Thank you for featuring the puzzle, and thank you also to Qodec and Nell Gwyn for testing. The Bow tie is green because I guessed (wrongly) that you might own a green bow tie. I’ll guess better next time 😅 Once again enthusiastic congratulations on 600K… and thank you so much for your kind words. It really is a tremendous honor to celebrate (and cerebrate !) with you
“It could be we’re not a million miles away” - nope, only 600,000 miles 😂 But seriously, you did great, my dear friend. It was delightful from start to finish
Leave it to Simon to find the hardest way possible to factorize 600,000. 10 * 10 * 10 * 10 * 10 * 6 and then factor each of those. At any rate, congrats again on this amazing victory.
Of course this can be done much simpler. First convert the decimal number to binary, then count all the trailing zeros as the exponent for the prime factor 2. Convert the residue number to base 3 and then count the trailing zeros again as exponent for the prime factor 3, etc.
Absolutely hilarious. Simon, we love you, but that was absurd ❤ And no, no notebook needed, because you can simply read the prime factors of 600,000: 2*3*(2*5)^5. But far less amusing if he notices that 😉
*In the voice of Attenborough* And here we see a two and a three canoodling, rather agressively, as is their nature. Later, the three will retract to the corner, while the two will scurry away, hiding from the eight. - Congratulations CTC!
Congrats on 600k I don't normally comment a lot but I've been watching the channel for over a year, and I gotta say, my love for sudoku has never been bigger you guys will hit a million subs one day
Started following you just before covid after finding videos on how to find x-wings. Couldn't imagine what a journey it would become. Glad to have been able to follow it ❤
I remember those…that and Simon explaining tricks of killer sudoku. I didn’t understand it back then, now thanks in huge part to these two I can solve so many other puzzles.
55:38 Congratulations on your 600k subs! For me there were lots of hidden triples and quads. Love being part of the community and attempting the daily puzzles, and the very very rare besting of Simon’s time.
It's only appropriate that the celebration puzzle would be solved using the hardest route whenever it was possible :) Much love and congratulations for achieving 600k milestone and I'm pretty sure 1 Million is just around the corner :)
Congratulations on 600k!🎉 And Maverick with a belated congratulations 😂 Also, The Ramones did a song called Rockaway Beach. I think that’s where the 2 and 3 do their aggressive canoodling.
Fantastic puzzle! Characteristically quirky and detailed right to the end. Needed Simon's help to get going but then I was away. Loved how the thermometer bulb resolved.
Congratulations Simon, on reaching this milestone! 🎉🎊🎆 You deserve this success and much more. As one of your 600,000 favorite people, may I return the favor and say that you are one of mine and I love spending some of each day watching your videos!
That was hard, to the extent that I had to watch some of the video, and it took two days... I had an idea for the bowtie but it never crossed my mind to seek for the prime factors. I was thinking of 11th root of 600k which would make the average digit approximately 3,352 which wasn't far off because in the finished puzzle I get 4 as the average, and there was only one high digit while the rest were middling or low. Congrats again!
Congratulations on 600k! Between crosswords, sudoku, many different kids of pencil, logic and word puzzles, and even puzzle video games... it has been amazing to see this channel grow into a celebration of puzzling at its purest. This channel and community is a gem in the sea of TH-cam, and I hope you'll keep growing and spreading the love of simple, good-natured puzzles.
I finished in 89 minutes. I thought the bowtie was going to be an easy start, but I couldn't spot anything as I went way over using the maximum digits. It wasn't until I had a strange thought to use the factors of 600,000, that it started to show itself, surprising me. From there, it was a lot of fun cracking the puzzle. Great Puzzle! Congratulations on the 600,000 subscribers! What an incredible achievement!
🍾 Congratulations on 600,000 subscribers 🍾 It feels like a very long time ago that I joined that select group in May 2020. And this puzzle was a fitting tribute to the community that you have built in that time. It was tough, it took me 2 hours (not helped by forgetting the negative XV constraint for a long time), but I'm very glad to have persevered and completed the puzzle without any assistance from the video.
I remember being here when you guys were under 400k! Congrats on yet another super deserved milestone and thanks for becoming such a huge part of my and so many people’s lives!
Congratulations on 600K subs! I've been following this channel for at least 4 years, and I am so fortunate to see each milestone achieved in this channel from 300K, 400K, 500K and now 600K!
I am very rarely a 'shout at the screen' person, but when he was asking about the nature of those purple digits, I was very satisfied in shouting about where three might go in box 4. (Its always sudoku).
Great puzzle and congratulations on the 600K! Been watching since the beginning of the pandemic ❤. I think many people started watching and doing Sudoku at the time... Crazy to think that something good came out of it, but I'm honestly glad it did. ... Hmm I can see how this is might be seen as a controversial comment, so I'm gonna add "one" more thing: I'm pretty sure you would have reached it (and will surpass even 1M Subs (2, 3??^^)) anyway, without that terrible thing to have happened to the world and I'm deeply sorry for everyone who was/is affected by it directly or indirectly. That being said, your channel helped many people (including me) getting through those hard times. I truly appreciate the hard work you guys put into this channel! ❤ Your charisma, wit, calmness, incredible logical skills, and beginner-friendly explanations even after years, all while showing so much humility and respect to the creators and your viewers is what truly sets you apart. Keep up the good work. Love you guys
I'm amazed he did all that math in his head. I spent 40 minutes in a very complicated and colourful Excel-sheet reaching the conclusions he found in 10 minutes just looking at the puzzle and his ceiling :)
Magnifecent accomplishment to get to 600,000!! 🎉🎉 Thank you to all the fabulous setters that have helped this channel and community grow to where it is!!
Simon! I checked your solution against all of the rules and it works out. No dominoes adding to 5 or 10, green bow tie multiplies to 600,000, all cages are correct, so you are clear!
Congratulations! I celebrated with you by solving this one on my own, which I could not have done without your many videos explaining the secret(s) of sudoku! Thanks!
I'm not sure why I was recommended this channel all those months ago, but it's been a fun little treat as background noise while I write, congrats on the subscribers ❤
One thing that has remained constant with Simon throughout 600,000 subscribers is that he always manages to do things in the most difficult way possible 😁. The prime factors of 600000 are 6 x 10^5 = 2 x 3 x 2^5 x 5^5 , or combining to give 2^6 x 3 x 5^5 . Keep up the marvelous consistency 😝, and congratulations on 600,000 subs 🎉!
Congrats on the 600k! So happy for you guys ❤ I'm from the Covid wave of subscrivers (jee it's been 4 years 😮) and your videos are the one piece of routine that didn't change for me in those years. I wish you two never ciese to amaze at the face of beautiful logic. Salut!
Got stuck for about an hour so I just threw some digits into the cages to see what would break. It turned out to be correct! So I "solved" the puzzle, but have no clue as to the actual solution path!
just amazing that simon starts with dividing by 5 rather than noting that 600,000 is 6 times 100,000, and that 100,000 is 10 to the power 5, and 10 is 5 times 2. What would be the fun in doing things the easy way.
I feel special after googling the "factorization of 60000" and finding out besides the prime factors, that all the 60 divisors of it sum to 196812, which is my year of birth followed by my month of birth. What a coincidence. Then realizing it wasn't 60000, it was 600000. Anyway, this isn't about me, though it is about all of us subscribers. It must feel unreal for both of you, Simon and Mark. I guess that number of subscribers feels unreal, like a product of your imagination, while it is - as we alll know now - a product of 2,2,2,2,2,2,3,5,5,5,5, and 5.
kind of a missed opportunity in the rule set though, it should have been: "Cells separated by a V sum to 5. Cells separated by an X sum to 10. All the Xs and Vs are given."
At 29:20 on, the easiest way to figure out what's in the purple cage is to realize that it excludes either 27 or 36. But it can't exclude 36, because there has to be at least one 3 (from either 3 or 6) in the green bowtie portion of the purple cage. So the pair outside of the bowtie is 69, and the remaining digits in the cage are 13548, with the 5 in box 5.
An easier way to get the prime factors: there are 5 zeroes, that gives you 5 fives and 5 twos. 6 left, so one more two and one more three. So: 2⁶×3¹×5⁵.
Excellent puzzle and a fitting tribute to the channel. It has a really intricate construction, and I found it very interesting. Your naughty digit spotting needs some work. When you placed the 3 on the thermo bulb, you had 789 on the tip next to it, but there were 8s pencil-marked in R6 in box 5, and 7 can't go next to 3, so it had to be 9 on the tip. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it by the time you reach 700,000.
Thank you for featuring the puzzle, and thank you also to Qodec and Nell Gwyn for testing. The Bow tie is green because I guessed (wrongly) that you might own a green bow tie. I’ll guess better next time 😅

“It could be we’re not a million miles away” - nope, only 600,000 miles 😂
But seriously, you did great, my dear friend. It was delightful from start to finish
55:32 don’t feel bad about the “3 in box 4” escaping your notice. It was specifically designed to do exactly that 😂
Brillant puzzle, thanks to both and cheers for the new milestone!
Leave it to Simon to find the hardest way possible to factorize 600,000. 10 * 10 * 10 * 10 * 10 * 6 and then factor each of those. At any rate, congrats again on this amazing victory.

This was rather amusing.
Followed by the hardest way to note it down for later
@@averygaron994 Absolutely bonkers that he refuses to use a notepad of some kind. Wastes so much time.
Absolutely hilarious. Simon, we love you, but that was absurd ❤
And no, no notebook needed, because you can simply read the prime factors of 600,000: 2*3*(2*5)^5.

Simon looking dapper for a special occasion. Congratulations to both Simon and Mark. Nice guys do deserve to succeed.
I'm proud to be 0.00016666666666667% of what got you to 600k.
Me too!
Aren't we all!

Congratulations to Mark and Simon for this milestone! This channel, without a doubt is my favourite channel on TH-cam!
It's only appropriate that the celebration puzzle would be solved using the hardest route whenever it was possible :) Much love and congratulations for achieving 600k milestone and I'm pretty sure 1 Million is just around the corner :)
This is a bit of a beast of a puzzle with very different interactions of rules than is usual. Perfect for the occasion.
I've watching this channel for almosy 2 years an very happy to see the growth
Congrats on 600k! Much love from all of us who enjoy your videos in a daily basis.
Wonderful news, the 600k deserves many congratulations CtC and community.
Congratulations on 600k!🎉
And Maverick with a belated congratulations 😂
Also, The Ramones did a song called Rockaway Beach. I think that’s where the 2 and 3 do their aggressive canoodling.
I recognise the name of Far Rockaway. It's where the great Richard Feynman grew up and attended high school.
Congrats on 600k! You both deserve this success and much more. Thank you for everything you do for us. You're both a bright light in the world. 💖🥰

Congrats again!
Took me 30min … to realize Simon is wearing a bow tie! Congratulation for 600k! 🎉

I remember being here when you guys were under 400k! Congrats on yet another super deserved milestone and thanks for becoming such a huge part of my and so many people’s lives!
Here from when we were about 20 000 and then it felt like such an amazing thing!
Congrats and 600 000 thanks, Mark and Simon!
Congratulations on 600k! Well deserved to all involved!! Thoroughly enjoy the videos and positivity they show! Onto the next milestone! 🎉

Many congratulations on your well-deserved milestone. May it be just one of many more such round numbers to be met along the way.
The 3-7 pairs really hid well from him a lot of the time, didn't they XD
Watched the whole video. Congrats on 600k!
Huge well done on reaching 600,000! Thank you for getting me started in my cryptic solving journey. Truly deserve this amazing milestone, 1M next! 🎉
Had a crack at this puzzle, and made some initial deductions, but got no further.
Congrats on 600k, chaps!
Congratulations, I feel honored to be part of this!
You are quite welcome Simon. You have been around long enough for quite the milestones in my life and especially when the pandemic was rampant
Well deserved. You make puzzle-solving enjoyable.
CONGRATULATIONS !!! Now for the million.
Gotta keep those canoodling twos and threes separate lol! Congrats on 600,000!!!
I am very rarely a 'shout at the screen' person, but when he was asking about the nature of those purple digits, I was very satisfied in shouting about where three might go in box 4. (Its always sudoku).
Congratulations, it's a pretty sneaky step.
Well done Simon and Mark! What a treasure you are to the world! Continue to use the gifts and talents God has given you for His honor and glory.

All of this. Not controversial and beautifully said
Technically an XV sudoku with a negative constraint lol
I'm amazed he did all that math in his head. I spent 40 minutes in a very complicated and colourful Excel-sheet reaching the conclusions he found in 10 minutes just looking at the puzzle and his ceiling :)
Congratulations from Norway and thanks for improving our mental health!
Fellow Norwegian here saying congratulations ❤️
Magnifecent accomplishment to get to 600,000!! 🎉🎉

Congratulations! I celebrated with you by solving this one on my own, which I could not have done without your many videos explaining the secret(s) of sudoku! Thanks!
Congrats on reaching 600k. That's a monumental milestone.
Haven't even checked the puzzle out yet. Congratulations from a long time subscriber.
Congrats on the 600k. You will be at 1,000,000 this time next year
Congratz for the 600000 subs. Nice puzzle to celebrate with.
There will be a few more as well! Many congratulations
Finished in 49:36. Lovely logic in the ruleset to disambiguate the fatal pairs.
Fun puzzle!
Another awesome milestone reached! Thanks for the great content.
Well done. I was around your 25,000th subscriber. I've had a ball watching your daily evolution into compelling youtubers.
Lots of love,
Peter
I'm not sure why I was recommended this channel all those months ago, but it's been a fun little treat as background noise while I write, congrats on the subscribers ❤
WOOOOOO! Congrats guys!
Congratulations on the 600K. Haven't seen the video yet, but the puzzle was fun.
Congratulations on the 600 thousand subscribers!
Cheers from Brazil!
Congratulations on the 600k
Congratulations on 600K. Amazing milestone.
congratulations!!! you both are the best and my every evening program since shortly before 400'000

Maybe the sudoku app should have a small bit of space on the side for notes and math, so you don't need to write it in the grid?
That would be amazing, i always have to solve puzzles with a pen and paper haha
Congratulations! Amazing content and amazing subscribers!
Congrats on 600k🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉
Congrats on the 600k! So happy for you guys ❤

Congrats guys🎉 im so happy for you all!
1:04:00 Love a good Hong Kong Phooey reference.
Congrats on 600k 🎉
Congratulations! :)
Congratulations on the 600k subscribers!!
Congratulations! Well deserved! :)
That was fun and not easy at all IMO. Congrats on 600k!
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well Deserved!
Congrats on 600k!!
congratulations
Congratulations guys for the massive achievement.
just amazing that simon starts with dividing by 5 rather than noting that 600,000 is 6 times 100,000, and that 100,000 is 10 to the power 5, and 10 is 5 times 2. What would be the fun in doing things the easy way.

The sum of the factors of 600,000 maps onto the exact day that I turned 12 years old :D 1984248
Congratulations! The best sudoku channel❤🎉
25:49 for me. Congrats again on 600k, you guys deserve it so much!!
Congrats on 600k!
Finished this fun one and cruised in with a total time of 43:57.
kind of a missed opportunity in the rule set though, it should have been:
"Cells separated by a V sum to 5. Cells separated by an X sum to 10. All the Xs and Vs are given."
Oh wow! Congrats on 600k!
The 3 could be in box 5 though, at that point
Did you reference Hong Kong Phooey?
Caught that too. Simon is the number one super guy.
Perhaps my brain works differently to Simon, but I just went:
600,000
=6 and five 10s
=2*3 and five (2*5)s :)
You had 279 next to 3, eliminated 2, but not 7. You also had 13 sandwiched between 4 and 7 and decided you couldn't resolve them! 1 can't go next to the 4, and 3 can't go next to the 7.
Congrats, guys! 🎉🎉🎉
