A lot of their music contains references to body dysmorphia, gender norms and toxic relationships at least from the song s i have heard. Is this something that's personal to them or have affected them? I would like to know but the interviews i have watched so far don't bring this up
I know ryan and jasmin dated but i just wanna know does any of mother mother songs tell about their relationship cause im pretty sure letter and worry tell
@@yourcreepynightmare8327 According to a podcast interview with Jasmin in 2019, throughout their relationship, the break-up and the period of heartache, most of the band's lyrics were fictional story telling. Writing about himself only became a regular occurrence for Ryan later. However, one old song that is confirmed to be about the relationship, is Arms Tonite, written late 2006. A few years ago they made a very cute TikTok video of the two of them listening to the original demo Ryan made for her, which is much softer and more obviously a love song than the released version. I guess it was intended to dispel the theory that lots of people had somehow become convinced of, that it was about masturbation. They're alone reminiscing in a parked car with this super romantic nostalgic track playing, and the way Ryan decides that's enough and stops the CD before it finishes is funny. It has the energy of either "I can't listen to my cringey still-learning-to-sing old self a second longer", or "oh God, if we let this play through and fall silent we will f--- right here in your car and ruin everything". Can't tell which it is, lol. And a song that seems likely to be about them is Worry, the writing of which is credited to both Ryan and Jasmin, which is very rare for the band. According to a 2015 article, they wrote it eight years prior; so, 2008, which was in the middle of their relationship. I haven't seen them say anything about it, so, I won't say it's definitely about them while they haven't confirmed that. It COULD have just been the usual fictional and free-association writing process from that era, but with Jasmin contributing. I mean they did live together, so she could have occasionally made suggestions for songs she heard, and the subject matter could be coincidental.
lmfao humbling to know that anyone would want to hear about us. Yup, that's the ego complex; feeling like your worth nothing despite being so amazing. Hashtag artist. :P :P :D
