I'm a late in life learner who has struggled for years with strumming in rhythm and I've listened to lots of instructors, but you are the first one that has made the concept clear and easy to follow. It seems like many people do not understand the struggle around strumming, but you do and I thank you for that.
This has given me so much anxiety, strumming while changing chords. My dad said I shouldnt strum at all as I change chords. But seeing your video is a validation that I've been doing good after all. Thank you!
So just to clarify, you change chords just after you have strummed and are ready for the next strum? For example, you up strum, just when that is done, you immediately change chords in the space between the next strum, which might be down or up? Thanks for the video!
I think of it differently... but we might be saying the same thing. I think of starting the change on the upbeat of the end of the strum so I'm there for the downbeat of the next strum.
for example, i'm learning apologize by one republic, and the transition is between am-f-c and a good pattern for this is AM (DDDU) F (UUDUDUDU) C (DDDU) G (UUDUDU) this is a bit tricky and i get to chord so fast that the up strum is awkward, i wish some of these tutorials would show with a strumming pattern such as this, instead of easy ones where the pattern is the same like DDDDU for each chord. these patterns i gave or feel for the song can be quite challening with the up strum for me and i can't get it and it's been 3 years. other even more complicated i am ok, but a pattern such as this with these 3 chords in particular am-f-c i am struggling still any tips? A tutorial? thankyou kndly
I don't have anything in a lesson per se, but what I suggest is attending my next RGS Live session on YT, and you can write in the chat this question and I'd be more than happy to try to offer some suggestions. Next session is on Thursday June 1st 12 pm PDT/3 pm EDT. Here's the link, drop on by! th-cam.com/users/livel1a98J70-XA
