I don't think Drake established that artists didn't need a record deal to be big. Soulja Boy was the one who did that. Drake is the better rapper and is more successful of course. Soulja Boy is a clown rapper imo but people forget he changed the game, for better or worse. He showed TH-cam was a viable platform for rappers and was the first one to market himself like most rappers do nowadays.
