Hello John wonderful of you to help the guy out to give him a great start(restart) It would be great if you and him could keep us updated with the his progress back into the sport
Hi John. Watch all your uploads and find the very interesting/informative. You mentioned there are a lot of good people, in pigeon racing, which is true and I'm sure you can include yourself in that group. You are a great ambassador for the sport and someone I would feel comfortable to ask for advice,if I decide to return to the sport. Keep the content coming please.
Oh John, sorry I missed the whole live today, just caught up. Well sir, what can I say .... a true gentleman 👏 and scholar .... beautiful relaxing video, really enjoyed it, really did. So you know, I'm moving house in 3 weeks and I'm able to fly again, after 31 years.... really excited... doing loft shopping next week. All different now, as you say, let's see if I've still got it LoL. Looking forward to this weekends video.
Nice to hear that story John. I had racing pigeons as a kid in East Sussex over 15 years ago, had to give up when I went off to university. After watching your videos, and others for the last couple of years, this year I decided I’d get back into them. Now live in Bristol. Built myself a kit box type setup with storage underneath. Only 4ft by 3ft by 6.5ft tall - 3 foot of storage underneath and a full out dropping tray. Got myself 4 May bred youngsters off a local fancier and have been enjoying them ever since. Not sure I’ll have the time to race but been enjoying training them and applying some of the tips you’ve been telling us. It’s such a great sport, just wish it was a bit more accessible to people. I been thinking about how to promote my little setup as perhaps a bit of a starter kit for people who are interested but maybe can’t commit to/ or have the space for a larger scale setup. Just working out how best to get it out there. Might have to start my own TH-cam channel! Keep up the videos, really appreciate it! Best of luck this weekend. Cheers, Harry
Hi Harry So pleased to hear that you are a new starter returning to the sport! It's a great sport to be a part of & one that I have really enjoyed over the years, although in the beginning (we all have to start somewhere!) my set up was just a small couple of sections too! I would love for you to send me a video of your setup & use it on one of my videos! Add me on Facebook (& message on Messenger) - link to my Facebook is in the description on any TH-cam video If you are going to set up your own channel, let me know all the details & I can share/promote it for you! I think a lot of people would be interested & encouraged, by your story, which is what we need to keep the sport alive! You can always give me a ring - details on my website angwinfamilypigeons.com 👍
@@AngwinFamilyPigeons hi John. Thank you for the reply and for taking the time to read back through the comments. I will add you on Facebook now. Would love to do a video. I’ll sort something out over the next few days and get it over to you. All the best for this weekend 🤞
Not on a Basketing Friday! They rest all morning & as they are separated (cocks & hens) I will allow them to mingle at 11am before I sort through them at basketing time. About 2pm i give them a little conditioning seed so they hopefully go for a drink before picking them up at 3ish👍
Hi John….2 x questions…..you train your YBs pretty hard so potentially stressful do you suffer from YBS ? and very random….what has happened to your lawn ?
Never had YBS mainly as I feel this can be avoided if you don't overcrowd the YB section, feed & exercise correctly, keeping your loft hygienic & give them plenty of rest! Racing pigeon health is a synergy of all these daily conditions being routinely monitored & altered to suit your birds👍 Oh & the lawn is looking patchy as the dogs like to dig! occasionally we fill in the dig pits (dog pot holes) but it can look a bit of a mess until the grass regrows! Pesky dogs!🐾
morning John just seen your latest video very informative I watch all your videos myself was going to start up again this year but my local have refused me permission to have pigeons plus my one neighbour keeps moaning to my local council I just wish I could race again I joined my local club a paid all my fees but no good I'm retired no just want something to do in my spare time sorry fo how long this all the best for the session
Thanks Barry, unfortunately not everyone sees racing pigeons in the same light, a lot associate them with streeters/feral pigeons & only see them in that way. Some of our club members have the same issues! They have overcome the problem by having their loft on an allotment, or some have even just helped out other clubmates by sharing their loft spaces - maybe join a local club 👍
@AngwinFamilyPigeons thanks John I am already a member of a club but local rpra Council have done nothing for me I really admire the way you race your pigeons and all the tips you give out
Great story, John. Kudos to you for fostering people into the sport. Congrats on your results as well. Cheers.
