The problem with this understanding is that you've got to believe that Jesus was using a heresy to convey a spiritual truth. That wont cut it.

It’s not a parable nor an allegory! It was a real life story because Jesus used names (Lazarus and Abraham).

The reason why Abraham is mentioned in the parable is because the Jewish nation thought that because they were decedent's of Abraham that it gave them an automatic right to the kingdom of God. Jesus was teaching the Jewish nation that people will not inherit eternal life based on bloodline. This story is an allegory to represent the Jewish nation (the rich man) and the poor in spirit (the poor begger Lazarus). Do not get this Lazarus confused with Mary's brother.
The fact that Jesus would say concerning the rich man, to send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger and water and cool his tongue causes questions. A little drop of water on someone's finger will not cool anyone's tongue if they are in that predicament.
So why did Jesus specifically use the expression: "Finger?"
Because in Mathew 23:1-4 when Jesus was having a conversation with his disciples he said this:
Matthew 23:1-4 "Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, saying, the scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their FINGERS. "
Jesus is taking the situations of his life where he met with the Pharisees and is combining them into that one parable.
My friend, surface reading is not true bible study. Just because something sounds or looks obvious to us doesn't make it so. If we read the Word of God based on preconceived ideas it will lead to misconceptions.

If you believe this is a real event, it's full of holes and contradiction. He doesn't say make sense. It's a parable.
The parable teeth that God doesn't have favoritism between rich and poor. And when we are alive, it's when we have to seek for our salvation once we die in too late.

@@reyr9571 The Bible doesn’t have contradictions. It’s you who believe that, you apostate you.

@@reyr9571 They would say it is a real life story regardless of proper names, it's because they believe in the immortal soul. SO they want this story to be literal, even though it literally starts off sounding like a parable.
