I truly appreciate and enjoy your teaching style. I am watching the entire 8 videos and then will go back and try my hand at making this really cute top. I'm an old lady, recently retired, who tried to teach myself to sew a top years ago. It was a complete disaster, and I was so frustrated and disappointed that I never tried again. I've recently started learning piecing quilts by videos, and kind of accidentally found your series of 8 videos to sew this top. For my learning style, I like how you separated each learning step in this process into individual videos. This is so much better than rewinding and fast forwarding to find what I need to review or follow along. It seems like I'm right there in a class with you. Also seems like you're answering my questions just about the time I ask them. I'm feeling pretty confident and hopeful about this project. And I can't wait to do this!!! Wish me luck! Thank you! Thank you! You are a gifted teacher!

Vanessa, your top turned out just lovely! I find myself wanting to do this sew-a-long just for the fun of doing it with everybody else! I never knew about glue basting until you taught us in the quilt club; and I never thought about using it for garment basting before until I saw this video. Just a genius idea! No pins to stab you or get in the way of your sewing. I remember, when I was young, seeing my mom attempt to apply a bias binding to something with a million pins sticking out of it, and it always brought her to tears, because it would end up all wonky. Wouldn't she have been thrilled to know about the glue basting thing?! She's almost 91 and she doesn't sew too much anymore. But she would just be thrilled to know about this tip. Like I said before, I always learn something new from you; keep up the good work!

I ordered the pattern and bought some lovely challis at my local fabric store. I cannot wait to sew this top with you Vanessa. I've sewn for many years, but have picked up bad habits along the way. Looking forward to getting back to the basics. PLEASE consider doing more videos like these. I absolutely love your teaching style.

Thank you so much for this step-by-step, detailed tutorial. I am so grateful as I'm a beginner sewer and I don't think I could have successfully made this shirt without your help. I lucked out that I had just bought this pattern on sale at Joanne Fabrics and did a search to try to find help and came across your video. I've made the top three times so far and learned so much each time I made it. Thanks again!

Thank you for this series! This is a great refresher for me, and I learned some new things (such as that bias neckline)! I'm turning 60 next year, and this will be my first garment that I'm making for myself! I made things for my kids when they were babies and toddlers. It's about time, eh? Thanks again, Vanessa!

great tutorial, Vanessa! Even though I'm a seasoned sewist, I enjoy watching your videos to help light that sewing spark, and to see different approaches to sewing. If I were a beginning sewist, I would find your extensive instructions bring clarity and answer the whys and hows of what sewing is. (Like being in the classroom and asking questions - your comments and instructions anticipate the questions and concerns beginning sewists would have.) Thank you for all you do. -j

Thank you for this tutorial. I completed my top and it looks like I purchased it from the store. I learned a lot and will use what I learned going forward. BTW, I'm going to make this top several more times using different fabrics and using different views; also my daughter has requested several tops. These will be staples in our wardrobe this summer. I'm getting back into sewing and this tutorial has refreshed my knowledge and taught me how to correctly measure and size for using patterns and your tips made everything clear and easy to understand which, for me, makes the sewing process fun and so much more enjoyable.
Please, please continue to do more tutorials. I will be watching for them. Thank you.

Thank you so much. I have been sewing for years but it is good to see the newest way to do things.

Excellent tutorial. I’ve never tried the glue technique or the pre-pressing of the bias tape. Will definitely try that on my next garment.

Thank you so much for the video. I have been sewing for a long time but there are always hints that other people have that help you. I am definitely going to try the water soluble glue and some of the other things you have mentioned. I have been wanting to make some blouses because of my pear shape nothing in the stores fit me without coming home and altering them. I think this simple design is just what I needed to make some blouses for summer.

Great Tutorials - I'm looking forward to trying this pattern and your techniques. I'm also looking into getting the Juki F-600 Sewing Machine. I've had my Pfaff for over 20 years but I'm ready to upgrade to a new machine and I like the features the Juki F-600 has. Thanks again!
