Good effort mate. You’re just at the start of the season so I wouldn’t worry about cracking at 8mins. Especially when you’re not focusing on your top end in training, yet! Looking forward to seeing what you can do come mid year 💪
Yo EJ, I have noticed something. When the gradient eases off you tend to shift into a bigger gear immediately causing you to get a massive drop in power because your cadance drops from 90 ish to 80 or below. What I advice you to is to practise spinning out the gear before you shift into a bigger one. This would be like going from 90 cadance to around 100 cadance before you shift into a bigger gear causing you to go back to a cadance of around 90 instead of 80 and repeat this for the whole downhill section. This means you have a much less severe torque spike and therefore the power wont drop as much when the gradient eases off. Remember power = torque * cadance so it is logical when you going near all out and you drop the cadance all of a sudden your power drops. It is better to avoid this at all cost (unless you going to ride out of the saddle for a bit).
You only need 2 points in the curve to find your critical power. 3min and 12min is enough. And its more accurate than the 20min test because the 20min test assumes we all have the same anaerob capacity.
bro I think that your heartrate isn't accurate, because it goes up and down a lot in the all out effort. This is not normal, even big stars like pogacar do not have a drop in heartrate in a all out session.
I don't get how HR doesn't react faster here. When I do short bursts of sprints mine takes 20bpm in 15 seconds. Yesterday I did a 3' interval @133% ftp and I went from 135 bpm to 180bpm in 1'20". I don't understand.
You know i have never ever bust my arse on a indoor trainer device as im just way too old skool & kool to be seen on any of those new fandangled digital thingamagies that you youngsters so rave about as in me im 58 years young & been doing this from age 3/4 & built my very first road bike at age 12 with ❤ & attention from my dad Raymond Jonas ( god rest he's soul, sunrise March 1933 to sunset April 2004 ) & our local bike shop top mechanic expert in all things peddle bikes in Mr Bob Samuel, Bob's Bike's Effra Road, Herne Hill "circa 1972-94" who supplied me with all essential bike components to build my very first road bike with Shimano Dura Ace 9 speed chrome rim brake full groupset that i paired with at the time with 19mm tubeless Continental tyres that you had to lituatley glue to your Mavick alloy rims all set in to your Renonyls cro-mo alloy state of the art 501 frame with alloy seat post, stem & drop handlebars...,push lever shifters either side on the down tube & if you didn't have Shimano Dura Ace components on your road bike then the very next best thing that was all the rage as the real people's groupset mid 70's right up to well into the 80's was Suntour EXT..,aint got a clue what EXT stands for but at the time in me being a kid this was the sought-after groupset of the people that was all the rage..,i grew up in Herne Hill on the cycle track in the 70's when it was just known as the Herne Hill Stadium we as a kid i gained my bronze, silver & gold in cycling events from age 9 up untill my mid 20's where i achieved all i could from our mentor & stern teacher in Mr Robertson who was our above & beyond the scope in all things cycle in track events ( follow the black line at speed ) which for us at that era was the Naz car in single speed bike challenge banking at speed all in the left hand scope..., many of you young people won't have a clue in what im talking about but the older ones in us let's just take a break, raise our glasses to take time out to celebrate those passionate years that defined us at who we are today as im still cycling with my custom £6.2k build that can rivel any bullshit mainstream £8,10,12,14k so called superbike as my bike has the latest bells & whistles top shelve components to hand.., Full carbon 7000e Reacto frameset that came with a 15 degree areo 380mm carbon seat post, 440mm Vision Metron full integrated carbon 5D drop handlebars, Shimano 8150 full hydraulic disc 12 speed Di2 groupset & last but not least Prime, Black Edition 50mm carbon rims set with bladed aero carbon spokes & hubs all hand built by Pete Owen at Rat Race Cycles over in Nunhead South East London which is a win, win & as it be all set with TPU tubes all wrapped up in 28mm Continental Gp5000s black chilli compound race tires set at 95 psi rear & 85 psi front as i weigh in at a healthy 98kg 🤭😉😃

Great effort, this video just shows the reality of training and how there are peaks and valleys. Keep up the good work you are doing great
Trying to plot the entire power curve one by one sounds way more miserable than any other test I can even imagine.
Is that not a common thing ?
I did that last year on short efforts to try to see what area of my sprint needed improvement.
(Answer was all of them)

Agreed. Definitely inaccurate.
Great effort I'm sure that later in the season you will reach your goals
Sometimes she goes sometimes she doesn't. Good effort.
How do you set up all the data info on the screen? I’ve heard someone talk abt it but can’t remember where to look for it
Dude those power numbers are wild!!🎉
would be awesome to have a mintues in or left in the effort running as well.
That was hard to watch. Those last few minutes were brutal.
Will you be at Valley of the Sun?
Yes!

His monitor is no good. Yours sounds more accurate.
You should show your numbers at the end of your vid, like VC did back in the day
Beast 🤘🏻
NT
I will not be doing this good on ya 😂
I mean you did 411w for 20 mins some time ago. 400w on sore legs is not that bad.
Top stuff Ej 🇬🇧 🤙 👌
doing head gaskets in January 2025, your be on course for the best season dude 🤯🤯🤙🤙
2400 watt peak? Must be on Shimano power meter
Oh yeah haha that was when my rotor PM was on the fritz. That’s not real
@EJ I’m going to make a hour long pod of me only breathing at 180 bpm and make you listen to it with the best headset money can buy.
Deal! 💃
@@Ejstrainingcamp where did you tell your avg in this video?
only cycling fans
Lol
You didn't explain your 12 min avg at all?
400w
you started too hard you shoud do negative split
400w isn't that bad... for a 60year old :P
First 🎉
You're such a legend!
Oh my god Hes still at it!! Legend. ❤
