Florence is an incredibly beautiful city. The museum’s are filled with wonderful artwork, sculptures, and antiquities. The best part was standing in awe of the statue of David. The flawless milk-white marble is mesmerizing and captivating.
Looking at the art and even the Ariel views of the city, it is so beautiful it doesn’t look real, but I know it is. I would love to visit Europe, there is little that can compare to this type of art and architecture in the US.
"Giovanni . . .his son Cosimo the Elder whose own son Lorenzo the Magnificent . . ." at about 5:41. Is it not missing Pietro between Cosimo and Lorenzo?
I imagine da Vinci, Michaelangelo, and Raphael being the rockstars of their time. There was no recorded music, but the great paintings and sculptures could be visited again and again like listening to a CD anytime. I wonder if they were thronged in the streets by fans like a movie star. I believe Raphael was the most sociable of the big three. He went to all the local big wigs lavish parties and was treated like a prince. Leonardo was excellent on the lute and had a sweet singing voice and I understand he made more money as a musician than an artist. Michaelangelo wouldn't be caught dead outside his filthy sleeping cave in the basement of the Sistine Chapel. If I had a time machine, I think it's them I would go to see and stalk them like they were Scarlett Johanson. Maybe go further back first and meet Jesus, then go to the renaissance and tell them they are painting Jesus all wrong, his beard was red, haha.
I hate it - why is it, that english speaking comentators never ever learn the proper pronounciation of names? The proper pronounciation ist the one of original nation. Pls do a better work, or I will quit vids half way - here after 4:10
OMG, shouldn't be such a snob. It's not all that annoying. Van Gogh expected his last name to be 'murdered', that is why he signed his paintings Vincent.

This is a lovely video, but you should really learn to pronounce the names correctly. For example, "Croce" is pronounced KROCH-ay (the accent is on the first syllable). Also, if you are going to sport a French accent when saying the word `'Renaissance", you should not pronounce it in the American way: in French (and in English), it is ren-AY-sance.
Santa Croce has a blue “Seal of Solomon” aka”Star of Davis” above the front entrance. Is it NOT a Roman Catholic Church? Or is there a secret being revealed “” hidden in plain sight”😂
This is because the church’s architect, Niccolo Matas, was Jewish and incorporated the symbol into his design. For that very reason, he wasn’t buried inside the church but under the threshold.

the baptistry doors in this video are not the ones for which Ghiberti won the competition against Brunelleschi. They are the second commission.

It’s probably a computer generated voice.

I honestly think it's the most overrated city I've ever been.
