul so deeply. It's uncanny, her voice, her "wooo" and "aaaa"... Deep stuff. Her own emotional moment in the end was so beautiful and she held herself so gracefully. This is one of the most powerful performances I've seen in the recent years. I immediately fell in love with this song upon listening to it during the semi-final. This proves that you don't need choreography, back-up dancers, some out-there show to capture the audience. What makes this performance even more special to me is finding out that S10 was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and that really hit home for me as I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD. Definitely voting for this during the grand final. 👌

What makes this song so complete is the fact that it conveys something more than a catchy melody. Well, let's be honest - everyone has their sad memories...sometimes they haunt you for the rest of your life. The message is simple: don't let them defeat you. One of *the* moments of the night, for me. She sang so gently, so deeply, you felt her emotion... You can understand zero of what she says, but every word hits your soul so deeply. It's uncanny, her voice, her "wooo" and "aaaa"... Deep stuff. Her own emotional moment in the end was so beautiful and she held herself so gracefully. This is one of the most powerful performances I've seen in the recent years. I immediately fell in love with this song upon listening to it during the semi-final. This proves that you don't need choreography, back-up dancers, some out-there show to capture the audience. What makes this performance even more special to me is finding out that S10 was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and that really hit home for me as I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD. Definitely voting for this during the grand final. 👌
