Thank God... sexism, extreme consumption, powemongering, industry manipulation of politics. All the things that jeopardize those who have little. But it seems inescapable even nearly 40 years later. I will say though... makes for unique entertainment!
Dignity and Sable are two different things. Have you watched the Colbys? Sable was gorgeous, but she had no dignity at all. Even Alexis was way better...
@@anastasialem6866 Yes, I watched it and the character also took a completely different take in the 9th season of Dynasty. In this scene though.. Beacham is sublime.
Way better for what? Making enemies? Upsetting people, and sleeping or whoring with strangers? She was good Ggrant it but Alexis wasn't all that. She never faces an equal and worthy nemesis before either until her cousin Sable came into to tangle with.
Now that’s acting! Stephanie Beacham giving a masterclass to the entire Dynasty ensemble is boss in this scene. Her training and skill is superlative. Even The great Charlton Heston is moved to surrender the scene to her. Brilliant!
I love me some Stephanie Beacham. She played this part so well my nose started running profusely. I'm so beside myself in awe. Damn Sable you could teach the Class, Dear. You got me.
I think she was a brilliant casting choice, and a lot if it was how she contrasted with Joan. There was something nearly supernatural about Joan, she was so much larger than life and took up the screen so powerfully they clearly needed to find a foil for her that could echo her grandeur. So they found Stephanie - a stroke of genius, both Joan and Stephanie were equally radiant but as if with a different kind of light, Joan's sharp, starry, mesmerising clarity and goddess-like presentation contrasted sharply with Stephanie's earthier, more natural grace and regal composure. Winter versus Autumn.
Stephanie Beacham came to slay and slay she did. She is absolutely magnificent, and you can’t help to feel for her (no matter what her character has done up to this point in the story). For me, this is the single best performance on any episode of Dynasty or the Colbys.
God she's magnificent. I love her so much. She owns this scene. It's as if the "great" Heston isn't even there lol; she absolutely eclipses him. Maybe the best scene of the whole show.
Say what you want about the Colby's overall.... this was pure Gold. Like a scene from the Golden age of Cinema! Her and Missy's scenes were stunning as well. I olny wish we could have seen Sable and the "Pamela Sue Martin" Fallon together... that would have set off a few sparks as well.
she acted the hell out of that scene. as ruthless as her character could be, at times, you could always understand her side of things. she was far more complex a 'villain' than alexis was.
She owned this show…eclipsed them all! The Colby’s failed because it tried to copy the Dynasty script versus being its own. Can you imagine if they’d made this show truly powerful.
Speaking of fur, I love that Sable’s haircolor is the exact same color and has the exact same sheen of Barguzin - the famed and exorbitant Russian sable. The stylists were incredibly detail oriented and perceptive.
Amazing acting from Stephanie Beacham at her best! This was in my opinion the very best scene in The Colbys! So sad they ended it after 2 seasons & that the late great Barbara Stanwyck left after the first season stating that it was a turkey! 😢
Mr charlton heston has many great classic roles and films tolean on in his ledgendary carrer,. And, he wasboth moses and benhur. Rip and in power mr. Heston.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Men like Jason want someone seemingly meek to control. (Mind you Francesca is two-faced and a serial cheater, so he'd view her more as a possession than a person and constantly be driven mad by paranoia and jealousy that someone will try to "steal" her away). He married Sable when she was a sweet, naive 18 year old, desperate for validation. (And considering Francesca married Philip when they were 17 and got pregnant then...that means Jason also went to bed with a 17 year old.) Usually when the age gap is that big it's because the man wants someone easy to manipulate that won't know enough to call them on their nonsense and leave. When Sable started coming into her own, it bothered him. When he saw Francesca, he was still picturing that young, innocent (Ha!) girl he was able to take from his younger brother with no mind of her own.
God I hated Jason and Frankie they were the villains of the series trying to pass for Blake and Krystle Stephanie Beacham was GORGEOUS!! and Elegant. Frankie her sister was bland and just boring plus no chemistry at all with 100 year old Charlton Heston
This is how you not only end a divorce - you end it with class and dignity - right down until the moment she walked out of the office with her head held high and headed toward the elevator with style never looking back! It's a shame they did not leave it on for a few seconds because the camera pans back to Jason and he whispers : Goodbye
Elegance. Dignity. Class. This is the best of the 1980s my friends. You won't see anything like this again on TV.
Amen

That was certainly a spectacular performance by Stephanie Beacham! So beautiful and what a great actress. This scene is just fabulous !

Heston was overrated. Pretty much played the same character everywhere.
This was, indeed, the best scene of the show’s two seasons.
Sable is so beautiful. Her her face is so perfectly perportioned. 🥰
I loved Sable she was georgeous and so sophisticated
This was an Emmy worthy performance.

A stunning performance by Stephanie.
She was amazing.
Was? She still is.

and all due respect to Joan Collins, a much much better actress!
She’s incredible
This was an amazing scene with Sable. I was always team Sable.
Damnnnnn! She acted the HELL outta this!
This show was beyond parody script-wise, as was Dynasty, but Stephanie Beacham deserved an Emmy for this scene.
What an amazing actress
They say love is blind. It must be! Sable is absolutely stunning. Her sister was so dreary! Maybe he couldn’t stand playing second fiddle to Sable!
Sable should have ripped that cheap toupee of jason's head and placed her fur upon it instead!
Yes..I noticed that tuggie ruggie...😅...
She owned this show…eclipsed them all! The Colby’s failed because it tried to copy the Dynasty script versus being its own. Can you imagine if they’d made this show truly powerful.
It really was nothing like dynasty. I dont know why fans say that. it had its own breath. Charlton, Stanwyck, Beacham and Montalban serving up power

Who would want to divorce a woman like Sable ???
Someone who couldn’t cope with a partner of equal intelligence and strength and wanted a meek little woman to make them feel like a man?
@@PaulHaigh072 You explain it well.
Mr charlton heston has many great classic roles and films tolean on in his ledgendary carrer,. And, he wasboth moses and benhur. Rip and in power mr. Heston.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Jason and Sable are the perfect example of strong men NOT REALLY wanting a strong women. Men like Jason want women like Francesca.

Dignity? Seems pretty pathetic to me, she’s begging all the way out the door
Please that long drawn out scene This is The Colby’s
MOSES
Wow
Alexis wore that same stole in another scene
I wish we could have a show like this in today’s world. There’s actually a certain demographic that would tune in.
We will never see this level of real acting again … the Present acting and music is all garbage
How did they make the lovely Stephanie Beacham look as old as this?
any yet Stephanie looked so much younger on Dynasty for Season 9!
Stephanie Beacham is a fantastic actress. She should have had better opportunities to show off her remarkable acting skills.
Was that a rug Heston wore on his head all the time?
is this the part where Jason is marrying Frankie?
Yes
