I was about to mention Wild 9, cause it is a bit of a underrated gem and being made by the minds behind Earthworm Jim makes Wild 9 a Fascinating Oddity.
Only thing I remembered it for was returning it and finding £130 outside Toys R Us, thinking to myself "I'm gonna get Pokémon and a GB pocket" Winning.
I missed (and never heard of) Rising Zan , Xevious 3d, Kartia and N-GEN and own the rest of it. Im quite lucky getting PS1 very late in its lifetime (circa Feb 2000), so many of relatively obscured games that turn out to be hidden gem already in the bargain bin that I randomly pick back then
YES!!!! Finally someone else gives Soul Of The Samurai the credit and mention it has long deserved. I played that game endlessly when I had a PS1 and PS2.
Alundra is the only PS1 game I own physical now a days. It's an integral piece of my gaming years growing up and I never thought of it as a hidden gem. I suposse it is! Great list, I love de PS1.
While I've heard of a few of these games, and there were certainly a few that I already wanted to buy, like Rising Zan, Alundra, and Disaster Report... I'm surprised that I only owned one of these already. But boy am I glad that I do own Soul of the Samurai. I absolutely love that game
Yea, I loved Xena (Lucy Lawless) too. I even bought the Maxim (magazine) issue with her on the cover. Let's just say my fiancee at the time was not amused.
Incredible Crisis! My parents bought me the game randomly when I was 12 and I was like WTF for the first few levels. I got stuck for a long time during the heist, then once I passed it, I could finish it.
Gotta say, thanks for all these videos man! You find the silver lining in a lot of old games that seem to just get overlooked. I'm sure a lot of ppl found some titles they never would have given a shot because of you!
I not picking on Wild 9, but I swear I remember the game more for all the adverts in the video game magazines back in the day, then me actually playing it. I forgot I played this game until I watched your list. Great stuff as always.
I've probably beaten Xena on the PS1 three to four times back then, it's rare someone mentioning this game. Soul of the Samurai, I never played but remember quite well a friend of mine playing it, but I did play Tenchu 2 quite a lot.
@@warehousedave7937 I also played and finished it back in the day, wish i had the money for a real stunt copter afterwards lol. Dave Perry's ending scene for that game was so good.
Really happy to see Increnible Crisis on this list. Got it in a huge gamebundle when i started collecting games and man, I really love it. One of my favorite games for the psx :D
Finally caught up on this episode! Some great highlights here! I never heard of Rising Zan, but I need to play that now! Wild 9 is such an underrated gem, so I’m glad you mentioned it 👍. Ngen Racing looks pretty sweet, so that’s another on my radar to pick up. Another excellent episode man!
Until recently, I'd have said SaGa Frontier was an amazing PS1 gem form peak Square that gets little to no recognition. That's still pretty much the case, but the game got a remaster last year, _including_ content from the cutting room floor that I've read about foe decades. Super interesting Square RPG with multiple intersecting storylines played from multiple unique protagonists. The combo system was maddeningly deep, too. Highly recommend, even on the new consoles!
That mechanic in 'Xena Warrior Princess' where she uses her tiara as a range weapon and the camera follows it in first person view would've blown my mind if I'd seen it back when it was released.
Great selection of games, i had Alundra & soul of the samurai/ronin blade which were epic games & played demos of wild 9 & incredible crisis, a lot of fun. Haven't played the other games on this list so will have to check them out for sure, they look cool & a lot of fun. Great video, look forward to seeing more hidden gems.
Seeing Wild 9 and Incredible Crisis in one video, two of my most favorite games for the PS, was a real treat. If Skullmonkeys had been in the mix you'd have hit upon my exact tastes. haha
I actually remember Wild 9 from the demo disc that came with my PS1, and Rising Zan from a magazine walkthrough. Even though I'll always be a Saturn apologist, I can't deny the PS1 changed the landscape forever.
Saturn fans have no reason to apologize! Well, with one exception: “I’m sorry you never played with a Saturn.” (And really, whose fault is that?) Saturn Forever!!
I would be very happy if I knew there is a game like Rising Zan back then... And wild 9, I randomly buy it (along with Klonoa) during clearance back in 2000 , and both are gladly an awesome game
I have watched so many of these videos now and I agree with about 90% of your must haves/hidden gems. Curious what your top 10 across all platforms would be though.
I actually ordered N-Gen on Amazon two weeks ago. Still hasn’t arrived, and WipEout 3 which I ordered with it, will take even longer!!! Though yeah there are people on Amazon selling N-Gen if you can’t find it
Don’t play the US or EU version of Alundra, the game is modified heavily and much harder. You can find a hack to play the original game in English without the stupid changes.
Keep up the good work please post more videos about PS1 PS2 PS3 games please don't forget about forgotten PC games like commandos 2, no one lives forever, blitzkrieg.
Ugh, Alundra is a beautiful, engaging, infuriating nightmare. It is painfully, sadistically difficult. I have no shame at all in saying that I made it halfway then gave up.
The only 2 games I'd buy on this list are Alundra and Cyberbots. The rest of the games either don't hold up graphically or I just don't like the games.
I've scrolled through your videos of ps1 games in the hope of finding a game that seems to have disappeared. I rented it the same day as Legend of Legaia as a kid, but I can't remember it's name. Had a beautifully drawn art style, you start in an airship on fire after exploration, come to a hangar and conversation with npcs, a fight on burning plane wing with a huge cat going sideways on screen as npc initiates boss fight with cat OK shoulder. Like a golden good fortune cat. Next area is forested and really obscure as you have to find a hidden forest path pixels wide, with no clue of any sort to trade with a merchant for a compass to progress in the game. Never got any further as my rental ran out and shop closed :'( Once a year I scour the Internet and youtube to see if any else but me knows this game!!!
If you could help me find this wonderful third person free roam beat em up PS1 or PS2 game I played back in 2010, it starts you choosing from 4 characters in a first city level where you beat up many enemies (gang members probably) like 10 enemies at once at some points. I remember one character has this blue static glowing fist that makes him kill many enemies at once (like pounding on the ground for example) the game had a style of a mix between fighting force, g-police, batman PS1 game(level designs). Especially the dark black areas that you have to go close to get revealed. At the end of the level there will be a boss. If I remember the first boss, he jumps out of a helicopter and it's a big buff guy gang member. What makes the game great is the fact that after you defeat a boss, you get the power to transform later levels into a shadowy monster/figure. I don't remember which boss gives what, but I'm talking about a shadow wolf, a shadow girl(after defeating a woman boss), each has his own ability. It goes on for like 8 levels probably but. At the end of the game there will be a nice end credits of all the characters you play as and the shadowy powers running across at the top of the screen with a field of mountain/grass. That's all I remember. I really tried to search all the beat em ups but didn't find. I think it's because the game is not in English. And I can't remember but i think it was Chinese/japanese
Wow, never heard of these games before. Definitely will download it and add to my collection of PS1 GEMS^^ By the way..Hoshigami Ruining Blue Earth also should be on this list.. just saying ^^
Glad to see Wild 9 getting some of the recognition it deserves. Miserably underrated game.
I’ll second that, deserves way more attention!
Absolutely adore it and Can Not Find a working copy for nuthin it's maddening.
I was about to mention Wild 9, cause it is a bit of a underrated gem and being made by the minds behind Earthworm Jim makes Wild 9 a Fascinating Oddity.
It was a wexcellent game 🙂
Only thing I remembered it for was returning it and finding £130 outside Toys R Us, thinking to myself "I'm gonna get Pokémon and a GB pocket"
Winning.
Crazy, I own about 8 of the games that were mentioned in this video. I love hidden gems on consoles🙂
N-Gen Racing is so good the music is also top tier
Zan is basically my DMC when i still don't have a PS2
Legend of Legaia and Poy Poy is alao a hidden gem of the PS1
I loved NGen racing as a kid, I still have all the soundtracks on my playlist to this day! Some real bangers.
Play Incredible Crisis
Cyberbots is an amazing fighting game. Didn't know about it until I looked up my favorite MvC character, Jin.
I remember playing incredible crisis when I was 6 years old. I cried because it was so difficult 😭
Yea, I loved Xena (Lucy Lawless) too. I even bought the Maxim (magazine) issue with her on the cover. Let's just say my fiancee at the time was not amused.
😅
Incredible Crisis! My parents bought me the game randomly when I was 12 and I was like WTF for the first few levels. I got stuck for a long time during the heist, then once I passed it, I could finish it.
I never heard anyone else bring up Rizing Zan. Such a cool game.
Oh man! I played the crap out of the Xena demo! Thank you for the reminder!
Gotta say, thanks for all these videos man! You find the silver lining in a lot of old games that seem to just get overlooked. I'm sure a lot of ppl found some titles they never would have given a shot because of you!
Thanks man!
Rising zan looks very interesting for a ps1 game
It’s so much fun!
Another awesome list of under appreciated PS1 games! Well done. I especially like the shout out to Xevious 3D and Xena Warrior Princess.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
I not picking on Wild 9, but I swear I remember the game more for all the adverts in the video game magazines back in the day, then me actually playing it. I forgot I played this game until I watched your list. Great stuff as always.

Soul of the Samurai, I never played but remember quite well a friend of mine playing it, but I did play Tenchu 2 quite a lot.
Alundra is awesome. Some of those puzzles can be pretty damn hard though, like this one sliding ice block puzzle later in the game.
I was an Earthworm Jim fan back in the 90's so wild 9 and MDK were 2 of my fave PS1 games. Shiny were my fave developers before interplay ruined them.
@@warehousedave7937 I also played and finished it back in the day, wish i had the money for a real stunt copter afterwards lol. Dave Perry's ending scene for that game was so good.
Samurai Zan is like an unofficial prequel to God Hand. I can't recommend enough both of these gems.
Soul of the samurai/Ronin Blade Is the pure definition of hidden gem on PS1. It Is bushido Blade meets Resident evil. AMAZING game!
Really happy to see Increnible Crisis on this list. Got it in a huge gamebundle when i started collecting games and man, I really love it. One of my favorite games for the psx :D
I tried Zan because of an older video you made, and I absolutely loved it! This is my new favorite channel

Reminds me of hevenly sword on the ps3
Dark Sector
I really enjoyed Alundra, and I often recommend another action RPG on PS1 - Monkey Hero.
What about Monkey Magic
This is a pretty good list (maybe except Xena :P) I really liked Kartia and it's nice to see Incredible Crisis get some love.
Haha Xena is a real guilty pleasure of mine 😅
Xena was great 🤷
Thank you for posting this video love PS1 games i played soul of samurai its a shame none of these games are on PSN store.
Rising Zan needs a modern remake
I’ll second that, would awesome to see it fully reimagined for the modern day!
As a big Zelda 3/4 fan, I really liked Alundra and the sequel was OK albeit in a different style.
Yeah the sequel was good but no where near as good as the original!
9:11 the music of Lunar Legend. A masterpiece...
Rising Zan is basically Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and No More Heroes before any of these games have existed! It's a true historical piece!
Surprised again and that Incredible Crisis game lol have to try it.
Glad you found something new!
Whenever I hear that opening tune, I can't help but think about simpler times.
One of the best gaming channels in youtube
Thanks Twisted!
ahhh that intro music is just what I needed today. thanks dude
My pleasure man!
Great video! Does anyone know the track list for this video? That song around 15:20 was really cool
Always a joy to discover new obscure stuff with you ^_^
There's a fine line between hidden gem and shovelware my friend.
I love the star force music in the bg. Nice touch!
Seeing Wild 9 and Incredible Crisis in one video, two of my most favorite games for the PS, was a real treat. If Skullmonkeys had been in the mix you'd have hit upon my exact tastes. haha

0:30 Seeing Ridings Zan spin his wrist and sword and float in the air reminds me of Yoshimitsu from Tekken, interesting heh.
As crazy as prices are getting for old games I'm just actually glad to see people interested in these games.
I'm happy to see alundra on this list not many people remember this game
I would be very happy if I knew there is a game like Rising Zan back then... And wild 9, I randomly buy it (along with Klonoa) during clearance back in 2000 , and both are gladly an awesome game
It's great that Alundra still gets some attention. Personally, I think that even the sequel is a hidden gem. I, at least, had a lot of fun playing it.
i've played all but one of these, i used to have a blast on xena, i thought the chrakrum throwing was a cool feature.
Thank you got leaving the game name on screen while showing the gameplay!
Alundra, what an amazing game! I even use village of inoa theme on My phone hehe
That music in the background of the Xevious clip, is that from the game? Sounds incredible.
Not played wild 9 since the 90s and totally forgot it existed cheers
Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman
Wild 9
Alundra
Xevious 3D/G
Ah, I See You're a Man of Culture As Well
Great selection! I just started playing Alundra for the first time... there was a video of it on an old demo disc and I always wanted to play it!
Thanks mate!
Good luck. You'll need it.
Nice. Soul of the Samurai kinda looks like a ps1 version of Way of the Samurai for the ps2
I have watched so many of these videos now and I agree with about 90% of your must haves/hidden gems. Curious what your top 10 across all platforms would be though.
That would make for a good video!
Love the choice of intro music 👍
Alundra was a pretty interesting game tbh, preferred the gameplay of two though (despite never finishing either).
Tiny Tank was much fun on the ps1!
I actually ordered N-Gen on Amazon two weeks ago. Still hasn’t arrived, and WipEout 3 which I ordered with it, will take even longer!!! Though yeah there are people on Amazon selling N-Gen if you can’t find it
Keep it up with interesting ps1 titles.
Edit: That was Alundra that I missed going for a wee. That game is cool as hell.
What are you using to capture? the image is very sharp
Hey man I'm so happy you can still make content on my favorite console ever❤️
Plenty more on the way!
Great list, a couple I knew well, 2 that I've never tried yet. Good stuff. One day I'll see The Unholy War on here lol
Glad you found something new!
I love your hidden gems videos!
Thanks for watching them!
Don’t play the US or EU version of Alundra, the game is modified heavily and much harder. You can find a hack to play the original game in English without the stupid changes.
Do more for the PSP and PS VITA please
I’ll get some in the works 🙂
Keep up the good work please post more videos about PS1 PS2 PS3 games please don't forget about forgotten PC games like commandos 2, no one lives forever, blitzkrieg.
More in the works 🙂
I love this intro song 😂 everytime I do a lil dance
🤣🤣
great list as always
Alundra's pretty fun, though I haven't finished it.
What’s the song that plays during xevious 3d? I’ve heard it in other videos of yours and it’s really catchy!
I love these videos!!! You do it better than anyone bro
Thanks man!
Here are ps1 games I used to play but isn't so popular.
Azure Dreams
Brave Fencer Musashi
Jade Cocoon
this was a particuarly good video
What is the music that plays during the explanation of cyberbots?

Great, I didn't knew about half of these games
Glad you found something new man 🙂
wow someone should remake ZAN
I’ll second that!
Soul of the Samurai is my favourite
Great list!
some really good picks
Love you videos always find a new gem
Thanks for watching man!
Okay, I have to say it.
Your voice is so goddamn soothing, I love it.
Haha thanks! I appreciate that 🙂
Wow, never heard of these games before. Definitely will download it and add to my collection of PS1 GEMS^^
By the way..Hoshigami Ruining Blue Earth also should be on this list.. just saying ^^
12:01 Please whats the name of the Song ? PLEASEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thrill Kill is the one you missed 👍🏻👍🏻
Still waiting to see Dragon Seeds on a PS1 video... Maybe eventually
Awesome vid!
The banner returns
i thought i was the only man who played xena on ps1 lol
Haha now there’s two of us 😅
Ex troopers music at 10:30
What song fif they use at the end of the outro of the video, I like that song ^^
