    Do temporary supports need to be put into place to keep the lower half from sagging or twisting when cutting the frame?

    How wide should the frame rail after you've welded the closeouts in?

    Is this a build kits for a nova mini tube kit? Will it effect 4 point ladder that are being installed latter?

    Thank you for doing this video. I actually liked the music. How big of a tire should I be able to fit in there after this modification?Is cutting up the frame rail really necessary? I don't remember Chip Foose cutting up the frame rail on Overhaulin. Are there shops out there that will do the modification for a reasonable price?

    • @detroitspeed
      @detroitspeed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      James, for Mini-Tubs, cutting the framerail is absolutely necessary to fit a larger tire. Please contact our sales and technical associates at 704-662-3272 or sales@detroitspeed.com for more information.

      The entire mini-tub installation process should be around 40-50hrs depending upon installer skill level and experience.

    I already have the heidts suspension kit for the rear of my convertible but was planning on using your tubs. Is your tubs compatible with this kit and also is this the same steps and process for a convertible. I do know I have to do some more cutting to the inside of the car where the convertible top springs mount but is this pretty much the same steps. Thanks

    dont the wider tire hit the frame up front where you did not remove the frame i would think that you should have gone forward another 6/8 inches

  • @MrDSALAZARTX
    @MrDSALAZARTX 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So what size can you fit back there with this kit and nothing else?

    • @detroitspeed
      @detroitspeed  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what year specifically but if you just do the mini-tubs and nothing else, the leaf springs are still in the same location so you will really not gain much room for anything wider than a stock tire size with a stock tub. Essentially, you would do all of the fab work to maybe gain a 1/2” of clearance (my guess). The leaf springs and/or shocks would also need to be offset inboard or you'd have to go with our QUADRALink™ Kit.

    Was going to try it until I saw that part of the frame was getting cut out. Going that far I may just cut my car apart and sell the wheel wells and trunk floor to pay for the back half and ladder bar setup

    • @detroitspeed
      @detroitspeed  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Keith,
      Unless you are building a mild drag only car, it would be a lot to go to all that trouble and back half a car with a ladder bar and ever want to drive it on the street. With the Mini-tubs and QUADRAlink™ you can have the best of both worlds with a wide tire in the back. If you have any intention of driving on the street, you do not want ladder bars.
