Never thought I'd be saying this but I've come to realize in my old age I kinda love this set. I'd take it in an instant over 60197 It's part nostalgia, part what you said. It had character. LEGO made this set during a time of financial crisis and it shows; but limitations breed creativity and that definitely shows here. I found this set in a bin I got at a garage sale for $100 and before then, I never knew LEGO made trains. I instantly wanted more, but the year was 2009 and power functions were all in. I got the Emerald Night and 7939 for xmas that year; but always did prefer the 9v system and the way you could make small engines. Thanks for shedding light on a set that many 9v fans try to overlook. It's definitely not the worst thing ever. That'd have to be the UCS Hogwarts set ;) P.S. love your xmas lights. As a kid I'd run these around my room year round because I loved the way the trains reflected them, so seeing others do it is like a huge nostalgia moment
These types of comments are the reason why I love making these videos. Hearing your history with these sets and the memories this video brings back is amazing to hear. I wish we could go back to something like the 9-Volt era, or even just to have a dedicated trains theme again.
Thank you! I have been acquiring more trains in the hopes of continuing. So far I can guarantee 3 more 9 volt reviews. Hopefully I can squeeze one in before the new year.
I’m glad you liked them, I did a lot of fiddling to get the mood just right. A little bit of 90s vhs, some vaporwave lighting, and slow music helped a lot.
They’ll definitely enjoy it. I recommend getting some of the other older trains second hand instead of getting the newest sets. They don’t have the same play value as the classics.
I have this set which I got in trade together with 4 other Lego 9v sets in exchange for some 80s action figures. There are indeed many nice train sets from the 90s which I missed out on as those were my dark ages. As I grew up in the grey era I find 4561 to be the absolute lowest level of Lego trains ever, 4559 maybe being a tad lower... IMHO good as a parts donor only
I agree this isn't the greatest train that Lego's made, but I think it captures the creativity that comes with building and playing with lego. Most of their iconic sets are based in fantasy anyway.
If you wish to see more footage of these 9-Volt trains running check out my previous video! th-cam.com/video/N-g8V2hPHIg/w-d-xo.html
Very Nice Video and very relaxing im buying my 4560 in one week for 170€ and you definitely deserve more subs 😊

1 Of the best Lego train sets I ever seen. It’s so satisfying to me.😊
awesome video, would love more reviews in this space

I love this video! Please review another 9v set!
I’d love to! I’m thinking of reviewing the Super Chief next.
Thats the only train set I have, going to get it out of the attic next week for my kids since they are getting into lego.

You've got to be joking!! This set was the WORST Lego ever released. It's based on pure fantasy. 😂😂
