  • Almost done! Got it far enough along to see if it will move or not. Just a few things left to do before taking it on it's first test run! So far, I'm really happy at the way this is turning out!!

      @@logicaredux5205 That's for sure! I've always like to make things, but this is a first. If it works out well enough, I might make another a little smaller. I think shorter would be a little better to turn.

      Great! They are a really neat idea. Even bought new, factory made, they are a lot less money than a snowmobile. Some models fit in the trunk of a car also. I wonder how it will be in deep powder snow, it might just burrow under it, but I think it will work in most snow conditions.

    Muskrat, that is awesome! One idea I had after you said that it could be a little tipsy (top heavy) that maybe you could add a very basic roll cage around the motor to protect it in case it does roll. That might make the difference between walking back and riding back on one of your excursions. Can’t wait till the handle bars!

    • @MuskratOutdoors
      @MuskratOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think so too. Sooner or later, it will tip over. I sure don't want to break anything like the carburetor off! The factory made ones all have a hood of some sort over them.

    Loosen the chains and add a spring loaded chain tensioner on each chain. That will relieve the tress on both the engine and the jack shaft.

    • @MuskratOutdoors
      @MuskratOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I need to do that. The chain bounces too much. If it was snug with a tensioner, I think it would be getter.

    I’m thinking it may not be an issue if there is flex in your engine mount. An auto has rubber mounts and flexes noticeably when you put a load on it.

    • @MuskratOutdoors
      @MuskratOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure either. It moves, but not a lot. I did put a piece of rubber belting under the engine and that might be part of the reason? I guess I'll try it like it is awhile and see if it is a problem or not.
