    Thank you for your idea. I have been thinking for this hydraulic press with carjack for the past two days. You have supplied best idea. Otherwise I would have wasted some money in research. I was struggling for converting or bringing Jack's force into downward Ram force and movement. Thank you once again.

      This would be a great hobby press and should more than handle any small project, i would love to see its failure points my guess would be at the top all the force is being put on 6 bolts which should hold 2000lbs each more than what you'll need but the mild steel tubing has a weak section thickness at the top if you were to weld that you would never see a problem

    Very nice video, well put together, well edited. On your link to the dimensions etc. you have left off vital information to be able to build this at home for your viewers. Eg. the thickness of the steel used, you don't mention what size and thickness flat-bar and plate you used where and how, how you managed to put together the cross bar with support brackets the bottle jack sits on, how you made those support sliding brackets etc. It will take a very long time for someone that wants to build this at home, to figure out ALL the materials needed to build this at home - is this not the idea in the first place?

    I too thought about making a press, however, the cost of the metal alone far exceeds the cost of just buying one already made. Harbor Freight has several presses to
    choose from and all are cheaper than doing the work yourself.

      It's a DIY project. Use Scrap metal and the hydraulic piston from an old floor jack or bottle jack. I'm building one and so far it has cost me ZERO. Tube from old pool fencing and the press from a crap floor jack someone left behind. It's attitudes like yours that has brought this country to its knees. We don't make anything and dont want to cause we can just buy one from the Chinese. Let me guess you voted for Biden who's slogan should be "Build Back China Better, screw the U.S."

    • @tcarney57
      @tcarney57 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@SDsailor7 It could end up costing more than buying the cheap one for 90 pounds, especially if you sourced the materials at a retail store, but even then you could end up with a much higher-quality press than the manufactured cheap ones. Personally, I don't think the labor issue matters for many people. They want a press as a tool to make things. They like making things. Making the tool might give them as much pleasure as making some non-tool item using the press for some of the operations. For myself, there's also the satisfaction of making and having a tool exactly how I want it, not how a for-profit manufacturer wants it.

    That seems easy to do. Next question with the stability of the press. I'd like to build one that suits a 20 ton jack. Is the stability still going to be there w/a higher tonnage jack? Thanks.

    All that structural support, and you allow all of the force to be exerted upon two bolts?

    nice job. Is it an excavator bucket pin that you use for the upper 'pushing' part?

    Nicely done, sir...... Might cost more than it's worth than just buying one, but I would think it would be well worth it. Now let's see if I can get my nephew interested in making one.
