      no not really it sucks to get cleated you could break you finger or jam it so yes it is for protection

      @StephenCombs17 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not really, son got cleated in 17U tournament and never used a glove before and refused to use one and 1st time got cleared and almost broke his hand when the first baseman stepped on his hand with metal cleats. Guy was 6’7 240. My son wants one now

      It looks dumb af wth are you talking about. Used more the few extra inches vs safety reasons. Baseball needs to get rid of this garbage. 100+ years of thr game and now all of a sudden players need this crap???!!!

    • @TrumanLee97
      @TrumanLee97  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say go with the left handed one because it’s more effective for diving back to bases so if you get cleated by the first baseman it won’t hurt

    Hey Truman, I have a question. Can you use a 12.75 glove that’s not a first basemen model for first base. And will it work well. For baseball.

    • @TrumanLee97
      @TrumanLee97  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve never tried it, but I guess it would work. I do recommend getting a first base mitt though, because it does give you an advantage. A good cheaper one is the Rawlings Player Preferred, which is like $50

    Can you wear the sliding mitt on either hand or do you need to purchase a specific hand also which hand do you purchase it for? I've seen a lot of people wear it on the left hand how come?

    • @TrumanLee97
      @TrumanLee97  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You wear it on whichever hand you use to touch the base with when you dive. You do need to pick the specific hand you want it for because of the thumb hole on the side

    this is just a fad. Hand injuries from sliding are not common at all. also the pros using them are getting paid big bucks to wear them and make them look cool. I'd take those $50 and put it toward a better bat or glove.

    What a sorry excuse to gain a few extra inches on the slide. Baseball is slowly becoming like football and basketball. 100+ years of ball and now players think a sliding mitt is needed?!?! LAME

    • @TrumanLee97
      @TrumanLee97  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The point isn’t to get extra inches on your slides. The point is to protect your hand from getting cleated, protect it from hard tags, and protect your fingers from getting jammed as you dive into the base. If you look at the mlb, most players use sliding mitts now because they really do work.
