Good call on Kiora! I feel like I've just won the game whenever I draw that card. Kher Keep has also been solid value. Also, in general I found I win from just having one or two copies of a big token instead of an army of small ones.
My main win condition for my Brudiclad deck most games is to clone Brash Taunter/Stuffy Doll enough times, then cast blasphemous act/star of extinction to instant nuke the table. My playgroup is very casual and I can usually get away with that plan, but it might be too slow for some. I would also recommend Illusory Ambusher (4/1 cat illusion, whenever it takes damage draw cards equal to the damage dealt to it) if you're going that strategy, since you can either make token copies of it then nuke it for huge card draw, or just turn your tokens into a copy of it, and swing into your opponents creatures for damage.
Great idea! Love blasphemous act and particularly Star of extinction. I run Zurgo Helmsmasher with only mass damage spells for wipes like Blasphemous act. Plus every creature and equipment with a stuffy doll effect. Zurgo puts pressure on players when trying to find those cards and has indestructible if I have to wipe the field early and keep presence. I like it more than other types of turbo zurgo wrath decks. Rather than being designed to keep the board clear to swing with zurgo for win. I only need to wipe if someone comes close to being able to kill me. Everyone hates their board being continuously wiped, not my style. Run other cards with indestructible including Yahenni and the Rakdos dragon that sacs a creature to gain indestructible. My favorite win con is Coalhauler Swine+Gisella+Star of Exintction. First commander of mine you've done for this series! And...my deck is a weird, off-type version which benefits little from your tips, heh. Even if you don't get the full 7 mana discount, it's likely going to come down pretty cheap, and can immediately generate a chunk of Treasures. Useful practically every game I got it out. - Sakashima of a Thousand Faces - she got expensive... but had much fun when I was able to copy someone's Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre for 5 times ;)
What I'm a little surprised to not see in the deck is ways to get more value out of those tokens. Feldon is as much for recursion as it is for a token pay-off - it just does that recursion in a token form that is beneficial to the deck. If you take Feldon out, there's not many ways to recur creatures from the graveyard at all. Take it from someone who did exactly what you said, before realising Feldon's true power is as much in getting back what's been removed as it is in simply getting you a token (there are already many cheaper ways - than Kiki-Jiki - to make tokens in this deck anyway). Lannery is a great shout though - I personally use her in my Grixis Marchesa Artifacts deck (mostly based around cheap modular creatures) and am never unhappy to see her instead of an artifact creature. She's extremely underrated as a great piece of ramp in aggro decks!
@@Persy55 Yeah, I've learnt recently to try and achieve draw/recursion/tutoring/ramp/interaction/etc in ways which benefit the deck's main aim (for example - my Brudiclad counterspells are mostly over-costed ones that give extra Clue/Treasure tokens as a bonus, along with a single 'just-in-case' actual Counterspell). Once you see Feldon mainly as a recursion tool that benefits the deck's main token aim (rather than a token creator in and of itself), he becomes a no-brainer!
@@andrewsparkes8829 i agree that the recursion is good to have especially in izzet. I prefer Kikki Jikki cause it has haste if feldon had haste i'd definitely would keep him.
I feel like this is a fairly solid Upping the Average. It's one of my pet decks, so I'd definitely have some things to say about it though. Anything that needs death to work, of your creature or another, doesn't belong in the deck. Clone Legion is too expensive after mentioning the 10-mana spells. I don't mind the inclusion of Krenko, but I think there should be other goblins in the deck. I use Dragon Fodder, Empty the Warrens as well. If I had Krenko in the deck, I'd run Krenko's Command. I think being able to make a lot of tokens quickly is important, so that's why I like spells that make tokens. I just realized I also have Mogg War Marshal, Beetleback Chief (basically a red Whirler Rogue), and Siege-Gang Commander. A new card that NEEDS to go into Brudiclad is Sakashima's Will. My reasoning is that it basically does what Brudiclad does depending on what tokens you have out. If you've got no good way to make a token copy of something, and you have a 1/1 Goblin out, you can turn your goblin token into the other creature you've got and the once-Goblin token retains it's token status. The card is only $0.33. My other kind of card that I really like are tribal cards that give other creatures of a certain type +1/+1. For example, Supreme Phantom, Rageblood Shaman, and Corsair Captain. Also, since there will be so many tokens entering the battlefield (they don't count when they become a copy of), I'm trying out Purphoros, God of the Forge as a way to "reach." Sometimes you just can't attack, so you need something you CAN do. I will applaud mention of Flameshadow Conjuring. I've stared at that card so much and I'm just going to take it out now. It's never felt great....idk. I might just need to replace it with Sublime Epiphany, but that costs so much too...but it's an instant...and a token maker, and a bounce spell, and a card draw spell. Last thing I will mention is Helm of the Host. I don't think it's worth it in Brudiclad. It costs a lot, it doesn't help much to make a copy of Brudiclad or any other legendary in this deck, it's just a really expensive token maker. Five to equip...I'd just rather cast something like stolen identity. I feel like there are more copies of it somewhere that can be included. Wait, oh my gosh.... Is Dance of Many NOT on this list?
I also happened to get a Jeweled Lotus in my Commander Legends box. It's not budget of course, but this was the one deck I decided it should go in. A 6 mana commander that's a finished...I really want to be able to cast the commander AND copy something in the same turn, and Jeweled Lotus has actually let me do that in the same turn.
i love the gimmick of brudiclad commander decks and i tried myself building one. My personal recommendations (which are not for you if you want to stick with a budget deck) for cards with the most value in here are: goldspan dragon (flying/haste, treasure spam. drop 5, you can cast it the turn before the commander and provide a token), utvara hellkite (free 6/6 dragon tokens. yay) and fable of the mirror breaker (i think i don't have to explain how much value this cards provides) BUT i also like a lot Professional Facebreaker, Chromehost seedshark (your non creature spells provide additional value by creating tokens), third path iconoclast (samesies but without increasing power by converted costs) and curiosity crafter (if you manage to create tokens of this you risk to draw your entire deck which is hilarious). I added also Ovika (another token-spamming creature. and it has ward) and sorcerer class to have an absurd quantity of mana to cast big spells and gain advantage. I personally like also Feldon of the third path because you can create tokens of creatures in your graveyard and my personal favourite target to copy, Therisian Mindbreaker. I am not an MTG expert but i am having a lot of fun playing with these cards and hope this helps someone :D
I feel that most people sleep on Sarkhan, the Masterless as a card for this deck. Not only does this turn your token army into respectable 4/4 dragons with flying, but when it does you become essentially immune to being attacked, as all the dragons will ping all but the absolute biggest attacking creatures to death. And it is a $1 rare.
Doesn't Tilonalli's Summoner not work with Brudiclad? She won't trigger until you declare attackers and Brudiclad triggers when you start the combat phase. Am I missing something here?
Can I please ask for a Mogis, God of Slaughter upping the average, i love the deck and i have a semi budget verson compared to the average deck list and it has been working fine but lately i think it needs a boost compared to the other decks against it in my play group. Thanks if you make a video or see this!
There are a lot of other cards that do similar things provided you don't want to run all 7. You can run stuff that gives +1+1 to other creatures of a certain tribe, and if you can make a token of it, you can copy it, so like Supreme Phantom is great because they can REALLY buff each other up AND they have flying. There are also some other good ones that do similar things but have trample for example.
@@andrewlaverghetta715 that's a very interesting idea. I tried building a mono-lords + changelings deck a few months ago but it did not function. This might be a more effective way to build something like that.
I played Brudiclad for a long time. It's very fun and does create games that vary from one another a lot. It's also a challenging deck to play in terms of sequencing and managing resources. A few comments re: your cuts & additions: --Cards like Spell Swindle are too expensive. Izzet decks can struggle for mana and, as you mentioned, Brudiclad needs a board set up before he comes down. Trying to hold up 5 mana to try and counter something that's a) worth countering and b) generates a reasonable number of tokens just isn't gonna work out well most of the time. Granted, I play in a relatively fast meta (not cEDH but very optimized decks). --I agree that Flameshadow Conjuring really doesn't work well. It basically says "all your worthwhile creatures cost 1 more to cast" and again, Izzet decks just don't have the mana to spare. Sequencing is everything in a Brudiclad deck. It's hard to get this down AND get Brudiclad out AND cast a crt AND activate Flameshadow Conjuring all in the correct order and on curve. --Sorry but Trading Post is SO 2015. It's way too slow and it's incremental advantages are too meager for Commander in 2021. For optimized-level decks it's fallen by the wayside along with cards like Gilded Lotus and Deadeye Navigator. --Things that worked well for me were low-CMC token generators. Tiloni's Summoner actually works well a lot of the time; it comes out really early and can easily get 3+ tokens on the board before it's time to cast Brudiclad. Same for other cheap Goblin token producers (like Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin). They also give Brudiclad protection against Edict effects and provide a viable Plan B if Brudiclad is offline for reasons (cough Song of Dryads cough).
One token creator I just added into my Brudiclad deck is Meloku. He can create basically free tokens each turn you don't have a land in hand and in a pinch you can return several lands to hand and create a bunch of tokens all at once. I haven't played it yet but I like the potential.
Not seeing enough love for Brudi’s best friend Sharknado! Cycle it for all your open mana to make a giant flying shark. Then make an army of flying sharks.
This is a great inclusion for sure. It's currently $12 or so, so it's priced out of the budget restriction for the deck, but it's an absolutely *terrific* upgrade! :)
Master of Etherium is a great card to copy and Raise the Alarm can go off with so many other cards. These are among my favourite cards in my Brudibuild.
Inscription of Insight. It is very flexible, bounce 2, draw 2, or makes a big token, it can also kicker for all 3 modes! Commence the Endgame is fantastic and the token it makes keeps its +1/+1 counters when it is copying something else, also it draws 2. These are great because the Average Deck list has only 5 sources of card draw (oops) and that wasn't fixed in the changes (doh) with trading post being the only significant addition, which kind of makes Locust God seem limited potential.
My favorite combo to do with this deck is ult on Tezzeret Betrayer of Flesh (my friends let me for some crazy reason usually) then use brudiclad on Dreamstone hedron, unwinding clock, and then go digging for thopter Assembly. Usually by that point I'd draw about 15 to 30 cards depending on what I want so I get to it pretty quick. And with no max hand size who cares about drawing that much
I've had my brudiclad since he came out. Love the janky plays and I'm now revamping him with all these new copy cards.. need another mirror gallery tho
I disagree on summoner because it is incredibly easy to get the City's Blessing. Unless you're playing with expensive fast mana each mana you spend is it going to be counted for by at least one permanent which means by the time you get to the ability to pump five mana you will 100% get the city's blessing. And that is just in the worst case scenario. You're likely to have the city's blessing many times over by the time this attacks since you'll be ramping the first few turns.
If your Brudiclad deck has more creatures in it Gate to the Afterlife and God-Pharaoh's Gift are some good value engines. Gate is able to recur God-Pharaoh's Gift from multiple places for much cheaper and can make a real mean copy of some little creature or take one that makes creatures when it enters then Brudiclad can make those tokens into the GPG token.
What's the power on this? Battle cruiser? Need NEED to update list with storm kiln artist, then add godo helm for a finisher. My brudiclad is treasure focused... But having hullbreacher banned really made me brudy
Poor acient stone idol, it's my favorite token card in the precon. Getting it under a mimic vat is so amazing, create a 12/12 token that when it dies becomes a 6/12 token that's going to become a 12/12 token the next turn
Yeah, Mimic Vat is one of those cards that stayed in the deck for me for maybe 4 months. It's too conditional. Sure, it can be fun, but it's too inconsistent for me and usually just sits there with nothing to exile.
I think phyrexian triniform would go well in a brudiclad deck that can cheat artifacts from the graveyard. It's a 9 cost 9/9 golem that creates 3 3/3 tokens when it dies
I'm not sure about Shared Animosity. Sure it's powerful, but only in the ideal scenario. It doesn't help you reach that scenario in the first place. In other words, it's a win more card.
Ya I had it in my deck but I cut it out because after playing it a few times it's just too much mana for this deck. There is already sublime epiphany and spell swindle as 5cmc+ counter spell you don't need a third one.
I love too add the new Jace, mirror mage. Because of the insane amount of Card draw and funny things that can happen with the copy of Jace on the field and getting coppied by brudiclad
I'm surprised you didn't mention Dwarven Mine. It makes a free 1/1 when it enters untapped, which should be possible if you have three mountains (not unreasonable tbh), and its downside of entering tapped occasionally isn't the worst. Cut the boilerworks for the izzet snow dual and you're most of the way there for it being reliably entering untapped.
Speaking of cards that I would add, I am really surprised that Twinflame is not in the list. It's a 2-mana copy any creature you control until end of turn, but you can copy something really good like Combat Celebrant or Dockside Extortionist.
One of the first Commander Deck I build. Sadly he's being targeted and my playgroup play so much hatebearers. I include Anax in my Deck since I lack a few cards, even if he's not the best Token Producers. Lo and Behold. I manage to summon him, copy him, sacrifice the original, made 4 token, at combat, Copy a few my token into token anax, sacrifice all but one, manage to get a board full of token out of nowhere. Hilarious Indeed,
Not thrilled with Kiora Bests the Sea God. Don't get me wrong that is a mighty fine body, but the saga is 7 mana. Didn't we cut a 4 mana sorcery earlier simply because we aren't expecting Brudiclad to stick around? I think I would prefer another token clone here.
That's the same thing I was thinking about. It is more likely that the hexproof token would stick around though, and you don't need to do them in the same turn, THEN that next turn their shields are down. Perhaps opponents will let you swing at the open player though. Seven is a LOT. :(
The bad thing is exactly as he said. You probably want to be able to cast Brudiclad AND Hate Mirage in the same turn. That's a LOT. I think I've got it in my turn just because have token makers for your oppoents' stuff is so hard to get, stuff that isn't 5 mana. Luckily you may have some spare treasures, Eldrazi to sac, or excessive mana rocks in this deck. It's still a lot.
i think i have to disagree about Hate mirage because even without brudiclad if your opponents have good E.T.B creatures on board (like Solemn simulacrum) you can still cast it to get 2 good e.t.b triggers
#1 most missed card for Brudiclad -> Smokestack! Any commander that makes a token every turn can use Smokestack to win attrition battles, since you will net neutral and everyone else will be down permanents

OOOOhhhh I don't know why including Urza didn't cross my mind. He makes an ever growing artifact big boi!
My only hope is that Aeon Engine is included in this deck list, because screw that one player in the turn order!
my Brudiclad deck is built around Seven Dwarves. Fifteen of those is a _lot_.
Now you just need an alter with Brudiclad in Snowwhite's dress and you're golden
@@tyrthesemiwise304 delightful. And if I can borrow Josh Lee Kwai's cartoonish Scottish accent, I should say Brudiclad Disney mind.
I played Brudiclad for a long time. It's very fun and does create games that vary from one another a lot. It's also a challenging deck to play in terms of sequencing and managing resources. A few comments re: your cuts & additions:
--Cards like Spell Swindle are too expensive.
Confirm Suspicions is pretty sus, but as an Among Us fan, I'll allow it.
Master of Etherium is a great card to copy and Raise the Alarm can go off with so many other cards. These are among my favourite cards in my Brudibuild.
raise the alarm is white though
Literally just started playing Brudiclad 2 days ago, what are the old?
Hour of Eternity is a pet card of mine for decks like this. Wharf infiltrator is also cute
Would love to see an episode on Yidris
My favorite combo to do with this deck is ult on Tezzeret Betrayer of Flesh (my friends let me for some crazy reason usually) then use brudiclad on Dreamstone hedron, unwinding clock, and then go digging for thopter Assembly. Usually by that point I'd draw about 15 to 30 cards depending on what I want so I get to it pretty quick. And with no max hand size who cares about drawing that much
i have urza and karn what you will take out for them to get in? and shark typhoon can work too?
Awesome video Brudiclad is one of my favorite deck. Can you do Krark and Sakashima partner pair? They're are hilariously fun together!
I've had my brudiclad since he came out. Love the janky plays and I'm now revamping him with all these new copy cards.. need another mirror gallery tho
How about any card with encore? Especially impulsive pilferer and amphin mutineer.
I want a video on Xenagos SO BADLY. Do ittttttttttttttt!
Hope you can do a Vadrok, Apex of Thunder deck soon!
Brudiclad is love Brudiclad is life!
Master of Etherium can get outta hand pretty easily and its 3 ...mana value... is pretty easy to play around with. They make for such a huge swing!
My fav add is Spawning Kraken and Curse of Oppulence
HEY I SAW THAT AMONGUS
I'm not sure about Shared Animosity. Sure it's powerful, but only in the ideal scenario. It doesn't help you reach that scenario in the first place. In other words, it's a win more card.
Secret tech for brudiclad, Calamity Bearer, Time-Stream Navigator.
Counterspell sus
⛔️
Ya I had it in my deck but I cut it out because after playing it a few times it's just too much mana for this deck. There is already sublime epiphany and spell swindle as 5cmc+ counter spell you don't need a third one.
Crush of tentacles for the 8/8 token after boardwipe
I love too add the new Jace, mirror mage. Because of the insane amount of Card draw and funny things that can happen with the copy of Jace on the field and getting coppied by brudiclad
I am trying to build mine around mech titan core
I enjoy Kazul, Tyrant of the Iron Cliffs
I'm surprised you didn't mention Dwarven Mine. It makes a free 1/1 when it enters untapped, which should be possible if you have three mountains (not unreasonable tbh), and its downside of entering tapped occasionally isn't the worst. Cut the boilerworks for the izzet snow dual and you're most of the way there for it being reliably entering untapped.
You misspelled Breya. 🙂
one of my favourites is putting a jace mirror mage an d copying the draw token and draw a ton of cards and win the game XD
I would ask you to do Lucia Sanquin Tribune but I feel like I am getting repeatative
I suddenly have the urge to mutate onto a merge creature and clone/make copies of it.
Speaking of cards that I would add, I am really surprised that Twinflame is not in the list. It's a 2-mana copy any creature you control until end of turn, but you can copy something really good like Combat Celebrant or Dockside Extortionist.
There was a few from kaldheim I expected to see.
What about Helm of the Host.... equip Bruniclad and make another copy of him at the beginning of combat
The Jason Alt I know would have added Opposition and Squirrel Nest into it.
Squirrel Nest is green you say? Color is but a hindrance.
No Kiki-Jiki? Or splinter twin? How odd
Thus doesn't look like a death by 7000 dwarves deck to me
How dare you Joey, how DARE YOU! You know what you did. Magic was my one escape from this hellish meme. Very sus my dude.
Arterial Alchemy, Hard Evidence
So no Springjack Pasture for synergy with Trading Post and potential lifegain/ramp?
Have to disagree about Hate Mirage. That card has done amazing work for me.
11:38 ....
help me mimeoplasm please :(
I always get mana screwed with bootyclap. 😑
i think i have to disagree about Hate mirage because even without brudiclad if your opponents have good E.T.B creatures on board (like Solemn simulacrum) you can still cast it to get 2 good e.t.b triggers
Jeez Joey, can you chill with the cool decks? I don't have this kind of money!
#1 most missed card for Brudiclad -> Smokestack!
Any commander that makes a token every turn can use Smokestack to win attrition battles, since you will net neutral and everyone else will be down permanents
Don't ever use that opening pun again. I'm serious.
