I bought a 1972 M35A2. I Love her. This truck is more fun than you should be aloud to have.

I would not start her when out of the cab. Did that once when inadvertently the truck was in first gear. Not good when the thing runs away from you toward a house or car.

You are very correct and thanks for pointing that out. Not sure why I did that. But I will surely pay closer attention to what I am doing now on.

Good advice Bill. Take good care of it and it'll last. I got 395's on mine, not so much for extra speed, but for lower RPM at cruising speed.
Bypassing the FDC, did you install a pyro meter? Sometimes the fuel needs to be turned up or down and pushing it hard especially uphill can lead to high exhaust temps. It's worth noting anyway if bypassing the FDC.
I got mine from TN from a SS member. Drove it back home, 730 miles without a hiccup. Only issue I ever had was the flame heater fuel line melting on the intake and starting a fire, that was scary! Deleted that kit ASAP!!

yes I installed a Pyro gage and boost gage. I did turn the fuel up a bit...maybe even too much but I back off the throttle when climbing a hill when Temps go over 1000 degrees

Okay. I thought about bypassing mine but I haven't done it yet and since I haven't bought a pyro meter yet, I'm going to wait. Anyways, keep the video's coming bud and show that deuce some more, lol, it's a nice truck!

First off--- Recording in portrait mode you only get just a small view of what you're Recording, try panorama mode so everything is seen in your Recordings.. Sorry but all you talked about was just the basic maintenance of any vehicle except for the fuel pump.. This is a whole different beast was hoping for more info on 2.5ton military vehicle what to expect and or need to do.. You can change the gear ratio to make it a hwy running vehicle, Trust me I used to own a '56 power wagon military ambulance like on MASH turned it into a camper with a wood stove in it built ot myself and it was low geared could do maybe 50-55mph and she'd climb a tree if it could get traction 😆.. Alright nice duce 👍🍻✌️👋

Thanks I know I missed a bunch of topics but I am quite a scatter brain person. I am working on my delivery of what I want to talk about. I hope to do better in the future. Thanks for your honesty. I do love my deuce and it will be with me until I die.

Here is the thing I remember about Army trucks and yes I was a mechanic in a motor pool for a construction Engeneer Battalion. I was assigned as driver of a 21/2 ton shop truck that was only started once week maybe and then driven a couple miles to see if it was OK. Maintainence was performed every 6 months even though it was not driven, Yea you know that happened.
What you can get now are over 40 to 50 years old so what do you expect when they have not had that done? The engines were multifuel and ran mainly on Diesel or a mixture of gas, diesel or jet fuel. So unless you have experience with diesels they can be costly to diagnose and repair.
Then there is the fact they are not small and you won't be going shopping in one. The parking spaces are now for smaller cars hell I have a hard time parking my Dually or Pickup now.

Yes parking can be a mess. Made a mistake parking at a dollar general and some little car parked right beside me. I was almost trapped until they moved but I opted to make a 1000 point maneuver to get out…lol

i plan on getting one for my first car/truck so do you think it will be good (it gets to -20 in the winter)

You will want to run diesel fuel when it is cold. I only run diesel fuel in mine and it starts easy but I live in Alabama so the coldest we see is mostly 10 degrees. lol

You are talking about your truck but all you are showing is your face.

Nothing personal Bill but you won't get views with a thumbnail (lead) of your face. You need people to see the truck to get them interested.
