Conner Sullivan yooo I love your soccer vlogs like this one. Bundlesliga matches live seem lit af! Yooo if you ever get the chance to go out more to the U.S. & watch some MLS games live you should definitely do it! The closest to a European atmosphere in MLS in my opinion would probably be a Atlanta United game for sure. The stadium is huge & fans there are sooo fucking amazing. Josef Martinez & Miguel Almiron are the 2 main star players they got over there. 🔥🔥🔥👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Dude 90%of the games are like this game. The other games you went to were derbys. They are always more heated than normal games. Bvb vs Bayern is not a derby BUT the biggest rivalry in German football, in terms of success & quality of the teams, NOT in term of fan culture. They don't really hate each other. But they're are the two best German teams in the last 10 years
The BIGGEST and most NOTORIOUS derby in German football by far is SCHALKE 04 vs BVB DORTMUND . Both cities are just 30 minute from each other and the fan rivalry is second to none in Germany.

So what the guy is saying after someone scored a goal is basically "gooooooal for FC Bayern München, scored by *insert player's first name*" and everyone screams the player's last name *repeat 3 times* and then "new score: FC Bayern München:" and everyone screams the number of goals that the home team has scored and then "*name of guest team*" and everyone screams "null" = zero, no matter if they have actually scored any goals or not, it's always zero. Hope this makes a bit more sense now so you can scream along next time ;)
Edit: As some people have shared the rituals of their clubs I should probably add that my answer only sums up the most important parts of what the guy in Munich usually says because if I remember correctly he also mentions when the goal was scored, the number of the players jersey, and then the whole thing ends with "Danke" (=Thanks) - "BITTE!" (You´re welcome!) just to give y´all the detailed version of whats going on :)

Mannheim is playing there, its one h by car from Stuttgart. the winner will go To league 3. so if you have time, it would be Nice if you came, cause it is not even a professional league. but our Club played once in the Bundesliga, so the game will be sold out . you could See how passionate Fans support there club, even if they are not playing in a high league, cause love doesnt know a league😉. it would be a Nice experience and its not far from you. if you contact Waldhof Mannheim, you would geht easily a card💪 remember, sold out Stadion in the 4th league, an Amateur league.and there will be a choreography😏

Hi Conner, great video again. Regarding your question of the difference in focussing of the fans in Bundesliga 1 to Bundesliga 2 I would like to comment as follows (that is what I think in this particular case):
You cannot compare a Bundesliga 2 game between VfB and KSC with a Bundesliga 1 game between FCB and BVB. VfB / KSC is a real, history-driven, fundamentally long lasting derby with much more than only the football sense.
Consideration 2, although I don't like to say that (as VfB fan) you are right with your thoughts that in a game of FCB vs. BVB there are more people going there to see a good football game with FCB as the best german team, and BVB probably the second. This is more an event, a spectacle for people who are joining and perhaps not being real "fans" as well.
Hope this supports your thoughts .. :D
    Regards Dominik

    - Soccer fans in germany are devided in 3 categories by the Police
    - Category A are the event fans, families and peaceful people with no
threat at all to act criminal (that's what you've experienced here)
    - Category B are the Ultras, they are very passionate and are the
central supporters of the club (where you were at in the stadium) they
are a mediocre threat to act criminal and some of them get banned from
    visiting a stadium
    - Category C in my eyes the worst Category: Hooligans they want to fight
thats what gives them goosebumps they are supporting their club in
their own way by beating people up to show the dominance of the fanbase
    (basically)
    - The biggest Ultras in germany follow Eintracht Frankfurt they are up to 14000 Supporters
    - The biggest Stadium is at Dortmund with a total amount of 81360
    viewerspots
    - They also got the biggest Stand "Südtribüne" with up to 30000
viewerspots (thats more than twice the viewers of your homeground the
    Gazi-Stadium with 11468 viewerspots)
    - In terms of fans i recommend: Dynamo Dresden, Borussia
Mönchengladbach, FC St. Pauli, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hansa Rostock, VFB
Stuttgart, Eintracht Braunschweig, Union Berlin, 1. FC Nürnberg
-Those are Clubs with a good atmosphere and i have to know that, i travelled a lot with my team in the past years.

Rivalries in league 1 can be as intense as in league 2 but the Allianz Arena is like the most high tech stadium in Germany (compareable to US stadiums) so it's like not made to go nuts. Furthermore there are more plastic clubs in Bundesliga 1 and the clubs with tradition who tend to make a fantastic atmosphere are in league 2 or 3. But you should definetely visit Eintracht Frankfurt.

The difference between Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga and also the week clubs in Liga 1, is that the fans of little clubs like Bielefeld, Rostock (3. Liga) or also Aachen (4. Liga) are more interessted in fighting on the field and the tradition, then in seeing good players. At the most time its a fight to keep the club living. For some Clubs, beeing relegated maybe means to "die", so they only want to see their Club winning the games... dosn't matter how. As a fan of such clubs, it dosn't matter how good or bad they are and who is playing for your team... you love your club... so for fans like me, Munich is a very uninteresting and boring club because we only know: Win or die. For them it's: if you loose you've only two titles.

My favourite club plays fourth division and some matches are just totally chill, others are really exciting. You go there, you hike through a forest and try to find the stadium, you enter the stadium, support the team, watch the game and in most cases there are just some two thousand to eight thousand fans present, but they make a real effort to be really loud. Some opponent fans of bigger, former bundesliga clubs though want to make a real impression, drive 250 km before the match to break and enter your stadium and graffiti everything with insults one week before the match just to provoke or stuff like that. Funnily enough, last season we played fifth league and the really small village clubs were the most hostile and vile people against us and tried to intrigue against us because they were scared of us going there with 200 - 1500 fans. Idk, my impression is: the lower the league, the meaner the opponents get because nobody's interested in what happens to you. But this one year in fifth league really melted the club and the fans together and we only love our club more, even if we don't know if we'll have enough money to play at all in the next year.

There are great and crazy derbys from league 1 to league 4
It doesn't matter in which division the teams play it only matters if there is a big rivalry between the teams and the fans
There are some derbys in league 3 or 4 with 20.000 - 30.000 fans in the stadium and also derbys in league 4 with maybe "just" 2.000 -5.000 fans has and great atmosphere und the ultras really freak out in this games
On 25.05. there are the finals of the regional cup's where the winner is qualified for the big dfb pokal and i think there are some derbys in the finals for example probably TuS Koblenz will play against Eintracht Trier which is also a derby and the game is also important because the winner gets much money which the small clubs necessarily need

  • @Listoric
    @Listoric 7 ปีที่แล้ว

It''s basically, the closer the competing teams aare to each other, the closer the cities are next to each other, the higher the rivalry. So a derby is basically two teams from the same town or towns very close to each other. These are heated matchups and often have riot police as hooligans and super dedicated fans just get nuts. Other rivalrys are steeped in history, like teams that often fight in bigger tournaments against each other, like BVB and Bayern München. These matches often have amazing atmosphere as the fans just chant for their teams like crazy, but most often don't get as violent as real derbys, if at all. I haven't watched all your videos yet, but if you get the chance, go to a BVB game in their stadium, it's probably the best atmosphere you can get as a german football fan.

    @tibosaeinbein2187 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Conner:
This was actually a dfb-cup-match, actually a semi-final, not a regular league match.
    Walking around the stadium:
The freedom of walking around the stadium depends actually on the stadium, some are just constructed to not walk around. In Gelsenkirchen(Schalke), Hamburg(deoens here on the game, on rivalary day, they fence the guest section too, but on a normal day you can walk around) but in Stadiums like Dortmund, Gladbach, Leverkusen, Cologne and Stuttgart the guestsection is seperated from the homesection.. In Hannover, the stadium is splitted into 2 sections: the north and the west stand AND the south and the east stands(the guestsection in hannover is in the south). Why? I dunno.
    The Stadiums:
The Stadiums in Stuttgarrt and Hannover and Stuttgart are first league stadiums, the teams just got relegated, but that doesn't make the stadium perse to a 2nd league stadium. They are afaik renked with the best stadium rank a stadium can get from the UEFA (they were 2006 World-Cup stadiums).
A typical 2nd league stadium hasnt much more than 20-30-thousand seats but mostly 15thousand seats.
    The Fans:
There are not many differences between first league, 2ncd or third league fans, on a normal gameday they are friendly with each other. Some are just more enthusiastic than others.
FC Bayern Fans were commonly known as "Klatschpappen"-Fans(remember the things from the bb-game?!, Yes those!).
But when it comes to derby-day/rivalary-day they even clash in 4th division.
    Hope this could help you!

Afaik nobody yet hinted at the fact that this was not a League game but a Cup match. That's why the emotions were so much focused on the game, since it was of high sportive importance.
Bayern got kicked out of one of the two separate big national competitions (Bundesliga is everybody against everybody without any elimination rounds, Pokal=Cup is only playoff-mode: Best of one) - so you shouldn't always expect the same tension in League games with teams of comparable quality (even though the chants and the joy about a win will be there as well).
I wouldn't make so much a distinction between the different leagues, rather between the specific clubs and of course the respective matchup.
The higher the league, the more people will come in average, but differences in numbers can be huge in the same league.
There are two Faustregeln (general rules that generally work with few exceptions) that you can use to estimate a game in advance: the longer the tradition, the more supporters - the closer the opponent, the more intense the atmosphere.
Being neutral, you should try to make it to one of the derbys (like the ones in Stuttgart and Hannover). They were already mentioned, esp. Dortmund-Schalke, Köln-Gladbach, Nürnberg-Fürth. Unfortunately, some don't exist any more since the clubs play in different leagues like the Munich derby, the Essen derby, Hertha vs Union Berlin (maybe next season!) or Frankfurt vs Offenbach. Dresden is also a very intense place as somebody else already pointed out.
A look to the 3rd league could be interesting for you as well since there are currently many Eastern Gernman clubs with a long tradition and a lot of rivalries between them, like Magdeburg, Halle, Chemnitz and Rostock (even though the latter is far in the north). There are also the often neglected derbies in Westfalia between the clubs of the triangle Osnabrück/Münster/Bielefeld. It's more or less easy to get tickets for those games, and they are intense - they even have a recent history of violence between the supporting groups.
Good choices you've made so far!
What actually stunned me a bit is that you seem not to have had any bigger problems with your clothes and filming so far. Maybe you should be a bit more cautious as for that (in case you are not sparing this aspect for reasons of dramaturgy, then it's all fine ;) ). I know you're a tough ice hockey guy, but some experienced German supporters will not hide themselves anyway...
    Have fun!

You should be careful what you say, it's easy to offense a german football fan. In EVERY game are football fans who would kill the other team supporter, and also a few, who would stay calm when they see a rival, NO MATTER which game. Big rival games with fire and riots are also in 1st Bundesliga (and 3rd 4th and so on), you need to search the right ones and get history information WHY they hate each other so you understand a little bit better. So, BVB and Bayern aren't rivals, they're just the best BL teams right now. BVB rival is Schalke, Bayern rival is 1860 Munich. If you go to those games, or other REAL football rival games like Werder Bremen - HSV or Cologne - Gladbach, you would'nt see different team supporters buying fries together:)

Well one aspect thats often overlooked is that Bayern fans are usually more chill than other fanbases because they are used to winning in our league. Most of the time they are chill because they win and if they lose, theres not nearly as much built up tension as in, for example the Stuttgart/karlsruhe fanbases (using this example because Im from karlsruhe and thats the one I can relate to best), who are pretty used to being in the 2nd league by now, eventhough both those clubs used to be some of the top dogs in germany.
Btw since you mentioned that you wanted to see el classico, Bayern vs Dortmund, which you saw here, is pretty much the el classico of germany right now, though theres a new team in the first league thats been looking to change that this season, by getting 2nd in the league, RB Leipzig.

Hi, first of all cool videos, i enjoy them.
its not so much about first or second league its more about the clubs. bayern and dortmund are the 2 most successfull clubs so they have a lot of "success fans" all over germany, while the smaller clubs like stuttgart, karlsruhe or braunschweig there most fans are from the area of the club, they grow up in the stadion and have a really strong binding about the club/city. also you must understand that this game wasnt a derby, like stuttgart-karlsruhe or braunschweig-hannover.
i also wanted to say about your other videos; its not only about hiding from police that fans dont wanna be filmed. most fans in the fanblocks want every1 to support the club, instead of filming.
if you wanna see a pitch invasion you should visit last game of eintracht braunschweig when we (hopefully) go back in league1.
search "braunschweig aufstieg" for some videos of it, to get an idea of how a pitch invasion is. also i have to agree with one of the comments here, visit a frankfurt game. they have the most ultras in germany, great atmosphere.
sorry for my bad english, i hope you could understand me. greetings from braunschweig.

Nice Video as always but without a statement there is something we call in Germany, a "Nebengeschmack" (=negative connotation)
    Just my opinion ofc :)

He got stuck on the Autobahn and hiked to the next pit stop. Had the police talking to him twice. Got only warning comments about how dangarous and forbidden that is. Dont mess around with the german autobahn! It was hilarious but I think they told him to delete it as it is forbidden to walk there.

There are some Derbys in the Bundesliga aswell, Stuttgart and KSC both had their heated matches when ever they meet where ever they meet. There are a couple more matches in Germany like this like BVB vs Schalke 04 and HSV St.Pauli etc. BAyern vs BVB is a rivalry but more because of their respective sucess in recent years (the last 7 titles went to these clubs 5 of them to Munich and the two clubs faced of multiple times across competions).
For some more crazy Atmosphere you should visit BVBs stadium they have a curve where almost with almost 25.000 people in it and in total over 80.000. Furthermore Schalke could be an interresting Stadium too and its pretty loud.
If you are interested in other sports besides football/soccer you should visit a handballgame it the second most popular sport in germany, the german legaue is considered to be the best in the world. Close to Stuttgart there is the home of the Rhein Neckar Löwen currenly the best team in Germany so could be interesting to watch one of their games.
Great Channel keep up the good content.
