Sounds good! If you have trouble finding some you can always get it on the YoTricks website. You may also need a clean bearing to get it to work perfectly. Good luck!
One advantage of the Dash is that it is small. This makes it easy to carry around in your pocket. Being all metal it looks good and plays smooth. The DM2 is quite large which makes it a little easier to learn your string tricks. I suppose if you could only have one you might learn faster with the DM2, but if you have other yoyos like the DM2 then the Dash is an awesome change of pace that plays great when modded unresponsive. If you're in the US or Canada we have free shipping for these yoyos.
They are. However, both yoyos were just redesigned and they now have a larger bearing (but both new models have a bearing that is the same size). The new models have stuff printed on the outside of the yoyo cup, and not just on the inside like the yoyo we show in this video.
Because they cater to the more casual player. That being said, the new Maverick and Dash use a size C bearing, and can be bought with an unresponsive bearing included.
We carry the silicone on the YoTricks website. Sometimes auto parts stores carry it. This mod is for an old model Dash or Maverick. The new models do not need to be modified in this way to be unresponsive. You can tell if you have an old model if you take it apart and the pieces fit together the way the pieces in the yoyo in the video do.
It is hard to say. It is possible it would work, but it seems like the silicone may just leak through the hole where the bolt goes through the yoyo. However, I am thinking that the spacer may keep this from happing since the silicone is so thick. It is worth giving it a shot. That yoyo would be pretty great unresponsive.
Yeah, those bearings can be pretty tight. When that happens to me I put the yoyo in the freezer and wait an hour or so. Sometimes that helps. If you really can't get it off a great option is to get the YoYoFactory Multitool which is designed to get tight bearings off yoyos.
I believe so, but you have to smooth it out yourself which can be very messy. The flowable is better because it will even itself out automatically so there is no mess and it is always perfect.
Either the Maverick or the Hot Shot. Personally I prefer the Maverick, but the Hot Shot is a little bigger so it might be easier for learning tricks. It's hard to say.
If you use flowable silicone instead of the brake pads it is impossible (in my experience) to get it thin enough to work. That is why we sell the brake pads instead of recommending flowable silicone.
If the string has a lot of tension in it, then it could make the yoyo responsive. I am not aware if any particular type of string will make a yoyo responsive, though.
Once it is hardened in you should just be able to take any pointy object, like a small screw driver, and dig it out. It should not give up too much of a fight.
The Dark Magic II plays better, but the Grind Machine has hubstacks. If you are thinking about getting one or the other we have more info about them on YoTricks and if you live in the US you will get free shipping on either.
You could try to clean the bearing, when I did it it did not work very well. The silicone is nice because you can recess it just a bit so it is less responsive.
I have tried cleaning their bearings multiple times, but it has always been a disaster. If you get a chance to try it let me know if you can get it working. I have not seen a new dash with an additional spacer yet, so I will have to keep my eyes open for that. I have seen the new Maverick yoyo can be purchased with a clean bearing, but not the Dash. We always appreciate it when someone like our vids. Thanks!
The old Dash and maverick us an odd size bearing. On YoTricks we call it A+ size, but I do not know if there is a standard name. The new Dash and Maverick use a size C bearing.
It should come out quite easily once it is solid (after it has dried for a day or so). Just use a toothpick or something and it should come right out without damaging the yoyo.
I do not think you can do this, because the bearing on the old dash sits on the yoyo itself, not on the spacers. The new Dash comes with a size C bearing, making it kind of a moot point.
I have never heard of string making a yoyo responsive, and if you did not lube the bearing (which could make it responsive) I'm not sure what may be happening. Let me know if you figure out what is going wrong.
Since no other stores (that I know of) sell the Luminator, I do not know of anywhere else you could get the brake pads to make the Luminator unresponsive.
No it would not. The YoyoJam Speed Bearing is a different size. In fact, it was so difficult for us to find the right bearing we decided to source it out ourselves, so that we now sell it on YoTricks.
I would say the Dark Magic II is has a good price/performance ratio. However, I would rather suggest the Legacy II yoyo. It is almost half the price of the Dark Magic II, but it plays nearly as well. It was designed to be a cheaper version of the Dark Magic, so the shape and feel is very similar. I also have a feeling it is more durable, but I have not yet tested this.
I have not yet seen the Glide for sale. Is it already out? I will not be able to tell how good it plays until I get my hands on one. I should be able to let you know if it can compete then.
Very helpful vid. Thanks! It looks like the new Dash comes with an additional spacer to make the yoyo unresponsive. I've also read that cleaning the bearing, and breaking it in will make it less responsive. Great vid as always!
This is a really easy mod that achieves excellent results. My Dash spins 3-4 times longer than it did straight out of the package, and plays much better.
They have just come out with (or are about to come out with) a line of the Ooch yoyo that is in transparent colors. They work much better than the old white Ooch yoyo. They are very stable.
The bearing on the Xodus is very small, so it is not actually a great yoyo for learning newer types of yoyo tricks. It would not be worth the trouble to mod that yoyo.
hey did ya know that the maverick&dash have been redesigned with a new c bearing and silicone o ring response plus yomega sells a maximum spin pack(the maximum spin pack comes with a clean bearing
hey guys the ooch yo is the first yomega yoyo to have a size c bearing right well is the ooch yo also the first yomega yoyo to have silicone response pads and the first yomega yoyo designed to play unresponsive
well the redesigned maverick has silicone o ring response so the new maverick is semi responsive so you just need to switch the stock c bearing for a clean c bearing or you can just clean the stock bearing
Wow, that is bad. Perhaps you got one with a bad bearing. I did a test myself just now and my Dash slept 1:15 as it comes out of the box, and 5:00 after I set it up with this mod.
hey when yomega said the ooch yo has a size c bearing and silicone rubber pads did yomega mean the silicone rubber pads are just silicone response pads
WaterWhipin The Maverick, as far as I know, is supposed to play responsive. If it is not as responsive as you like you will need to lube the bearing with thick yoyo lube.
help i'm getting a yo-mega dash but at eBay they use outdated info and i'think the new yo-mega dash that is pictured will end up being the old yo-mega dash that when shipping and the outdated info is making me a nervous wreck so plz help me
I applied the silicone with the applicator tip but what do I do with the applicator tip because there are tons of silicone in it and if it hardens it does not work
i do you open it up and there is a part where the string goes and you un loop it so there is 1 loop an the piece and put it back together and it will sleep but make sure the o ring is facing the clutch.
but the new maverick has silicone pads so that eliminates modding and all you need is a clean bearing to replace the stock bearing and your maverick would be playing unresponsive
so why didn't you sell the redesigned maverick& the redesined dash cos they not only have a c bearing but actually have sillicon o ring respnse plus can you sell the clean konkave bearing
The response pads from where I am are expensive. I have a Yoyo Factory One that had its response pads ripped off and i wish to modify it with this, will this work?
my yo yo had the rubber part and that was glued in also my middle part didn't pop out either .I don't have the silicone that you used but I orderd the combo with...string,thin yo yo lube, and yo yo so can you help me
Sounds good! If you have trouble finding some you can always get it on the YoTricks website. You may also need a clean bearing to get it to work perfectly. Good luck!

I'm glad you think so. We have been considering adding spin tops to YoTricks.
That does happen sometimes. Most yoyoers get a YoYoFactory Multitool to help with this problem. We have them on the YoTricks website.
I have also seen Pentax sell a flowable silicone. It is typically used as windshield sealant. Other than that, I'm not sure what you could look for.
This is an older Dash Model, and we use the size A+ bearing. However, a new Dash uses a size C bearing.
Yeah, those bearings can be pretty tight. When that happens to me I put the yoyo in the freezer and wait an hour or so. Sometimes that helps. If you really can't get it off a great option is to get the YoYoFactory Multitool which is designed to get tight bearings off yoyos.

Sorry, what hubstacks? Do you mean hubstacks in general? Hubstacks just allow you to grab and manipulate the yoyo while it is spinning.
If the string has a lot of tension in it, then it could make the yoyo responsive. I am not aware if any particular type of string will make a yoyo responsive, though.
It is not a very standard size, so it can be hard to find. On the YoTricks page we sell it and call it an A+ size bearing.
It is a different way to setup your yoyo for different tricks. We have a video called
What is unresponsive yoyoing
that explains the difference.
Thanks!
This is an old video about a previous edition of the Dash. On our website we sell the 2013 edition, which comes unresponsive.
The old Dash and maverick us an odd size bearing. On YoTricks we call it A+ size, but I do not know if there is a standard name. The new Dash and Maverick use a size C bearing.
It plays smoother on the string because the silicone is recessed a bit so it does not touch the string during play.

Since no other stores (that I know of) sell the Luminator, I do not know of anywhere else you could get the brake pads to make the Luminator unresponsive.
I do not know what floaty means, or what solid means when compared to floaty, and I have not tried dinging it.
I am not sure if it is the first, but you can set the yoyo up to play unresponsive.
The Dash is just a little heavier than the Maverick. I prefer the Dash. New Dash and Maverick models do not need this mod to become unresponsive.
They are pretty close. Probably the Protostar, but it really just depends on what you like.
Unfortunately, those o-rings will not work for this mod. The only way we have found to do it is with the Flowable silicone we used in the video.
I have not yet seen the Glide for sale. Is it already out? I will not be able to tell how good it plays until I get my hands on one. I should be able to let you know if it can compete then.
If you mean the original response system, you can put it in if you remove the silicone you put in yourself. Otherwise, no.
I like both, but I am not sure if I prefer one over the other.
On a new Maverick or Dash you can. This is a mod for an older model that did not fit the same pads as the new ones.

Yes, the new dash is the same. I didn't really care for how they played all that much. I'll need to keep trying them to see.
Have you tried going back to slick string?
Unfortunately, we (YoTricks) are the only ones who sell these extras specific for the Luminator. We have them custom made.
Possibly, their new model is pretty great.
For a plastic yoyo it does grind good. Metal yoyos grind much better, though.
I have not tried those. Is there one you recommend?
I have tried them and I am not sure I like the new version enough to sell yet.
The Duncan Flipside is an Amazing yoyo and Out Performs many Metal yoyos. Definitely get one if possible.
mine is unreponsive, i know how to make it come back up doing the string trick, but how do i make it reponsive
juice box you use thick lube
The bearing on the Xodus is very small, so it is not actually a great yoyo for learning newer types of yoyo tricks. It would not be worth the trouble to mod that yoyo.
Did you lube the bearing?
It takes about an hour to dry... but if you let it sit for 24 hours before you use it it will "set" and last much longer.
No a size A bearing will not fit, it is too small. The Yomega bearing is close to a size C, but that size bearing will not fit either.
You could do that, or you could simply wipe the excess silicone out after you pour it.
You can get it on the YoTricks website.
hey did ya know that the maverick&dash have been redesigned with a new c bearing and silicone o ring response plus yomega sells a maximum spin pack(the maximum spin pack comes with a clean bearing
This mod would not work for a Duncan Misquito and I do not know of any mod that would make that yoyo unresponsive.
I actually do not know much about them myself. We would consider bringing in a pro if we decide to add them to the site.
If you already know how to bind I would suggest the Dash.
hey guys the ooch yo is the first yomega yoyo to have a size c bearing right well is the ooch yo also the first yomega yoyo to have silicone response pads and the first yomega yoyo designed to play unresponsive
well the redesigned maverick has silicone o ring response so the new maverick is semi responsive so you just need to switch the stock c bearing for a clean c bearing or you can just clean the stock bearing
The Dash is a little heavier making it better for more advanced tricks.
Actually, when these yoyos are setup to play unresponsive they are pretty fantastic for the price.
The Ooch will not grind so well, but the Dash grinds just fine.
My maverick was unresponsive. But wen I changed the string, it became resposive. Is there a specific string it should have?
The bearing in my Maverick is stuck to the side of the yoyo and I can't even pry it free. Is that normal?
would you recommend this yoyo over a dark magic because of the yoyo being made of soild metal?
Im confused. I thought the maverick is an unresponsive yoyo. I can barley get it to return without binding.
WaterWhipin The Maverick, as far as I know, is supposed to play responsive. If it is not as responsive as you like you will need to lube the bearing with thick yoyo lube.
I do not think it will just fall off while playing.
help i'm getting a yo-mega dash but at eBay they use outdated info and i'think the new yo-mega dash that is pictured will end up being the old yo-mega dash that when shipping and the outdated info is making me a nervous wreck so plz help me
On your website it says the yomega dash comes unresponsive out of the box but in the vid you say they're responsive so which is it?
what does it mean to have an unresponsive yoyo... is that bad or good?
I applied the silicone with the applicator tip but what do I do with the applicator tip because there are tons of silicone in it and if it hardens it does not work
+Large Face This just happens. The next time you want to use the silicone you will have to remove the hardened silicone from the tip.
can a regular size A bearing fit on it too? or is the size A bearing close to size with a standard yomega bearing ?
Sadly, it has not arrived yet :(
i do you open it up and there is a part where the string goes and you un loop it so there is 1 loop an the piece and put it back together and it will sleep
but make sure the o ring is facing the clutch.
I believe it will!
That is a tough one, not sure how to help you out on this one.
@nianbo zhang Actually I am not sure. I should be getting one soon so if I remember I'll let you know.
Of course you can. However, the yoyo will not play unresponsive that way.
If a yoyo is not responsive enough that means that the bearing needs to be lubed.
Can you explain to me the difference between the Maverick and the Dash please?
Is there a difference between maverick and dash? (Other than colour and printing)
but the new maverick has silicone pads so that eliminates modding and all you need is a clean bearing to replace the stock bearing and your maverick would be playing unresponsive
No, to make it unresponsive you will need a clean bearing.
so why didn't you sell the redesigned maverick& the redesined dash cos they not only have a c bearing but actually have sillicon o ring respnse plus can you sell the clean konkave bearing
are you still sure the redesigned maverick\dash will get shipped with a size c bearing even though the info i saw on ebay is outdated
The response pads from where I am are expensive. I have a Yoyo Factory One that had its response pads ripped off and i wish to modify it with this, will this work?
John Kikz The brake pad recesses are too shallow for this to work, I believe. On your first or second throw I think it would just peel right out.
why did yo mega make the maverick and dash really responsive and didn't use a size c bearing
They are too different to compare. We will be selling the Glide on YoTricks, however.
for a maverick can you use a pro speed yomod silicone response pad to make it Unresponsive or not???
The Maverick is lighter and responsive. The Dash is heavier and unresponsive.
No it has not, I sent them an email today because I think they forgot to send it.
is the yomega maverick bearing the same as the yomega dash bearing
my yo yo had the rubber part and that was glued in also my middle part didn't pop out either .I don't have the silicone that you used but I orderd the combo with...string,thin yo yo lube, and yo yo so can you help me
+Kayden Rundel What yoyo is it?
