Man, microscrapping is so satisfying. I get all my tools and my little bins lined up and just go to town. I was in the zone for like three hours last night tearing down five old flat screen TVs from the trash (2x fluorescent LCD, 2x LED LCD, 1x plasma screen!) and it was just marvelous. I won't make any money and it's arguably a waste of time but man do I love it. Cheers, bud!

I just sold a weedeater ($270 new) for $10 on Facebook Marketplace, even though it didn't work. So always try selling for parts or repair before scrapping.
Now this was a timely video for me. I have a weed eater I was going to turn into a garden art project but I may just disassemble it first to remove the copper and brass before I use the main part for the art project.
I take things apart, mostly bigger things like parking lot lights for example, but I just don't have time to take small things apart, I do have some time in the dead of winter tho,.I wish I did Have more time to do it, it's awesome that you do! Great video!
Don't be disappointed the last 4 that I scrapped unfortunately had aluminum windings. Also I never heard the term #1 steel. Is that for steel larger than 1/4" thick? And thank you for the prayer for depression. Thanks
@@aaronedmunds4829 yeah that’s my experience with them as well. #1 prepared steel is somewhere around that thickness, it can vary depending on scrapyards though. You’re very welcome for the prayer.
I do strip insulated wire but nothing above 14 gauge is where I draw the line. Some only strip 10 gauge and lower. It really depends on the prices you get from local scrapyards for insulated copper wire price versus clean copper prices. You’re welcome! 😃

At my yard I’m very lucky for plug in or electric weed wackers I get dirty aluminium $0.40kg or if I remover the shaft I get copper bearing motor $1.30kg and of course shred $0.20kg .. but I live in South Australia so we have some of the best scrap prices in Australia
If Im not mistaken what you call shread we call shearing on this side of the pond . I also wated to say I have been pulling the pins from plugs for a while now , just got a new contact for moulded plugs that can no longer wok on the appliance . this supplier has also promied me over heated and or burnt out motors ( the guy deals in small appliance repairs ( I have been trading with him for a number of years
We may have crappy scrap prices but luckily we dont have to pay to go to the dump. I'm sure we pay for it in taxes because it is operated by the Parish but we dont pay when we go.

I compress the graphite with extreme pressure and heat into diamonds.😂
