I believe it got updated. Im running on the Native 4K option and i barely get half the dips that was mentioned here. It runs a smooth 30fps locked 95% of the time and it looks stunning compared to my version on the ps4 pro
It's maybe possible in the US. But anywhere else in the world it's literally impossible to build a pc that has the same performance for the same price (euro zone gets the short end of the stick when it comes to prices). And that's not considering you also get a 4k blu-ray player inside. Which do generally cost quite a bit. As someone who plays on all platforms and owns a decent pc i respect what this console can do. And the claim that you can build something similar for the same price is just untrue for most places.
My PC is about £650, this console retails for £450. I've got a GTX 1060 3GB, and I can't hit 1080p 60fps in this game maxed out. 4K 30fps is impossible. The price is great in reality, it's just more than we're used to for consoles.
enzo molinari what is wrong with multiplats? The vast majority of my play time is devoted to multiplat games so I might as well have the console that has the best price to performance.
Love this game, looks amazing on the Scorpio, although its funny how much the more the colour on the PS4 pro really makes a difference, it just seemed to pop alot more and give it more depth. Hopefully they will sort that out before release.

You just forgot an important thing in ur report: The first areas are one of the most optimized parts of the game. What happen when you jump on the large open maps? I clearly remember that even on PC there was some problems right there. I'm a bit curious about that.
You are absolutely right, the first part is excellent, but the open areas like siberia are crap in this game. I have a 2080 super with a i7 7700k and there are some delay in some areas, its so frustrating

"Low resolution"? "Lower resolution" =/= "low resolution". Yes, the PS4 is using "lower" resolution textures compared to the PC, but they are far from "low resolution".
i remember that was a thing in the 360/ps3 era of games, ps3 would always have dark but orange tint versions of their games while 360 always had this dull cold outside type weather but clear resolution (look up gta 4 xbox 360 vs ps3 very old video but still you will understand what im saying) nowadays with ps5 and xbox series x its so close theres no reason to compare them anymore. i think the last console war was at the ps4/xbox one since it had major differences but now playing on my ps5 is almost no different than playing on my gaming pc... well besides i can run 4k and 60fps on my pc at the same time while on ps5 i have to choose between and mod support on pc but thats about it. i should probably get on to looking up DSX for the controller.
I'm Still happy with the pro version even if the x1x version is better. I'm just hoping that with the x1x out that more effort are put into the pro versions by devs even though it will have less res.
Finally came to my senses and signed up for the $5 a month patreon support for DF. Watching these amazing videos in full fidelity is priceless, frankly. DF is the GOAT
I still haven't played 'RotT' yet. been waiting for the 1X to drop to play it. among other titles like Doom, Witcher3 which will be enhanced. Went from 360 to '1S' last year. little late in the game but I'm going to have a field day catching up on old titles. Can I get an Amen!
if you are a casual , dont buy the premium version of a console wtf , i wouldnt recommend getting a 1080 ( ti) either if you say you are a casual just idk , get a Gamecube , far cheaper and has games ( i still play on mine alot btw)
Yes, casual but also an avid movie watcher, the included 4k blu-ray player and Dolby Atmos makes it a complete entertainment system for my needs. I was originally going to just purchase an Xbox one S for movies and gaming but I wanted something that will actually be supported longer and make my 4K Tv always useful.
Would like to see more of a comparison between Native 4k and the other 4k mode to see what differences are really there. Native 4k looks pretty great, but I'm curious if there is really anything other than frame rate that makes the other mode interesting.
Xbox should have an incentive to make developers try their hardest to make their game 4K. Like maybe Xbox can have a lower percentage for the game released on the X if it uses its full potential.
What about PS4 Pro's three different modes comparison? I would love to see what the three differences are between High Framerate, Enriched Visuals, and 4K are, all on the PlayStation 4 Pro.
Overheating is what worries me about the X1X. I know it will sport a new cooling technology, but at the end of the day, a console is just a console and we will have to wait until launch too see if this machine can handle high temperatures properly.
I just clicked for the comments. No one really cares about this game anymore, its like 2 years old. The comments though are GOLDEN. When it is console vs PC the console fanboys are like "hurr durr the graphics of the game doesn't matter only the gameplay." Now that Xbox comes out with a powerful console, fanboys lose their minds even though they have nothing to play but 2 year old games. Meanwhile Sony and Nintendo are just releasing better games instead of a 36th remaster. I'd much rather play games like TLOU2, Spiderman, Days Gone in 1080p30FPS than not playing them at all. And I own a good PC(7700k, GTX 1080, 16GB RAM) with a 4K TV, and yes games like The Witcher 3 look extremely sharp and detailed in 4K, but when I am playing on my 55" TV sitting 3 meters away, then you can't really tell the difference if its FHD or UHD unless they are side by side.
go get your eyes checked then , the diference is visible at any distance ( i recently tried playing FF13-2 at 1440p , didnt look the same as 4k even though i was sitting in the same position
Wrong. It is all about the viewing distance and PPI. On a 55" it is hard to tell the difference if you are sitting more than 2 meters from the screen. Yes if you switch between resolutions then you can see a difference. Especially for us PC guys who know what to look for. But if you just sit down and play, the difference will be extremely hard to tell. Honestly both the PS4 PRO and X1X are just stupid, because they are going for a higher resolution which most people won't even notice (see viewing distance and PPI), they should have gone for 60 FPS on every single game without exception. Since framerate is much more noticable and important gameplay wise.
i have a 768p TV next to a 4k Monitor , the only thing where i see no diference when sitting in front of it is when watching anime otherwhise its clear which one is which no matter at what distance
You should see the difference only when close. Lets stick to The Witcher 3 again. Geralt's chainmail armor looked extremely detailed up close. Every piece or link of the chain was super sharp. The stitching on the leather armor too. But when when you are not sitting close you will not see those details. Unless you have a 95" screen. No matter the size or the resolution every resolution can look sharp at the right screen size and viewing distance. If you have a 720p 24" screen it will look terrible up close. But if you have a 4.5" phone 720p will look fantastic. And if you have a 4K 55" TV not a small 4K monitor and if you sit at TV distance, the resolution will be hard to tell.
Screen size is irelevant , my 28" 4k TV is smaller than the Full HD TV my mother has , yet its clearly better and lastly , i can even sit on the other side of my room and still see everything , get your eyes checked please
As a native 4K machine the X1X won't be what some people want, but will be exactly what those paying attention so far want, when you're dipping to 20 fps it's better to just go to a lower res, even 1800p, and upscale with the Checkerboard rendering, I do think X1X will deliver quite a few first party games that manage to hit 4K at a stable fps, simply because First Party titles are usually much better regarding optimization, and usually have better visuals as well, this is why a game like Forza 7 runs very well and looks so damn good. I guess if you're looking for a console it's the most likely to bring you to 4K or close to 4K though the X1X is it, PS4Pro being a bit behind, I'm guessing most third party titles will enable an extra effect or 2 and up texture resolution for X1X versions, and I'm guessing most triple A games that are extremely hard on resources will run at anywhere from 1440p upscaled, to a dynamic 4K option where it can hit 4K some times, but not during the most intense scenes. I think the only thing that will keep the X1X from being a success is it's timing, and the fact there really aren't many games you can't get on PC, damn near everyone already owns a PS4 or PS4Pro, every X1X game is supposed to run on the original X1, but that will just hold back the X1X, it seems like a bad move, why not just go all out and beat Sony to the punch with a true next gen console, by the time this has been out for 6 months there will already be rumors of the PS5 floating around. Technically the X1X is a very impressive console, it's definitely a powerful console that is capable of pushing some great games to their limit visually, I just think when you look at the timing, lack of exclusives, and the already huge base of PS4 and PS4Pro owners, not to mention Switch which is currently outselling both of them, it's just not a good position for MS to be in, they have a very powerful console that may not sell very well when all is said and done. Hopefully it sells well and MS can make back enough money this gen to make a next gen worth it, the last thing we need is a one console market like EA wants, the lack of competition will be horrible for the industry and all of us, and since the Switch is pretty much a portable, it makes sense people would own it, and a more powerful console for multiplatform games, but not two, so the X1X really needs to do more than upgrade 2 year old games to get this thing off the shelves in a fast, and continuous way, if not we might not see another console to compete with the PS5, and that would not be good, no matter how many fanboy's think it would.
Faysal Hashi I'm not trolling anyone I'm calling them out on their bullshit because people say stupid shit like the Xbox one x is more powerful because you can't build a pc with a blu ray disk drive....do you see where I'm getting at
Xbox One X is a beast for £450. Nobody can build a PC with 4K Bluray drive for £450 and get the same performance in games. It's IMPOSSIBLE And before you think I'm an Xbox fanboy you can check my channel, Titan X Pascal PC owner. I respect the X that is all.
Impressive. The thing that really makes it better is that it has high resolution texture assets. Wondering how Xbox one X will handle this with other games as well. I guess we will see how the developers take advantage of this.
Borrowed this from a friend a while back and never got a chance to finish it. Recently played through TR definitive edition and loved it. Looking forward to revisiting this and giving it a play through in high frame rate more on my scorpio.
Digital Foundry... The "Enriched" mode, does add more on screen, as plants and rocks, just pop right into view, when selecting this mode within the game. But... The picture looks very washed out, in comparison to the "Native 4K" mode. I don't understand how the "Enriched" mode is considered to be even close to native 4K. Aside... Is "Enriched" mode actually adding more into the environment, or is it simply that things are being removed from the environment, when selecting "Native 4K" mode? Please answer.
1080p 60fps or BUST! 30fps shouldn't be acceptable anymore. 4K offers very little benefit over 1080p. Until games can consistently maintain 60fps@4K on consoles, then the priority should be a rock solid, buttery smooth 60fps 1080p. It's not time to push 4K yet.
Ultimo D "4k offers little benefit over 1080p" Gotta stop you right there, yes I fully agree they should be focusing on 60fps before bumping up graphics but to say 4k offers little benefit is just horribly wrong, 4k looks FAR better than 1080p, even 1440p looks far better, I have a 1440p and 1080p monitor and the difference is night and day, higher resolution makes a pretty big difference.
60fps should of been a standard when the PS4 and Xbox One was released, 4k as good as it is isn't something most gamers care about, that will change over time but really, consoles should get the basics out of the way, 60fps, as for native 4k 60fps, thats asking a lot from the Xbox one and I suspect most games will be 30fps. Mind you, as a PC gamer, if the Xbox One X does well with native 4k, PC gamers will benefit a lot from that because both PC and Xbox One X will get native 4k textures that the PS4 Pro can't really do with upscaling, it will also mean that games at 4k will be better optimised which again is good news for PC gamers.
And once again people don't know what the word "Demo" means and use every chance to shit on a console that they seemingly "don't care about". Can't you just enjoy new tech for once? It will also benefit you in the future.
The game goes live in a month. They've been working on this for a while now, they wouldn't show a demo this late in the game if it didn't represent the product. anyone who keeps suggesting these demo's will be fixed before launch are either extremely new to gaming or just really naïve.
TheFreeToaster Tells me that you didn't really pay attention to the video. t's the same demo, as it was at Gamescom. They just had an opportunity to capture more of it at an event. Even the Gamescom Demo was probably months old at that point, because you never Demo the newest build that may be a day/week old build. I'll agree with you that it's doing a good job of representing the final product already, but time and time again has shown that games can and will change. It's also Nixxes who we are talking about, who in the past, have always done a great job on ports and improvements.
I can't convince you, but you'll see. These games were already finished, being ported to the same architecture. that's a straightforward port. It's pretty much messing with settings until things work like you want them to so if we're seeing performance dips the only real way to fix them is to lower settings.
You don't need to convince me, because it's right there in the video and in the several articles that have been put out with the official word from Nixxes. I know the difference between a game having a "Beta" weeks (or even days before launch) and a Demo for a patch that was created several months ago. To say that lowering settings is "the only real way", is also a pretty wild/crazy theory, but it's also factually wrong. Maybe you should watch some videos or read articles about what and how optimization really is and works, besides lowering settings. The game being finished has also nothing to do with a straightforward port. They specifically created new textures for the Xbox One X version (and for the PC version) and the game is still in the process of being optimized for the Xbox One X and it's API.
for me this generation of consoles are a joke. the ps4 pro and xbox one x should have been the base line standard. when a $400 PC that isn't even fully upgraded can out perform the base console at launch and it takes a midgen upgrade to justify buying a console then Microsoft and sony need to rethink there console strategy.
Hi Digital Foundry, I could closely compare this game on both PS4 pro and OneX systems. I found out quite disappointing things on OneX... It's worth mentionning that I disabled HDR as I'm not a fan on this game (visuals look softer, a bit washed out on my TV...). As well, I like to play at 60fps, but the ps4 pro 1080/60 version had much aliasing on edges, so I was expecting the oneX version to outperform it, and it does on that point, for a cleaner result. However, the oneX 60fps version doesn't look as good overall: I notice a clear downgrade in lights and shadows VS Ps4 pro (missing ambiant occlusion?), resulting in a blurrier and less contrasted / detailed image. Moreover, this mode has a few missing effects VS Ps4pro (example, water surface details). The same goes for the 4k mode regarding disapointing light management on oneX, which moreover looks inferior VS ps4 pro due to a bit more aliasing. I've ended playing the game in enriched mode on OneX: shadows/contrasts are fine with more details, close to 4k resolution, clean edges, but no 60fps. Finally, I was really expecting oneX version to solve input lag issues for this game, but it doesn't! Both 4k and enriched modes seem as laggy as on ps4 pro... Note: when HDR is on, the ambiant occlusion issue on 60fps and 4k is no more. So overall, the oneX version doesn't seem that better than Pro. May you give us your thoughts about all modes with and without HDR, and post a new comparison video? Cheers :)
I'm wondering if the devs could tweak some of the more demanding levels by cutting certain effects back to maintain 60fps? Idk how much work would be involved by going over each level and area though. Or, if this would even be feasible with the imminent One X launch. For example, if this less demanding area is running at a value of 10 and only drops to 58fps. Then drop the Geothermal Valley down to 8.5 to keep drops to a minimum.
Elitist Prince Dizzy DX12 Sony helps with Draw calls that can be bottlenecked by DX11, not all game again use it but those that do have more reliable smoother performance in general
*_There's a community of people who would rather just stay on Xbox. And they've probably been in that community for years. No feeling towards leaving it for PC._*
@try hard fan okay , but none of them should get a One X then , if they just care about the community they should stick to the xbox one ( S ) as soon as youre willing to pay 400-500€ for an upgrade you should just get a PC imo , Xbox one X will just disappoint power whise
+Minene Uryuu922 I PC Masterrace I The Xbox One X is considered a "mid gen refresh" if that makes sense. Xbox One X isn't really an entirely new console. It's still within the same Xbox One community. I agree that a PC would be more worth it though.
Literally the only mode I care about if the high framerate one, even if it was 720p. Here's hoping much more games give us such an option in the future.
Why they compared One X version with PC version running using Titan XP? That's a 1200 card plus why compare it before final release? They can always improve frame rate before final release.
As a gentle reminder remember when xbox and ps2 went toe to toe. xbox was the clear winner in terms of power, but the ps2 curb stomped it into the ground. Why? The garmy garmes. Same situation here with xbone x and ps4 - xbone x right now has shit exclusives and a slight graphical leap is not going to sway smart buyers
Apples and oranges comparison. PS2 had exclusivity on GTA 3/Vice City, Final Fantasy series, etc. The kinds of games that sell consoles today almost all are multiplatform. FIFA comes out every year, yet FIFA 17 (even just on PS) outsold Nier Automata/Nioh/Horizon Zero Dawn combined. If games determined console wars, 360 doesn't outsell PS3 for 12 consecutive months, three or four years in a row, despite PS having triple the amount of exclusives. Majority of people who buy (all) consoles buy less than a handful of games and franchises. Which is why the console wars have always been stupid. Most people currently on PS4 and Xbox One are playing COD, GTA, Minecraft and a sports game or two (Check NPD any month, and the yearly totals. It backs this up.). Particularly Sony, most of their exclusives are niche. Most people on the platform don't even know those games exist.
not just tht it was mostly bc it was the CHEAPEST DVD player around. The casuals bought it which caused a rapidly growing playerbase, so all the 3rd party devs started making games on PS2 which in turned made a decent chunk of casuals into gamers and the actual gamers to start buying the system. ALL BECAUSE OF THE DVD PLAYER (still own my PS2 though lol)
Minene Uryuu922 I PC Masterrace I Rise of the Tomb Raider @4k on PC with a 1070 averages about 35fps granted you are using an i7 7700, now that includes dips under mid 20s sometimes. So XBOX One X is definitely somewhere between 1070 and 1080 performance wise. Considering the CPU it has on board, that is an astonishing feat.
I believe it got updated.
Im running on the Native 4K option and i barely get half the dips that was mentioned here. It runs a smooth 30fps locked 95% of the time and it looks stunning compared to my version on the ps4 pro
As a pc gamer I respect the xbox one X, very good perf for the price
It really is. It's a shame the machine still has the old Jaguar cores holding it back though.
DigitalNow y is lack of exclusives a bad thing. if pc and Xbox players can eventually get cross play because of this won't that be better ?
If only Xbox fanboys didn't think it was impossible to build a PC with better performance for around the same price.
It's maybe possible in the US. But anywhere else in the world it's literally impossible to build a pc that has the same performance for the same price (euro zone gets the short end of the stick when it comes to prices).

And yet, DF never actually analyzed the final X1X version of the game. Just this demo.
Yeah wtf I wish they did
Sold!
The high quality textures are probably the most impressive feature. I can't believe it works in all three modes!
Don’t know why I’m watching this 5 years later but if I ever get it on series x I’ll know what to expect
Very impressive for only $500. Not regretting my preorder at all.
Michael Vinson just wait
Admyr 6 wait for what?! speak for yourself!
Yeah you are, who you fooling. You bought a five hundred dollar multiplats player that no one gives a shot about. Have fun buddy!😅😅😅😂😂😂😂🤣😋😋🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
enzo molinari No one gives a shit about it but its preorders sold out?? Right lol
enzo molinari what is wrong with multiplats? The vast majority of my play time is devoted to multiplat games so I might as well have the console that has the best price to performance.

Love this game, looks amazing on the Scorpio, although its funny how much the more the colour on the PS4 pro really makes a difference, it just seemed to pop alot more and give it more depth. Hopefully they will sort that out before release.
Why did I venture into the comments section???
mcrazza because you love to live dangerously?
Heres some body armour, stay safe man, the console fanboys are causing chaos for us normal gamers.
i dont know either but its fun *grabs some more chips*

Kirk-Da Rooster Gordon And any multiplat period. When compared with pro.
I like the color scheme on the One X. It looks more realistic than the other two versions.
Yeah, you're right....black looks so much more realistic than white..and black.

Are sharper textures really worth the extra $100 and lack of any games. Df themselves say that CB is no different from 4k at a distance.

Your late on the news then, it will be enhanced.....the PS4 pro version will be ready soon apparently
Pixel ... How wrong you were.
I don't think this is the last we've seen of DF Rise of the Tomb Raider comparisons. Looking forward to the Switch comparison. :P
Jesus Christ, this game just won't go away.
Constantine so? The game is amazing and a great comparison for graphics
Constantine I know it's getting annoying.
+mrinde7 The game is amazing? Lol no its mediocre compared to the first. It's pretty but thats about it.
does anyone even care about tomb raider anymore?
I wish they would show something about the Witcher 3. Tomb raider is fucking boring
Was getting buyers remorse for my pre-order, so thank you Digital Foundry for reassuring my purchase.
This video sold you on the X? It did the absolute opposite for me. It reassured I made the right decision in canceling my pre-order. Zero regrets.
Yes, it did, I am a casual gamer who just got a 4K HDR TV this will pair nicely in my entertainment stand.
Luis Peralta Dumbass
if you are a casual , dont buy the premium version of a console wtf , i wouldnt recommend getting a 1080 ( ti) either if you say you are a casual

That 12 gigs of ram is coming in Hella handy.
I would've loved an option for the high framerate mode letting you choose 1080p-900p-720p resolutions giving you more options for smooth gameplay
Can't wait for the Xbox one X!!
Out of curiousity, why?
Matthias Forelli cuz it is the best console experience
SophisticatedAss My PC beats the X lol.
Matthias Forelli impossible. Computers are outdated. They've been out for decades now, you have to upgrade to a console kiddo.
Steven Shelp So my base PS4 will out perform my i5/1060 6GB PC?
Even without HDR on, the lighting in the Xbox One X version looks more natural to me.
I wonder if Microsoft will push Game Dev's to make all games 4K kinda like how Sony Pushed game dev's to do 1080p on base PS4.
GameMasterpg no one pushes anyone
They can't push or force anything. that's up to the developers to decide.
GameMasterpg Not all of them, there are many titles that use the checkerboarding technology the PS4 Pro used.
Xbox should have an incentive to make developers try their hardest to make their game 4K. Like maybe Xbox can have a lower percentage for the game released on the X if it uses its full potential.
Yes Sony did push third party game dev's to do 1080p on base PS4. As well as it's own first party games.
Playing this on ps5 for the first time in 4K it’s impressive
Do ppl really care if it drops by one or two frame ? It takes way too much time in their videos...
What about PS4 Pro's three different modes comparison? I would love to see what the three differences are between High Framerate, Enriched Visuals, and 4K are, all on the PlayStation 4 Pro.
I like all the Xbox X coverage! 👏, ready for full release so you can really start the comparisons and hitting all the na sayers in the mouth!
Yeah...it's time people realise the X1X isn't what it was promised to be.
kraenk12 or maybe it is
Overheating is what worries me about the X1X. I know it will sport a new cooling technology, but at the end of the day, a console is just a console and we will have to wait until launch too see if this machine can handle high temperatures properly.
For once this analysis was a bit confusing, since this early build seems not enough reliable to draw conclusions.
tshaolin971 yup it's only a demo
wasnt this released last year? i remember this being released for everything
I just clicked for the comments. No one really cares about this game anymore, its like 2 years old. The comments though are GOLDEN.

Screen size is irelevant , my 28" 4k TV is smaller than the Full HD TV my mother has , yet its clearly better
and lastly , i can even sit on the other side of my room and still see everything , get your eyes checked please
Xbox 💚
Tio Sakamoto is trash.
hehehehe
samurai jack
💚💚💚💚
Disappointing as ever.
The XBoneX looks really desaturated in this footage by comparison. Was there a capture issue or a mistake in rendering?
Comment section gonna be a shitstorm
It always is. Painful to read but fun
If you want a civilized mature comment section, go to eurogamer. That's your best course of action.
Papa Chanka a troll pointing an a accusing finger to other trolls, what a joke!
Faysal Hashi I'm not trolling anyone I'm calling them out on their bullshit because people say stupid shit like the Xbox one x is more powerful because you can't build a pc with a blu ray disk drive....do you see where I'm getting at
Brother Ares in all fairness, hdr support is currently lackluster on pc compared to consoles.
Are you guys going to do a CPU comparison for Total War Warhammer 2? Like AMD Ryzen vs Intel? Core i3 vs i5? etc.
Xbox One X is a beast for £450. Nobody can build a PC with 4K Bluray drive for £450 and get the same performance in games. It's IMPOSSIBLE
And before you think I'm an Xbox fanboy you can check my channel, Titan X Pascal PC owner.
I respect the X that is all.
You actual can, especially if the target is 4k 30fps
aha, already been proven to be possible. Well minus the blu ray drive, who the fuck needs a disk drive of any sort?
It was never proven. The closest was 650$ and that was without UHD bluray.
Stona Raptor
And the 4k 60fps HDR capture card?...
Simon Toogood Right now! In future when nvidia comes out with Volta set of GPUs, they will fry the Xbox one x!
Impressive. The thing that really makes it better is that it has high resolution texture assets. Wondering how Xbox one X will handle this with other games as well. I guess we will see how the developers take advantage of this.
So to sum it up the 1X version is not done but is already outperforming the Pro version. Sounds about right to me. 😎
Audreen Williams I know lol it's only a DEMO lol
The Pro version doesn't drop to 21 fps.
They should make videos of the GTX 1060 and the RX 580 vs consoles (Pro and Xbox One X). You would be interesting to see
The color gamut is way closer to real life than the magenta heavy PS4Pro skin tones. Nice job.
Chris Barr lol 21fps on X
This is one of the most dumbest comment that had nothing to do with what I said.
It looks unrealistic and washed out on X1X.
Borrowed this from a friend a while back and never got a chance to finish it. Recently played through TR definitive edition and loved it. Looking forward to revisiting this and giving it a play through in high frame rate more on my scorpio.
Nixxes is great.
Fuddy Duddy zzz zzz
Can't believe how much John's accent has changed in a few years
I must build a high end PC!! These mid gens are so disappointing. 4k my butt 😤
LOL! Xbox One X is NOT a next-gen console! Nor have Ryzen cores inside!
Ultimo D
Sucks for you to not be able to afford new tech.
Ultimo D "4k offers little benefit over 1080p"
Gotta stop you right there, yes I fully agree they should be focusing on 60fps before bumping up graphics but to say 4k offers little benefit is just horribly wrong, 4k looks FAR better than 1080p, even 1440p looks far better, I have a 1440p and 1080p monitor and the difference is night and day, higher resolution makes a pretty big difference.
The average human being isnt bothered by 30fps. In fact the average person doesnt even know what that means so why tf would that be their priority.
Are these differences apparent to the naked eye?
Phil Spencer, the biggest salesman for the PS4
Blair PS4 is trash people are selling for Xbox one X I work at GameStop
Cum Ho Wong I don't believe you with all these games coming out on PS4 soon.
Can you please keep a record of how many times you have been testing this game now ^^ and blend it in at the beginning of every video!
If you cant see the difference between 4k native and 4k checkerboard then you need a doctor
Ty for the Demo analysis DF, cool stuff. I have one question. Have guys determined the native resolution of the enriched 4k mode? Ty again.
And once again people don't know what the word "Demo" means and use every chance to shit on a console that they seemingly "don't care about".
Can't you just enjoy new tech for once? It will also benefit you in the future.
Trafalgar “It’s a Monster “
ROTTR has been ported and optimized on so many platforms by now. I wonder if Switch is next up.
Uncharted 4 was a lack luster decent MOVIE . Rise of tomb raider is a great GAME.
Bron Von yup uncharted is a movie with quick time events lol no wonder kids like that game
Bron Von I played that game 1 time and never went back lol got bored of it
That movie is crap
U4s so 'crap' it's outsold every xbox current gen 'exclusive'
Is it 4k in high frame rate???
Or it is 1080p???
But Cerny said the Pro was a 8.2tf console..
it isnt
Did u mention what resolution the game is running at when in high framerate mode?
60 fps is life,xbox one x show.
Great video can’t wait for XB1X now
Let the saltiness begin!
Faysal Hashi The only people that do that are chide and jobless bums. Get both and enjoy the best of both worlds.
Hey, will you do a video of "HOB" ? the new from torchlight devs. Is not working very well and would be great to have a tech video from you guys.
I wonder why I don't talk about pixels anymore 🤔
west webb ahaha you can't stop now
west webb tell us why
cuz youre a fake?
TRIGGER again you're upset about another random internet person....so you and west webb are his alt accounts noted.
lmao not even close you can easily look at his subscriber count and realise its not the real west webb
can we get break from ROTB ?
native 4k 21fps cinmatic experience on ROTTR where have i seen this before ow yeah halo bores 2, where dat power at LMFAO
Are you planning on an updated analysis of the X version?
All good and all but I'm really not trying to play this game lol again....GTA needs a patch for both! Systems 1080p 60fps
UltraJamZHD | RGN Omg yes. I wish Rockstar would bring it.
UltraJamZHD | RGN with a low-end jaguar cpu it's hard
I would love if GTA 5 ran at 60fps on these newer console's. Sadly the CPUs in the console's are crap so that will never happen.
Mr Øňě Ş iknow iknow 🤔😅 sad times
Chase Whittemore have hope bro 😂nah it's never happening I wish though
As a long time Xbox owner and fan I knew right away when the X was announced that most games would run at
for me this generation of consoles are a joke. the ps4 pro and xbox one x should have been the base line standard. when a $400 PC that isn't even fully upgraded can out perform the base console at launch and it takes a midgen upgrade to justify buying a console then Microsoft and sony need to rethink there console strategy.
"4K, No compromises"
TLSPanthers that reach
TLSPanthers no compromises for the amount of money ur paying
Um Assassins Creed 1440p, Ark 1440p want me to go on?
They have been comprising to reach 4K (and not even native at that) for a lot of games. The hell are you fanboys talking about?
well all first party games are. they said devs can do what they want. they didnt lie :p
Hi Digital Foundry,
I could closely compare this game on both PS4 pro and OneX systems.
Cheers :)
This thing is a animal cant wait to play the world's most powerful console.
Lee marshall what animal? It runs at 21fps lol shit console
Mehrad 19 its a demo and for the most part it will be 30 can the gaystation 4 pro do it?
I'm wondering if the devs could tweak some of the more demanding levels by cutting certain effects back to maintain 60fps?
Idk how much work would be involved by going over each level and area though. Or, if this would even be feasible with the imminent One X launch.
For example, if this less demanding area is running at a value of 10 and only drops to 58fps. Then drop the Geothermal Valley down to 8.5 to keep drops to a minimum.
Can't wait to play on Xbox One X PROJECT SCORPIO EDITION on my 4K HDR OLED TV!
Dre 93 for your educational purposes... multiplats represent 90% of the games played, which now, will look and perform best on Xbox One X.
good luck seeing all that detail with the awesome 30 fps motion blur!
If it doesn't go under 50fps im happy!! :)
It will.
MadFinnTech it won’t
it's just a demo. And It will be ironed out and good to go.
it wont even go over 40 most of the time
How many times can Xbox offer the same game on different consoles? Awesome library.
Xbox One in a nutshell:
2013: Fake power of the cloud
2015: Fake lowend power of DX12
2017: Fake true 4k
what ?
i thought the cloud was in 2014 not 13
Elitist Prince Dizzy power of the cloud isn't fake, it's just no games use except Crackdown 3
Elitist Prince Dizzy DX12 Sony helps with Draw calls that can be bottlenecked by DX11, not all game again use it but those that do have more reliable smoother performance in general
I hope to see the trend of modes being available carry to other games if not all.
LMAO it's a 21fps console, it's a monster
☝️virgin
Comparisons with a I7 5820k(cpu from 2014) and a Titan XP.... X1X is doing very well in regards to a beast of a GPU and a very good CPU.
Native 4k on xbox x has worse fps than ps4 pro fake 4 mode
Please please please now that the Xbox one x is out now can you do a comparison on the final code?
Why do people buy Xbox when they have no exclusives since PC are getting like all their games. What's the point?
No Name ww Pc gaming lol yuck
*_There's a community of people who would rather just stay on Xbox. And they've probably been in that community for years. No feeling towards leaving it for PC._*
@try hard fan
okay , but none of them should get a One X then , if they just care about the community they should stick to the xbox one ( S ) as soon as youre willing to pay 400-500€ for an upgrade you should just get a PC imo , Xbox one X will just disappoint power whise
Pan Rysownik get a pc hater
Xbox One X is the future of gaming and Sony must cancel the PS4
PS4 has all ready won this gen lol x1x is looking to be a great console. But Sony will bring their next box out in two yrs
What happens when you put the xbox one x in 1080p mode in the xbox settings and try this again?
1080p nathan drake in game looks better on a standard ps4 then one x enhanced in cutscene lara croft 😂
scorpio true 4k Tomb Raider is also on PS4 and Its a shit game, Uncharted 4 is the best action adventure game and only available on PS4 haha
WhoDarestheMAN gamer so ur commenting on a 2 year old video that’s just goes to show how biased to Xbox u are .
Awesome! No matter what platform you play the game on it is phenomenal!
21 FPS.... LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
It’s not slight lol.
The difference between PS4 Pro and Xbox One X is slight. The difference in power between OG Xbox and PS2 was huge.
not just tht it was mostly bc it was the CHEAPEST DVD player around.
It is a similar situation, but with one major plot twist - this time Xbox shares its exclusives with pc.
A PC-like experience
NOT A PC EXPERIENCE !
But for the price its awesome
framerate>>>>>>>>>>>>resolution
So almost a 1070~1080 level performance. Very very impressive from a $500 piece of hardware. Good job Microsoft!
RX480 level , aka "gets sometimes outperformed by a 1060 "
Minene Uryuu922 I PC Masterrace I Rise of the Tomb Raider @4k on PC with a 1070 averages about 35fps granted you are using an i7 7700, now that includes dips under mid 20s sometimes. So XBOX One X is definitely somewhere between 1070 and 1080 performance wise. Considering the CPU it has on board, that is an astonishing feat.
Great value for a console. I like what I'm seeing
Another week, another video on Rise of the Tomb Raider by DF. See you next week ;)
It's a monster... in the face
An interesting thing can look like a FH3 patch. The 60 fps mode could be brilliant.
