Let me tell ya', I've been drifting the country for the last four years. I've slept in just about every environment you could think of. And, in that environment, the ground is... bumpy. If you don't have padding, you're either inexperienced, a bit on the slow side, a masochist, or as tough as nails. LOL... ALWAYS take padding with you, if at all possible, or find something you can use as padding. If not, you get little sleep, and spend the next day in a haze, and even if your just camping, that makes it more likely you'll make mistakes, lose things, hurt yourself, etc.
Broham, you need to just keep a mini set of spices in your car trunk. I use several small, cheap travel salt-n-pepper shakers for salt, pepper, cayenne, curry, cinnamon, other spices and keep it all in a cleaned-out plastic Ovaltine jar in a corner of my SUV's steel security drawer. Used a label maker to label each shaker with what's in it.
Love that cowboy camping, I don't know what's better, the campfire, the food, the music, the desert itself or that whole out in the wild thing, if that makes any sense
Wool socks are truly the MVP. My dog loved going on walks in the -10 to 20 F temp range and some good wool socks really helped let me learn to love it as well lmao
Very motivational James, absolutely love desert camping and don't see enough videos depicting it. I agree, definitely want to be off the ground in Summer months. Using the magnifying lens to start fire was a nice touch. Cheers to you good sir 💪

Dinner looks wonderful even without your special marinade. Yes, that Knorr Mexican Rice mixture likely had a bit of salt within it so not all was sad about the spice level. You did fine. So exciting to camp like that. I did that as a child during an activity for a night with the Summer Camp I attended Southern Calif. in the mountains.

11:20 honestly this is where beers come in useful😅. Otherwise i would ABSOLUTELY not be able to sleep knowing i don't have a shelter above me and a raging pit of fire beside me,and especially after that camping-went-wrong incident last year.
The only problem with that is beers make you pee a lot and man does that get annoying. You get warm and comfortable in bed as the night gets cold, but then you gotta get up to pee and lose and that warmth. Takes forever to get comfortable again
