I know you said the snap box isn't stamped, but it is. Anytime you see that "box of Doom" it's a metal stamp they press onto the leather. Sorry to burst your bubble. It's not hand tooled 😬

It's not absolutely stacked and the snap box as you call it "is" machined. You need the 4x4 stacked plates. And still need more homework.
