I've tried so many mono white commanders over the last two yrs, to see which is the best for me. I did that experiment and let PJ in on the info, and it was a brutal slog. GEO was one of the coolest but also the slowest to win. A lot of cool value on her card but she's so slow, is easily dealt with, and sense so.much of cmdr these days has a game ending so.much closer to turn 6 or 7, GEO was just not in the cards for me. I eventually went with Adeline for my mono white choice and have actually won games and ended them a lot quicker than I did with Oketra, Odric, and Mangara
@@kurtgrgelwrx8376 I've seen Teshar be a very fun value deck and a very efficient combo deck. Because I already have both, those play styles didn't appeal to me. I will admit, however, that Teshar is a very good combo cmdr if the pilot of that deck doesn't mind going through the 17000 hoops it takes an artifact engine to get going; Artifact lines are complicated for me and I've never been into them.

Drawbridge gets shot or wrapped up in a board wipe more often than not and being that there's only a few ways in white to search it up, and I'm usually using those to search for card draw or ramp, I'm afraid Drawbridge is just not good enough to make me more interested in GEO.
I like to play more flash creatures with GEO, it doesn't speed the clock so much but messes with threat assesment, I find it almost gives pseudo-haste to your board, I also play Winding Canyons/Emergence Zone for the rest (Orrery is a wasted deck slot if you pack enough flashers)... but in the end it honestly just sucks that your meta is mostly turn 6-7 clocks lol... Maybe put in more hate instead of just trying to play mono white faster? Adeline looks a tad "fragile" to me... but maybe my meta is just more control than combo.
I've been a big fan of Haunted Cloak lately for non-red decks that need a haste source. It's a lot cheaper $ than Boots and Greaves, and Vigilance is often relevant.
Yeah its a very solid card, especially relative to the cost of the others. I forget which one, but on of my decks needs a copy of the chariot for some reason.
PJ your deck building template has changed how I build decks tremendously! The high ramp count & removal is game changing. More mana spent typically means more wins.

Waiting for our favorite Voltron Content Creator to make a Mono-green Kosei voltron deck! I think he's a really solid voltron commander. He requires some hoops to jump through, but he does the thing every Voltron commander always WANTS to do. That is: Slap EVERYONE at once! Also he draws buckets of cards with some good pumps on him. Treefolk Umbra is great tech too! Slap people with that big 0/5 booty!
You were mentioning at one point that you'd like for more ways to get Haste in Mono White. Crashing Drawbridge is a 2 colorless mana artifact creature with Defender 0/4. It has tap: creatures you control gain Haste until end of turn. But for 2 mana it would be perfect for this deck!
Yeah Drawbridge is ok, but it doesnt work the turn you cast it which I dont love, but is still probably your best bet. Problem is that it gets cleaned up by board wipes, so timing is everything.
Harmonious Archon has been a pet card of mine ever since it got printed. It frequently hoses my opponents in the weirdest ways and notably most of the overpowered green card draw (draw cards equal to power) as well. And being the biggest creature on the battlefield by default is very meaningful more often than I originally thought, too. (Whispers) and it flies, so it holds swords well Edit: I'm not saying it is for every deck. It is a heavy lifter in my Maja go-wide deck that seems like the most perfect fit. In this Oketra deck I am surprised to see it as well, as it effectively nerfs your commander's main function.
What I’ve liked as finishers in G-E Oketra are things to tap down all opponents’ creatures like Bond of Discipline and Subjugator Angel. These cards have won me a few games on MtGO
Yeah those are sick cards and definitely have their place in a deck like that. Mentioned that section of cards in that how to build decks video i did recently. If youve got the budget Akromas Memorial is my jams. It usually comes down late enough that the removal is gone.
spells have to completely resolve b4 the next trigger happens. szats will made u sac then exile ur graveyard, the oketra trigger went on the stack ,went to look for itself after resolution of szats will and it wasn't there
One quick thing. Great to see the deck have such a great showing, but it is supposed to be helmed by Oketra the True from Amonkhet, not GE Oketra. It probably explains some of the card choices for the deck. It's why there's no White Mane Lion. Also simplifies things a lot when it dies or gets exiled. That big damage hit on Erik for 103 damage was really nice.
Yeah i realized that in editing. Left it in anyway. The heart of the comment was really that, the deck makes tokens so you shoudl have sac fodder, but yes colors matter.
You got Got by Szats Will /MTGO's interface. It exiled Oketra from your graveyard with the ability on the stack, and you were so psyched up about clicking the right buttons to put her on top of your library that you missed the opportunity to send her to the Command Zone.
Hindsight 20/20, the reason I t-prot on that arcane signet was, iirc, because I needed that one extra mana to do what I wanted the next turn but clearly that was veeery premature Edit: just remembered that it was one of my few white mana, which I was really struggling on with most of my cards being white and all
Yeah I can see that. After talking to mono white border who has said "ive never not lost to a teferi's protection." Has really shaped how I use the spell. Recognizing its potential to win the game, means trying to use it in situations where it will win you the game. Just as a learning experience, i think if you held it for the next board wipe you probably start taking people out of the game.
Hey, sorry if it is out of context, but will you be making kodama of the west tree content, been staying on top of it and there is almost zero TH-cam content out there for him and think he would be very interesting since he has been shadowed by other commanders in the set
I really want to, but im going on vacation tomorrow so it will be a minute. But I think ive got a fun idea for Kodama, and its definitely in the top 3 of Kamigawa commanders I want to cover.
For Windbrisk Heights, it only matters as long as you had 3 attackers declared during the declare attackers step. "At the time the ability resolves, you’ll get to play the card if you declared three different creatures as attackers at any point in the turn. "
I thought that is how it worked. I think on that turn I had only declared 2, then created more from the adeline which is why i didnt want to chance it.
I remember lox hammer being awesome back when we were playing Mirrodin... it's never not been good. If anything, it's gotten worse over the years as the 3 cast 3 equip cost makes it pretty slow to play.
It could be hit and miss in commander 8-10 years ago. EVERYONE was on the big creatures strategy back then, and if theres a bunch of eldrazi running around its just not as impressive in that setting....but now that everything is a 3 drop you are just hands down bigger than just about everything else in play .

no Teshar? With all the value white got in the last 2 years, you can absolutely do a non-combo build nowadays, and it's very fun

I play a lot of oketra online, you have to click on oketra and choose "library, not command zone" to get it to do the tuck thing

When Oketra moved from GY to exile it should have then had a chance to move from Exile to CZ. That still sounds like a MODO mistake.
@@mn6334 its not a moto mistake. oketra death trigger cant occur during middle of the resolution of another spell/ability. it got added to the stack

u have to respond to the trigger of aetheros while on the stack, once u pick yes or no uve already passed priority bc the trigger is resolving

You could've exiled the Knight of the White Orchid in response to the Athreos trigger.
Lion Sash is awesome! Sword of hearth and home is now my go to for stoneforge mysic.
Yeah both of them did so much work this game. More testing needed, but I think Lion Sash is going to be a powerhouse in equipment decks going forward.
