Thank you for showing my beautiful Pangnirtung and seeing my “brother” Peter Kilabuk. After living in Pang 1960 as a child with my family it has remained with me all my life. I had only one trip back in 2003 after 40 yrs and received a warm, loving welcome . Although staying in contact with my Inuit friends, but to the Kilabuk family they are more brothers and sisters . Miss them and Pang very much
Hi Kathleen - I'm glad you enjoyed seeing Pang & Peter. From the brief time we were there I can see why Pang & the Kilabuk family hold a special place in your heart. Hope you're able to get back again at some point. Best, David
Great job with the video. It seems you guys had some really good weather, much better than what's shown in most trip videos I've seen. Nice job capturing the hike. So are you making it back this summer as hoped? We will be there in August 2020.
Thx Steve - no complaints on the weather :) I almost was going to make it back there next month but then 2 recent trips to Chile ... and now limited funds. But it's on the radar for 2020. All the best for your trip!
The biggest expenses the flights, hotel accommodation in Pangnirtung, ... we did the whole trip for less than $4k I believe. And no the huts are not for staying in - just for emergency use.
What a great video; thank you for posting! I am hoping to get up there in the next year or two and was wondering about polar bears; did the park provide any warnings or recommend ways to avoid them?
Thx Joel - yes, Parks Cda makes us do a mandatory orientation where the topic of polar bears is addressed. That said, it's more of an issue if you're entering the trail from the north end! Supposedly it's not likely a polar bear would be on the part of the Akshayuk we hiked on. Hope you get a chance to visit this area!

This is so cool to watch... and I've only watched part of it.
Thx - great to hear!
That looked great guys. I really hope to get there someday. Seems to be a logistical nightmare!
For us it was definitely worth the bit of effort required to make it happen :)
@@DavidMcColm i got to ask. How much did your pack weigh?
@@shaesmith9460 Probably just under 60lbs when I started; maybe 48 lbs at the end of the trip

That looked like the trip of a lifetime. Would love to know what it costs all told. And, are the huts for staying in or? Looks amazing that place.
