@@Dreamsofwings Your pronunciation of Llanbedr was spot on. Dinas Mawddwy is "dee-nas mow-th-wee" (with "ow" to rhyme with the expression of pain). Or if you want a more crude guide, "dee-nas mouth-wee". But "mouth" as in the verb, "to mouth", rather than the noun "a mouth". Dolgellau - mostly right, but the "au" is pronounced "eye". But a point of history: Edward didn't build castles for defensive positions. He built them to subjugate and dominate the local population. A contemporary comparison, think of Vladimir Putin complaining because the Ukrainian people are shooting at his Russian soldiers while they attempt to capture large parts of Ukraine.
