My dad use to tell me things like, if a cow falls into a ditch, you must leave the cow behind. He believed that his first wife passed away because he went back for the cow, when he shouldn't have. Also, why do elders believe that we shouldn't cut our nails, whistle, sing, etc. etc at night? By doing these things, do they really attract evil spirits? Last, it would be interesting if you could tell us what certain dreams mean..For instance, why do Hmong believe that dreaming that you are wearing red or is pregnant is a bad omen? And what can you do to prevent these bad things from occurring? Growing up, I would be freaked out whenever I have these dreams. It'll be great if someone can explain all these Hmong beliefs & interpret dreams for us.
